We carry out photoproduction experiments by using linearly polarized photon beams with energies of 1.5-3 GeV at SPring-8/LEPS. One of our physics motivations is to understand reaction mechanisms of hadron photoproduction. We study (1) y→p→ π-Δ++, (2) y→p→ π+n, (3) y→p→ K+Λ(K+Σ0), and (4) y→p→ π+Δ0 reactions which produce (1) uu, (2) dd, (3) ss, and (4) dd quark-antiquark pairs in the final state. Differential cross sections and photon beam asymmetries have been measured at forward meson angles of 0.6 < cos θcm <1. Precise comparison between the π-Δ++ and π+Δ0 reactions plays an important role in the study of nucleon resonances. It enables to distinguish between N* and Δ* by taking the cross section ratios of the two reactions. We have measured preliminary cross section ratios dσ(π+Δ0)/dσ(π-Δ++). The ratios are found to be close to 1/3, which is expected from the exchange of isospin=1 in the t channel, for 0.966< cos θcm <1 and all the photon energies. The ratios become larger than 1/3 and close to 1 for larger angles and higher energy regions. The larger ratios might be due to A resonances, giving the ratio 4/3, excited in the intermediate state

Abstract We demonstrate how to efficiently expand cross sections for color-singlet production at hadron colliders around the kinematic limit of all final state radiation being collinear to one of the incoming hadrons. This expansion is systematically improvable and applicable to a large class of physical observables. We demonstrate the viability of this technique by obtaining the first two terms in the collinear expansion of the rapidity distribution of the gluon fusion Higgs boson production cross section at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) in QCD perturbation theory. Furthermore, we illustrate how this technique is used to extract universal building blocks of scattering cross section like the N-jettiness and transverse momentum beam function at NNLO.

The two-pion production in pp-collisions has been investigated in exclusive measurements from threshold up to Tp = 1.36 GeV . Total and differential cross sections have been obtained for the channels pnπ+π0, ppπ+π-, ppπ0π0 and also nnπ+π+. For intermediate incident energies Tp > 1 GeV , i.e. in the region, which is beyond the Roper excitation but at the onset of ΔΔ excitation the total ppπ0π0 cross section falls behind theoretical predictions by as much as an order of magnitude near 1.2 GeV, whereas the nnπ+π+ cross section is a factor of five larger than predicted. A model-unconstrained isospin decompostion of the cross section points to a significant contribution of an isospin 3/2 resonance other than the Δ(1232). As a possible candidate the Δ(1600) is discussed.

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering and ionization in positron–argon collisions as a function of energy (40–150 eV) are reported at 60°. Of particular interest is the energy range 55–60 eV, where earlier measurements by the Detroit group found a drop in the elastic-scattering cross section of a factor of 2. This structure has been tentatively attributed to a cross channel-coupling effect with an open inelastic-scattering channel, most likely ionization. Our results indicate that ionization remains an important channel over the same energy range and only begins to decrease at an energy above 60 eV.

The application of standard-less PIGE requires the a priori knowledge of the differential cross section of the reaction used for the quantification of each detected light element. Towards this end, a lot of datasets have been published the last few years from several laboratories around the world. The discrepancies found can be resolved by applying a rigorous benchmarking procedure through the measurement of thick target yields. Such a procedure is proposed in the present paper and is applied in the case of the 19F(p,p’γ)19F reaction.

The differential cross section for the Rhodium and Tantalum has been calculated by using the Cross Section Calculations (CSC) in range of energy(1keV-1MeV) . This calculations based on the programming of the Klein-Nashina and Rayleigh Equations. Atomic form factors as well as the coherent functions in Fortran90 language Machine proved very fast an accurate results and the possibility of application of such model to obtain the total coefficient for any elements or compounds.

We present an overview of the SAID group effort to analyze new γn → π-p cross sections vs. the world database to get new multipoles and determine neutron electromagnetic couplings. The differential cross section for the processes γn → π-p was extracted from new measurements at CLAS and MAMI-B accounting for Fermi motion effects in the impulse approximation (IA) as well as NN- and πN-FSI effects beyond the IA. We evaluated results of several pion photoproduction analyses and compared πN PWA results as a constraint for analyses of pion photoproduction data (Watson's theorem).
