The study concerns the cartography of the spatio-temporal evolution of the embankments of the road network of the Oued Ouergha watershed using data from the Landsat images on the one hand, and the modeling of soil stability processes. On the other hand. This region experiences an intense destabilization linked to the combination of several natural factors, such as the brutality and the abundance of the precipitations and the outcrop on the marls and limestones of Cretaceous. Human intervention in this vulnerable environment accentuates its fragility through the clearing and degradation of vegetation cover. The analysis of satellite data has shown that the most degraded soils are not necessarily those with the highest rate of erosion over the past fifteen years and that some well-developed soils are unstable areas after clearing and their non-rational exploitation. Human intervention and the choice of road routes sometimes, combined with climate change, remain the most important factors in weakening and increasing the vulnerability of the slopes. The results obtained made it possible to identify and monitor vulnerable zones at the Ouergha watershed scale, where interventions are needed to limit the processes of slope degradation and their impact on the various road access routes in the region.

Proposed a new index structure, named MG2R*, can efficiently store and retrieve the past, present and future positions of network-constrained moving objects. It is a two-tier structure. The upper is a MultiGrid-R*-Tree (MGRT for short) that is used to index the road network. The lower is a group of independent R*-Tree. Each R*-Tree is relative to a route in the road network, can index the spatiotemporal trajectory of the moving objects in the road. Moreover, moving objects query is implemented based on this index structure. It compared to other index structures for road-network-based moving objects, such as MON-Tree, the experimental results shown that the MG2R* can effectively improve the query performance of the spatio-temporal trajectory of network-constrained moving objects.

Performance Analysis of One - Way Roads in Central Semarang District, Semarang : The city of Semarang is experiencing an increase in the movement of traffic every year, especially in Central Semarang District which has a function as a shopping center, trade and service area, office area, and education area. The Semarang City Government has tried to overcome traffic problems by implementing a one - way system on Gajahmada, Pandanaran, MH. Thamrin, Pemuda, Imam Bonjol Selata n, Piere Tendean, and Indraprasta streets . This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the one - way system on the road using the analysis method, which wa s descriptive and quantitative output of EMME2 version 9.5. The re sults showed that after the implementation of one - way system, there was still decreased performance in some roads. The road segment in Imam Bonjol Selatan street had not fulfill the requirements for road functions because the width of the road wa s only 10 meters, mean while according to the requirements for secondary arterial road functions it should be at least 11 meters. The DS value of Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Roads was 0.75 in the afternoon . Furthermore, the level service of Pandanaran Road was D w hile Captain Piere Tendean Road section was E . In addition, Imam Bonjol Selatan, Captain Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Roads we re not in accordance with the performance indicators for the road network ing system to minimize or reduce total delays and total t rip length because travel speeds were declining and road capacity had not been able to accommodate traffic loads. T o overcome this problem the DS value must be 0.75 and the maximum service level should be C in Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Road s , widening 1 meter road on Imam Bonjol Selatan section, and setting off street parking on Imam Bonjol Selatan Road, Captain Piere Tendean, and Pandanaran. Keywords : EMME2 version 9.5, road network system performance, traffic problems, one - way system

Abstract The article was created as a reaction on the request of the Slovak Road Administration, whether it would be possible to evaluate level of friction on the road network only by using laser equipped device Profilograph GE, instead of by using longitudinal friction coefficient measuring device Skiddometer BV11, which is slow, much more difficult on operation and it is necessary to fulfil the water tank for measurements. In order to find out the answer, there were evaluated measurements performed on road sections in Slovakia for the past few years. The main goal was to compare results obtained by both devices, and to find a relevant correlation between them. For better understanding of the problematic and for the demonstration of disadvantages of some texture characteristics, there are performed a comparisons of the different parameters evaluated on model surface profiles in the end of this work.

This article contributes to the research on the expansion of the Swedish post-war road network by illuminating the role of tourism in addition to political and industrial agendas. Specifically, it examines the “conceptual construction” of the Blue Highway, which currently stretches from the Atlantic Coast of Norway, traverses through Sweden and Finland, and enters into Russia. The focus is on Swedish governmental reports and national press between the 1950s and the 1970s. The article identifies three overlapping meanings attached to the Blue Highway: a political agenda of improving the relationships between the Nordic countries, industrial interests, and tourism. Political ambitions of Nordic community building were clearly pronounced at the onset of the project. Industrial actors depended on the road for the building of power plants and dams. The road became gradually more connected with the view of tourism as the motor of regional development.

The golden age of road demand modeling began in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in the face of major road construction needs. These macro models, as well as the econometrics and the data to be processed, were provided mainly by engineers. A division of tasks can be observed between the engineers in charge of estimating the flows within the network and the transport economists in charge of managing these flows once they are on the road network. Yet the inability to explain their decision-making processes and individual drives gave some room to economists to introduce economic analysis, so as to better understand individual or collective decisions between transport alternatives. Economists, in particular Daniel McFadden, began to offer methods to improve the measure of utility linked to transport and to inform the engineering approach. This paper explores the challenges to the boundaries between economics and engineering in road demand analysis.

The literature on life satisfaction in transition countries, and in particular on Romania, demonstrated that life satisfaction significantly differs across rural communities and cities of different size. The question addressed in this paper is whether these imbalances are stable over time or, instead, they become manifest in the presence of strong divergences in the economic growth rates of different kinds of communities. Results point out that in the period of sharp economic growth led by large urban areas, as the one experienced by Romania on the road to EU accession, rural/urban disparities in life satisfaction widened, favoring cities of intermediate size.
