Performance Analysis of One - Way Roads in Central Semarang District, Semarang : The city of Semarang is experiencing an increase in the movement of traffic every year, especially in Central Semarang District which has a function as a shopping center, trade and service area, office area, and education area. The Semarang City Government has tried to overcome traffic problems by implementing a one - way system on Gajahmada, Pandanaran, MH. Thamrin, Pemuda, Imam Bonjol Selata n, Piere Tendean, and Indraprasta streets . This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the one - way system on the road using the analysis method, which wa s descriptive and quantitative output of EMME2 version 9.5. The re sults showed that after the implementation of one - way system, there was still decreased performance in some roads. The road segment in Imam Bonjol Selatan street had not fulfill the requirements for road functions because the width of the road wa s only 10 meters, mean while according to the requirements for secondary arterial road functions it should be at least 11 meters. The DS value of Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Roads was 0.75 in the afternoon . Furthermore, the level service of Pandanaran Road was D w hile Captain Piere Tendean Road section was E . In addition, Imam Bonjol Selatan, Captain Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Roads we re not in accordance with the performance indicators for the road network ing system to minimize or reduce total delays and total t rip length because travel speeds were declining and road capacity had not been able to accommodate traffic loads. T o overcome this problem the DS value must be 0.75 and the maximum service level should be C in Piere Tendean and Pandanaran Road s , widening 1 meter road on Imam Bonjol Selatan section, and setting off street parking on Imam Bonjol Selatan Road, Captain Piere Tendean, and Pandanaran. Keywords : EMME2 version 9.5, road network system performance, traffic problems, one - way system

The paper gives an overview of researches of foreign scientists to change the driver's reaction time, depending on various road conditions, namely regarding the change of studied magnitude when using traffic-light signalization. Previously, the authors have carried out researches of capacity of road section with traffic light regulation, which allowed to establish the dependence of this parameter from the driver's reaction time. This paper proposes calculation of the road capacity using a variety values of the driver's reaction time derived from the analysis. The values obtained allow us to conclude that the inclusion of psychophysiological characteristics of drivers (such as reaction time) will affect both on road capacity and on the different methods of organization/reorganization of road networks sectors, which use the value of road capacity in their implementation. This article analyzes foreign researches devoted to changing the reaction time of drivers on the road conditions. Besides, the effect of changing the driver's reaction time on capacity of the road network sector with traffic-light control was considered.

Introduction. The authors propose to use a rational distribution of buses, taking into account their passenger capacity and the hours of the day, in order to optimize the operation of the rolling stock (RS) on the route. The usage of RS low-capacity on routes with significant passenger traffic increases the RS need, the load on the transport network and emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Operation of high-capacity buses on routes with low power passenger traffic leads to the large intervals of movement and to the increase of waiting time for passengers. The authors highlight that on the number and type of buses’ determining it is necessary to take into account the city specifics (on the example of Volgograd), such as the presence of only two main streets with three lanes in each direction, adjacent roads through which the routes pass, one lane direction. The length of the city along the Volga river in total is about 90 km, due to the peculiarities of the road network (RN) of the city, any irrational use of the RS leads to a significant load on the road network, and, as a result, to the congestion on the roads. Nowadays the PS is not operated effectively. On most routes of the city the capacity of RS does not correspond to passenger traffic on the route. Possible way to optimize the use of RS is taking into account the daily load on the road network.Materials and methods. The authors studied the technology of the movement organization of the rolling stock on the № 59 route. In order to optimize the transportation process, the authors used the method of determining the buses’ number by hour of the day on the base of the graph-analytical method. Buses of different capacity were used on this route.Results. The resulting distribution of buses made it possible to combine the interests of carriers and passengers, to increase the efficiency of rolling stock and to reduce the load on the road network.Discussion and conclusions. As a result, the authors present the measures for improving the efficiency of the rolling stock. These measures are the main for improving transport services for population.

Abstract The highest number of road accidents occurs at junctions. One of the aims of traffic organisation is to improve traffic safety in these areas. Based on a variety of indices – road capacity, points of conflict, number, and severity of road traffic accidents – different alternatives for junctions are evaluated. However, the road network has many junctions and roads serve to travel from point "A" to point "B" at a given time. Therefore, one of the most important tasks when addressing the issue of road safety is to find a rational way of improving the safety without losing the importance of the road. The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of different junctions on the road network and basing on actual data develop a method for the evaluation of different types of junctions with respect to road class.

The number of people utilizing the city market facility is likely to increase day by day. It causes  the market conditions to become congested. Therefore, it cannot be denied that  the  existing main roads are definetly affected by this condition. For this reason, the performance of the roads needs to be further reviewed since they are openly accessed by the community also due tothe influence of Teratai Market activities. A descriptive method is used in this studyby surveying the conditions of the Komyos Sudarso road. The calculation  is carried out based on the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. The results of this study shows that the activities of the Teratai Market greatly affect road capacity resulting in the increased of traffic volume. When the market operates, the trafficbecomes denser as  such a large number of vehicles are commuting on the road. The observation area is included in a commercial area with high roadside activity as evidenced by a side friction survey which shows a high side friction class count with a weighted frequency of 508.3. The results of the road performance show that Jalan Komyos Sudarso is still not saturated, in which the DS value is 0.34 and the average speed of light vehicles is 42 km/hour.

Gajahmada Street is one of the main streets in the city of Semarang. The location is very strategic, which connects the Golden Triangle Region in Semarang City which is the center of the city. As a city center, transportation activities in the area are very high. Transportation activities produce carbon dioxide emissions. The accumulation of carbon dioxide emissions is dangerous for health and the environment. Semarang City Government provides green open space along the road section to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The purpose of this study was to determine the vegetation resilience to absorbing carbon dioxide at that location. The data collection method uses literature collection and field observations. The results showed the ability of green open space to absorb carbon dioxide emissions is 1.218,7 tons/ha/year. While the emissions produced are 6.832 tons/year, meaning that there is residual carbon dioxide that is not absorbed, that is 5.613,3 tons/year.

Congestion, a problem that is not new for a third world country like Bangladesh. Like the other megacities of Bangladesh, Khulna is gradually experiencing this phenomenon in an acute manner. Khulna-Jessore highway that runs through the city and gives it a linear form works as the backbone of the traffic skeleton of Khulna city. This study focuses on developing a speed based model for predicting congestion scenario of Khulna city. Fulbarigate to Dakbangla midblock is chosen as the study corridor. The whole study corridor (10.73km) is divided into two equal halves and travelled 10 times with the stream and against the stream to generate 20 data set. Speedometer GPS survey along with moving observed method is used to collect necessary data. A latitude longitude based speed profile is found at each travel based on which travel speed index (TSI) is calculated and a multiple linear regression (MLR) model for predicting congestion is developed. Independent variables are selected based on the possibility of affecting congestion of the road section. The MLR model is found as TSI = 0.0167083 + 0.0001826*Volume (PCU/hr.) + 0.0019625*Speed Drop Factor, with 8.86 % error. Congestion is found severe at Doulatpur Bazar and Shibbari to Dakbangla circle within the study corridor. Due to illegal parking spot, road capacity is not utilizing properly. As a result in peak hour, speed drops more than average peak hour speed and congestion occurs.
