The effect of heat treatment on the structure and magnetic properties of Sm-Fe alloys obtained by mechanical alloying was investigated. The crystallization temperature of Sm2Fe17, an amorphous alloy obtained by mechanical alloying, was determined using differential scanning calorimetry. Based on these results, various samples were annealed at different isothermal holding temperatures, and those with the best magnetic properties were found. Experimental studies show that decreasing the isothermal holding temperature from 750 °C to 630 °C increases magnetic characteristics nearly four times. The saturation magnetization, romance and coercivity of the Sm2Fe17 powder were 121 emu/g, 28.5 emu/g and 800 Oe, respectively.

The influences of Gd concentration on martensitic transformation and magnetic properties of NiMnIn alloys were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) , vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and etc. It is Observed through the experiment: the addition of Gd enhances martensite transition temperature;X-ray diffraction analysis of experimental alloys is revealed that to the mixture is martensite and austenite at room temperature; content of Gd is not proportional to the improvement of magnetic property.

Nano-crystalline barium hexaferrite powders have been prepared by mechanical alloying of nFe2O3+Ba(CH3COO)2 with Fe/Ba molar ratios of 10-12 and subsequent heat treatment. Thermal behavior, phase composition, morphology and magnetic properties of samples were studied using DTA/TGA, XRD, SEM and VSM, respectively. Nano-crystalline Ba-hexaferrite with a mean crystallite size of 46 nm and magnetic properties as high as Ms = 73.9 A.m2/kg and Hci = 334.2 kA/m was formed for mixture of 5.5Fe2O3+Ba(CH3COO)2 which was milled for 48 h and then annealed at 1100 °C.

Ti-Cu-Ni-Sn quaternary amorphous alloys of Ti50Cu32Ni15Sn3, Ti50Cu25Ni20Sn5, and Ti50Cu23Ni20Sn7 composition were prepared by mechanical alloying in a planetary high-energy ballmill (AGO-2). The amorphization of all three alloys was found to set in after milling at 300rpm speed for 2h. A complete amorphization was observed for Ti50Cu32Ni15Sn3 and Ti50Cu25Ni20Sn5 after 30h and 20h of milling, respectively. Differential scanning calorimetry analyses revealed that the thermal stability increased in the order of Ti50Cu32Ni15Sn3, Ti50Cu25Ni20Sn5, and Ti50Cu23Ni20Sn7.
