This article critically reflects on some of the themes and assumptions at stake in the “transracialism” controversy, and connects them to important works in critical race theory: namely Rey Chow's notion of “coercive mimeticism” and Sara Ahmed's critique of white liberal multiculturalism. It argues that the analytic account of “race” that Tuvel draws upon in her article—Sally Haslanger's—is politically problematic, both on its own terms and in light of broader reflections on racialized and gendered power relations. In particular, I critique Haslanger's assumption that all racial identities exist on the same conceptual plane: that a single variable definition of “race” can be applied to any particular racialized group—including white and nonwhite racial identities. This erases racialized power relations, especially where, in liberal “multicultural” nations, whiteness constitutes the implied standard against which an appearance of “racial difference” is conjured. Finally, I extend my argument to the issue of treating “race” and gender analogously. Rejecting this move, I propose an alternative way of conceptualizing these as analytically distinct, yet constitutively interdependent, phenomena. In order to situate the debate historically, I consider an example of “racial transgression” from twentieth‐century China.

Visual representations such as Free body diagrams are an important part of solving engineering mechanics problems. Automatic Assessment of these types of images is difficult due to the involvement of multiple object types and to their contextual nature. Using a probabilistic approach, an algorithm was created to automatically categorize groups of characters in labels from images into specific object types including: variables, assignment operators, values, units, or words.  Using these categories, the algorithm was then able to determine whether the label was an identifier, a point, a dimension, a variable definition, or an equation. A series of representative test cases were chosen and results found that the current algorithm was able to correctly predict the results of all test cases. The paper discusses each step in detail and provides the resulting probability coefficients for the model.

Abstract. Extreme hydrological phenomena recurrence in West Africa in recent decades is a problem in the anthropized watershed management. Link analysis between extreme hydrological phenomena and climate variability is necessary to guard against their consequences. However, qualitative data accessing difficulties and explanatory variable definition of extremes hydrological phenomena limit extreme flows rate studies. This study proposes the analysis the variability of the floods and the low flows at the Bianouan hydrometric station. Thus, five (5) floods characteristics variables (QCX5, QXJA, F90p, F95p and F99p) and three (3) for, the low flows (VCN10, QJNA and F10p) were extracted daily flows from the Bianouan hydrometric station from 1 January 1962 to 31 December 2005. The variability of these extremes has been studied by the trend analysis (linear regression) and of the stationarity (Pettitt and Hubert tests). The results show that for flood variables the negative trend is very significant and ruptures are observed in 1980. For low flow variables the negative trend is significant and the ruptures are observed in 1981. From this study, we can deduce that the ruptures observed in the rains and flows average in the end 1960s and early 1970s have affected later the extreme flows around the 1980s.

Social networking sites are considered an important channel for expressing opinions and actively participating in political life. Jakarta 2017 election into the spotlight when Basuki Tjahja Purnama or Ahok allegedly defamed the religion of Islam. In the first round, Agus-Sylvi pair must accept defeat and the couple Ahok-Djarot and Anies-Sandi go to the second round of 2017 Regional Head Election of Jakarta. On April 12, 2017, KPUD DKI Jakarta held the last debate discussing the problems and the exposure of work program which has been diserausn by both candidates based on the hashtag #DebatPilkadaDKI. The purpose of this study is to know the direction of opinion Ahok-Djarot candidates and Anies-Passwords on the hashtag #DebatPilkadaDKI as well as the process of forming public opinion. This research uses three concepts are public opinion, social media twitter, and candidate debate. The paradigm used is positivism, quantitative research, descriptive research type, unit analysis using thematic analysis unit (pro, contra, and neutral categorization), variable definition is public opinion variable and social media twitter, analysis model is content analysis, opinion and social media twitter, population and sample that is random sampling, data collecting technique that is documentation, research instrument is sheet coding, data analysis technique using formula percentage, and validity and reliability of data using inter-coder reliability. The results of this study indicate that the pair Ahok-Djarot opinion direction in the last debate tend to be positive than the couple Anies-Sandi.

Recently the development of graphical methods using the ISAAC code’s calculation data has been started in order to show the Wolsong 1 & 2 PHWR plants behaviour during the severe accidents. This graphic model is designed to provide two basic functions: one is to provide the graphical display of several plants systems together with the important parameters. For example, the representative T/H behaviour, fuel behaviour, fuel channel behaviour, reactor core behaviour, containment behaviour and fission product behaviour are going to be displayed in a graphic window. The other function is the control capability equipped with the controllable valves and pumps in the PHWR SAMG. In this paper, details of the elementary technical aspects of the ISAAC graphic model are presented which are the system structure, ISAAC variable definition, data communication methods and graphical display generation.
