ABSTRACT Bengkulu is one of 34 provinces in Indonesia which is a megathrust region. So Bengkulu province is often hit by many large earthquakes with shallow depth. TEC anomaly was analyzed based on three electromagnetic waves radiated by an earthquake. The total electron content (TEC) anomaly is seen through the global positioning system (GPS) dual-frequency radio signal data. The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) method is used to divide the signal analysis into several sections according to the electromagnetic wave frequency range of acoustic (2.5 mHz) -3 mHz), gravity waves (1 mHz-2.8 mHz) and rayleigh waves (5 mHz-33 mHz). GPS observation data for 9 days is calculated using the Standard deviation (2?) method to see trends in data changes. The analysis shows anomalies in the September 12 2007 earthquake (7.9 Mw), the March 5 2010 earthquake (6.3 Mw) and the August 4 2011 earthquake (6.0 Mw). Anomalies are detected 1 to 5 hours before an earthquake occurs. TEC anomalies that occur may be related to the process of preseismic before the earthquake and may be an early sign of an earthquake.Keyword: earthquake, total electron content, continous wavelet transform, standard deviation

Jati Gede Dam is located around the border of Sumedang-Majalengka region in West Java province. Jati Gede Dam provides several benefits such as for irrigation, hydropower, tourism and fish farming. Dam can also trigger the potential a disaster, especially in the water impounding process. The process of water impounding in the dam has the potential to cause earthquake disaster. The effect of water impounding potentially adds stress accumulation in the dam area so that it can cause earthquakes. Therefore, a research on strain change due to the water impounding in Jati Gede dam is needed. The method used in the research is by GPR survey. Result from GPS observation processed to generate displacement value of GPS observation point, and strain changes from the point that formed grid strain. Based on deformation analysis the effect of water impounding to the strain around Jati Gede Dam can be obtained. Development in this thesis is by using and additional method namely Kinematic PPP to see the different pattern of earth tide phenomenon around the dam which were represented by several GPS station. These results indicate a change of velocity direction in the area around Jati Gede dam. This change can be analyzed for the station near the dam as JTG1 station, jtg2, CSUM, 0355, BDK2, CJR6, and MJLK. BDK2 campaign point leads toward the Southwestern, CJR6 displacements from the Southwest to the North, MJLK displacements from Southeast to the Northwest, and 0355 displacements from Southeast to the North. JTG1 GPS station point tends to lead toward the Southwestern and JTG2 GPS station leads toward the North with 0355 GPS station. CSUM in Sumedang displacements from Northwest to the East. This change can be analyzed for the station near the dam such as JTG1, JTG2, CSUM, 0355, BDK2, CJR6, and MJLK as result of the process of water filling in Jati Gede dam.

This paper mainly analyzes the effects of solar storms on GPS measurement errors. Solar storms produce a lot of charged particles, which makes the electron density in ionosphere increase, and in further affects the ionosphere delay errors. Ionosphere delay errors are one of the main sources of GPS measurement error, which is a direct impact on measurement precision of GPS. GPS distance errors are caused by ionosphere delay errors. In the case of solar storms, dual frequency observation cannot completely remove ionosphere delay, so in measurement process appropriate methods will be used to reduce errors in GPS measurement, for example, during the observation in the night and increased observation period. By comparing and analyzing the GPS observation data in solar storms and under normal conditions with GAMIT/GLOBK software, a conclusion is made in this paper that observing in the night and the increased observation period can reduce the GPS measurement errors.

This paper first introduces geological background of the Three Gorges Reservoir and then reviews composition of the Three Gorges GNSS deformation monitoring network. The GNSS monitoring strategy from 2010 to 2012 is elaborately analyzed from technology design, field observation, data processing and deformation analysis. vertical deformation showed a subsidence trend in around the dam and near the Yangtze River,Vertical deformation showed a uplifting trend in TG14 station and TG13station. The results show that the three-year’s variation of the crustal deformation is small, and then the surface structure variation is stable in present around the Three Gorges Reservoir area.

Independent component analysis (ICA) is a recent and well-known technique used to separate mixtures of signals. It can separate independent components from mixed signals and has many advantages in blind signal separation, redundancy removal and processing of frequency aliasing problems. Deformation monitoring data can be regarded as the digital signals series which is composed of different frequency. After making test on ICA in processing dam observation data we can draw a conclusion that it is practical and applicative for ICA to evaluate the stability of the dam and reflect the working condition of dam.
