The dipendant-arm polyamino acid macrocycle 13-amino-13-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-6-carboxylate (acammac), characterized earlier as the major trans isomer (3), has been isolated as the minor cis isomer (4) by crystallization as the [Ni(4)](ClO4) complex. The complex has been examined by an X-ray crystal structure analysis, and the cation exists as a dimer with each carboxylate group bound both to its ‘parent’ nickel atom and bridging to the adjacent nickel atom. The macrocycle adopts a folded geometry, each nickel atom appearing as a cis-NiN4O2 chromophore. The pendant primary amine group and three of the four secondary amine groups are also coordinated, whereas the fourth secondary amine group is not coordinated but stabilized by a proton bridging within a superbase between the uncoordinated amine and one of the coordinated amines.

A new bi-capped Keggin heteropoly molybdovanadated derivative, [Co (en)3]2[SiMo8V6O42]∙6H2O (1) (en = ethylendiamine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by the elemental analysis, IR, XPS and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure analysis reveals that compound 1 consists of [Co (en)3]2+transition metal coordination fragment and the [SiMo8V6O42]4-building blocks, which are linked together via hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a new 3-D supramolecular networks.

Single crystals of Cu(pdz)Cl2 were grown by using gel methods with tetramethoxysilane as the gel-forming reagent. Thermal decomposition is interpreted. Crystal data for the complex : monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 938.3(3) pm, b = 1242.9(3) pm, c = 675.7(4) pm, β = 128.48(5)°. A crystal structure analysis reveals CuCl2 molecules connected by pyridazine in the form of zigzag-chains. Between these chains there are only Van-der-Waals-Interactions.

Novel ECPs (electronic conducting polymers) based on amino β-styryl-substituted terthiophene (AST) were synthetized by direct electropolymerization. The ECPs were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The poly(amino β-styryl terthiophene) displayed cyclic and square-wave voltammograms with redox peaks that can be assigned to the aminophenyl moiety and the polyterthiophene backbone. The presence of free primary amine groups on the ECP film permitted further biological functionalization (i.e., covalent bonding of various bioreceptors on its surface). The electrochemical performance of Biotin grafted at the AST modified glassy carbon electrode was investigated to detect the Avidin protein in solution by cyclic voltammetry and square-wave voltammetry.Key words: electronic conducting polymer, electrode surface modification, biosensor, β-styryl-substitued terthiophene, functionalization, cyclic, square-wave voltammetry.

The synthesis of CuCrO2 crystals by mixing CuO and Cr2O3 has been carried out using the solid reaction method at a temperature of 1200 0C. The characterization of the structure used XRD and analyzed using GSAS software. The results of characterization using XRD showed that no other phase occurred. This is evidenced by the absence of other phases from the results of refinement of measurement data with reference data and a value of χ 2 which is 1.222. The lattice parameter values resulting from the refinement of the CuCrO2 X-ray diffraction pattern are a = b = 2.9715 Å and c = 17.1104 Å with a cell volume of 130.584 Å 3. In addition to the lattice parameter values, the distance between atoms was also obtained, both Cu - O, Cr - Cr, and Cr - O.

Sulphadiazine, [4-amino-N-(2-pyrimidinyl)-benzenesulfonamide], reacts with (dppe)Au2Cl2 and triethylamine in methanol to produce [(SDAZ)2Au2(dppe)]. The structure of this novel complex was analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In [(SDAZ)2Au2(dppe)] the ligands SDAZ− and dppe have approximately the same bond distances and angles as found for the protonated and free ligand, respectively. The compound is assembled essentially of two gold atoms bonded to the phosphorus centers of one 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)ethane molecule (in an anti conformation). The coordination sphere is completed with a trans sulphadiazine ligand on each gold atom. Because of their fairly high reactivity, the two aromatic amine groups in the SDAZ ligands represent important sites for the chemical modification of the complex with biological purposes
