AbstractNew 4,7-bis(arylamino)-2-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranosylimino-1,3,5,6-dithiadiazepines were synthesized via reaction of N-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranosyl isocyanodichloride with 1,6-diaryl-2,5-dithio-bis-ureas without using any catalyst. Thus, the synthesis of 7-membered heterocycles containing two sulfur and two nitrogen atoms through carbon-sulfur bond formation was explored. The chemical structures of these new compounds were elucidated by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectral, and elemental analyses.

A series of palladium(II) halo complexes of the types [PdX 2 L 2 ].nH 2 O {n = 0, X = Cl, L = L 2 , L 4 and L 5 ; X = Br, L = L 2 ; n = 1, X = Cl, L = L 1 and L 3 } and Pd 2 X 4 L 3 [X = Br, L = L 1 , L 3 , L 4   and L 5 ] were prepared where L is 6-R-5,6- dihydrobenzoimidazo quinazoline (R-Diq; where R = ethyl: L 1 / n or i-propyl: L 2 , L 3 / n or i-butyl: L 4 , L 5 ) and characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, TGA, infrared, electronic, NMR and mass spectral techniques. Based    on these studies monomeric/dimeric structure with a square planar geometry around the metal ion was proposed for all the complexes. Some of the complexes were investigated for anti-microbial activity.

The partial Schiff base condensation reactions between 2,6-diacetylpyridine and 1,3-phenylenediamine in the presence of scandium(III), yttrium(III) and lanthanum(III) ions as template agents afford new mono- and dinuclear hexadentate complexes of podate type, depending on the molar ratio of starting materials used in the synthesis. They were characterized by IR, UV-VIS, 1H NMR, and mass spectral data as well as by thermogravimetric and elemental analyses.

Barbitones (3) were synthesised by the condensation of chalcones (2) with barbituric acid. The structure of the synthesized compounds were assigned on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, NMR and mass spectral studies. All the products were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against various strains of bacteria and fungi.

AbstractA number of mono(carboxylato)mono(alkoxo)nickel(II) complexes of the general formula, Ni(OR)(OOCR′), (with R′ = C13H27, C15H35 and C17H35) have been synthesized (where R = Me and Pri) by the reactions of nickel methoxide and isopropoxide with the respective carboxylic acids in equimolar ratio and (where R = Et and But) by alcohol interchange reactions. A study of the molecular weight, infra-red and electronic reflectance spectra and magnetic susceptibility in addition to elemental analyses has been carried out to throw some light on the probable structure of these derivatives.

New poly[(N-ester-azo)-3-ether-4-chloro)maleimides] and poly(azomethin-ester-aspartimides) were synthesized by the reaction of N-[4-(formylphenoxy carboxylphenyl)]-3-(4-formylphenoxy)-4-chloromaleimide (3 a) or N-[4-formylphenoxycarbonylphenyl)maleimide (3 b) with various diamines. IR and elemental analyses confirmed the structures of the resulting polymers. A series of model compounds were synthesized to facilitate confirmation of the polymer structures. The polymers possess inherent viscosities in the range 0.17–0.42 dl g−1, solubility in aprotic dipolar solvents and 5% weight loss at temperatures above 300 °C.

Synthesis of some new dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes having general formula [MoO2(mac)](acac)2, (where mac = tetraazamacrocyclic ligands derived from condensation of furil with 1,2-diaminobenzene or 2,3-diaminopyridine and their reaction with ?-diketones) using dioxometal ion as kinetic template are reported. The prepared complexes have been characterized by molar conductance, elemental analyses, infrared and electronic data. The spectral data indicate that ligands act as tetradentate chelating agent. Due to their biological relevance, molybdenum catalyzed oxygen transfer reactions have great interest. All the dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes have octahedral geometry with six coordination.
