Industry 4.0 covers the readiness of achieving expertise that impacts the society, strategy, talent and technology. Individual, social and economic demands pose ever-changing challenges for education and training even in today’s world. In spite of the shrinking rapidity, which progressively affects the cognitive, biological, and information offerings into the new insights on people learning, for an effective reformation to an even more miniature of scientific and technological connect, ultimately on the knowledge content. Today’s students will compete in a technological, diverse, multi-cultural world and must be prepared to thrive in that futuristic environment; therefore, it is vital that today’s pedagogy produce lifelong learners, who can succeed in a global arena. To ensure our educational technology progresses at the rate demanded by today’s ubiquitous digital learners, we are reviewing emerging technologies and traditional teaching methods and propose desirable changes. Further enhancement in student learning and outcomes through technology enabled learning builds alliances among institutional units, employers, community partners and provides the effective delivery of learning services and opportunities to students. Technology depends on the cleverness and the innovative application of theoretical tools from control and estimation for scalability through hierarchy and multi-modality. Educational technology enhances the learning experience for students, faculty, the university and community at large. Hence, to develop a richer context for student learning, covering societal inadequacies, injustices in empowerment to learning access among students, cross-cultural involvements, and opportunity to learn, we deliberate on the latest trends in pedagogy - intelligent tutoring systems and ICT integration that can be modified during their implementation to suit future needs for industry 4.0 requirements.
Speech-language pathologists make clinical decisions informed by evidence-based theory and “beliefs, values and emotional experiences” (
, p. 265). These subjective processes, while not extensively studied, underlie the workings of the therapeutic relationship and contribute to treatment outcomes. While speech-language pathologists do not routinely pay attention to subjective experiences of the therapeutic encounter, social workers do. Thus, the field of social work makes an invaluable contribution to the knowledge and skills of speech-language pathologists.
This clinical focus article focuses on the clinician's contribution to the therapeutic relationship by surfacing elements of the underlying subjective processes.
Vignettes were gathered from clinicians in two community aphasia programs informed by the principles of the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia.
Results and Discussion
By reflecting on and sharing aspects of clinical encounters, clinicians reveal subjective processing occurring beneath the surface. The vignettes shed light on the following clinical behaviors: listening to the client's “whole self,” having considerations around self-disclosure, dealing with biases, recognizing and surfacing clients' identities, and fostering hope. Speech-language pathologists are given little instruction on the importance of the therapeutic relationship, how to conceptualize this relationship, and how to balance this relationship with professionalism. Interprofessional collaboration with social workers provides a rich opportunity to learn ways to form and utilize the benefits of a strong therapeutic relationship while maintaining high standards of ethical behavior.
This clinical focus article provides speech-language pathologists with the “nuts and bolts” for considering elements of the therapeutic relationship. This is an area that is gaining traction in the field of speech-language pathology and warrants further investigation.
Most curriculum components of archival graduate programmes consist of contextual knowledge, archival knowledge, complementary knowledge, practicum, and scholarly research. The practicum, now commonly known as experiential learning in the global hub, is now widely accepted in library and information studies (LIS) education as necessary and important. It is through experiential learning that, over and above the theoretical aspects of a profession, students are provided with the opportunity to learn by doing in a workplace environment. The University of Botswana’s Master’s in Archives and Records Management (MARM) programme has a six weeks experiential learning programme whose purpose is to expose prospective archivists and/or records managers to the real archival world in terms of practice as informed by archival theory. The main objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the University of Botswana’s experiential learning component exposes students to real-life archival work to put into practice theoretical aspects learnt in the classroom as intended by the university guidelines. This study adopted a qualitative research design and collected data through interviews from participants selected through purposive and snowball sampling strategies. Documentary review supplemented the interviews. The data collected were analysed thematically in line with research objectives. The study determined that experiential learning does indeed expose students to the real world of work. It thus helps to bridge the gap between archival theory and practice for students without archives and records management work experience. For those with prior archival experience, experiential learning does not add value. This study recommends that students with prior archives and records management experience should rather, as an alternative to experiential learning, undertake supervised research, and write a research essay in a chosen thematic area in archives and records management.
Objetivo: analisar a produção científica nacional e internacional sobre tecnologias educativas voltadas à promoção da saúde do paciente com doença renal crônica. Metodologia: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura; utilizou-se a questão norteadora: Quais as evidências disponíveis na literatura científica sobre tecnologias educativas voltadas à promoção da saúde do paciente com doença renal crônica?; não houve imposição de limite de tempo, e utilizou-se as bases de dados SciELO, MEDLINE, LILACS e CINAHL, com cruzamento dos seguintes descritores: renal insufficiency, educational technology, health promotion. Resultados: incluíram-se seis estudos nesta revisão e elencou-se quatro categorias sobre as tecnologias educativas: software para computador ou dispositivo móvel, material impresso, programa educacional via telefone e website. Conclusão: diferentes tecnologias educativas construídas evidenciam a preocupação dos profissionais da saúde em promover a longitudinalidade do cuidado e integralidade da saúde aos indivíduos com doença renal crônica, como também lhes instiga a tornarem-se protagonistas no cuidado da sua saúde.Descritores: Insuficiência Renal Crônica. The development of the pharmaceutical industry is one of the priority tasks of our state, aimed at providing the population of the Russian Federation with modern safe and effective medicines. The solution to this problem is impossible without the formation of a highly qualified personnel potential that meets the demand and expectations of the pharmaceutical market and society as a whole. In this regard, in the system of training of pharmacists in recent years, quite dynamic and flexible transformations have been taking place, dictated by the urgent needs of domestic health care. It should be noted that in the process of implementing this educational standard, the competency-based approach to organizing the process of training modern pharmacists comes to the fore. One of the effective tools for the formation of professional competencies in various educational fields is the case study method. Case study is a training method based on the analysis of real situations from various areas of professional activity and contributing to the development of specialist competency. The competency-based orientation of the case study method is in line with modern ideas about the organization of the educational process for the training of pharmacists. The case study method is actively used in the process of teaching disciplines of the curriculum of the Federal State Budget Educational Establishment of Higher Education KubGMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia, specialty 33.05.01 Pharmacy. Examples of case study tasks as educational technology are presented in the work programs of the curriculum disciplines of the specialty 33.05.01 Pharmacy developed at the Department of Pharmacy. Depending on the content of the taught discipline, these tasks simulate a particular situation from the professional activities of pharmacists, offered to students for a comprehensive analysis and evaluation. The use of this educational technology contributes to the integration of knowledge, skills acquired in the learning process and their competency-based profiling in accordance with the current level of development of domestic health care.
