The polystyrene with end group of Br was synthesized by using MBrP as the initiator, CuBr/ PMDETA as the catalyst system according to atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The effect of reaction temperature was studied and the system was confirmed as the active polymerization. Then PS-Br and CuBr/ PMDETA were respectively used as macroinitiator and catalyst to polymerize tBMA according to atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The structure of the product was characterized by GPCFTIR1H-NMR. The amphiphilic block copolymer was obtained after hydrolysis. And the honeycomb porous film was prepared by PS-b-PMAA through using breath figure method.

We investigated the preparation of porous film of cellulose-based graft copolymer by breath figure method. The effects of substrate, solvent, graft density and graft length on the formation of porous film were elucidated. The results showed that ordered porous films could be facilely formed on the glass and mica substrate, while no ordered porous films were obtained on the silicon substrate. The ordered porous films were formed from the copolymer/CS2 solution, while no ordered porous films were done from the copolymer/CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and toluene solution. Moreover, no ordered porous films were obtained from the copolymer with spare graft density or with long side chain. The results indicated that the substrate, solvent, graft density and graft length had important effects on the ordered porous film.

Polymeric thin films patterned with honeycomb structures were prepared from poly(x-chlorostyrene) and statistical poly(x-chlorostyrene-co-styrene) copolymers by static breath figure method. Each polymeric sample was synthesized by free radical polymerization and its solution in tetrahydrofuran cast on glass wafers under 90% relative humidity (RH). The effect of the chorine substitution in the topography and conformational entropy was evaluated. The entropy of each sample was calculated by using Voronoi tessellation. The obtained results revealed that these materials could be a suitable toolbox to develop a honeycomb patterns with a wide range of pore sizes for a potential use in contact guidance induced culture.

Novel fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) acrylic copolymers were synthesized by the radical solution polymerization. The superhydrophobic coating was prepared using a one-step breath figure method. Chemical constitution, morphology, hydrophobicity, and anticorrosion ability of as-prepared coatings were investigated by the corresponding equipment. The addition of proper fluorinated POSS can synchronously promote the formation of the micro-nano convex structure and the enrichment of fluorinated groups on the surface. Compared to commercial acrylic coating, the fluorinated POSS coating presented enhanced anticorrosion performance. The impedance was the highest and the corrosion current density was the lowest for superhydrophobic coating with 25 wt % fluorinated POSS.
