A model of the partial discharges in a sample of solid insulation with air cavity is presented. The material of the insulation is cross-linked polyethylene. The model is based on an active-capacitive equivalent circuit, in which the resistance of the air cavity at the instant of a partial discharge ignition is shunted by the active resistance of the spark. The model takes into consideration the delay of the discharge development. The evaluation of the diagnostic value of the apparent and true charges is carried out. The results of the apparent and true charges relationship with the dimensions and proportions of the air cavity are presented. It is shown that the same magnitude of both true and apparent charges can correspond to the different volumes and shapes of the air cavities in the insulation.

The questions of stimulation of seed before sowing are considered by the high-frequency electromagnetic field considered. The method of irradiation of seed and determination of him is offered electric descriptions. On the basis of structure of cages electric properties of biological fabric which seed consist of are certain. The change of constituents of active resistance is shown depending on frequency of current. It is experimentally proved that it is impossible to erect an equivalent electric chart to the simple cases of connection of resistances and capacities, namely seed can not be considered a neutral dielectric. The method of estimation of intensity of exchange processes  is developed depending on electric resistance of seed.

A special point was found in the frequency characteristics of the oscillatory circuit, which was not mentioned earlier in textbooks on electrical engineering and radio engineering. The module of complex resistance of the circuit does not depend on the value of the active resistance at a frequency less than  times that of the resonance. The material is of interest to all engineers and scientists specializing in electrical engineering. On its basis, new methods for measuring the parameters of electrical circuits can be developed. Physical interpretation of the phenomenon doesn't exist at the moment.

The dependences of the active resistance of a number of dielectric-conductor composites on the frequency of the applied voltage in the range of less than one megahertz are experimentally investigated. It is shown that the frequency dependence of the active resistance in dielectric-conductor composites with non-magnetic material is small and is limited by the effect of the skin effect, and in composites with ferromagnetic resistivity decreases by one or two orders of magnitude with increasing frequency.

The Book of Revelation commends bold witness-active resistance to powerful, deeply entrenched forces of institutional evil. This courageous witness may bring about suffering and even death but also, as in the example of Martin Luther King, Jr., the transformation of society.

The changes occurring in countries of Central and Eastern Europe after 1945 deprived young people of their subjectivity, divested them of the possibility of legal activities outside the structures controlled by the rulers. Simultaneously, the activities taken by the latter threatened the values which were fundamental for the most of them. Some of young people attempted – more or less – to engage in active resistance, usually determined axiologically. It took, among other things, the form of refusal to participate in official youth organisations while staying in religious communities. Some also publicly expressed their oppositions in the form of participation in street demonstrations. Others joined the anti-communist underground or established their own underground groups. Young people’s anti-system attitudes were discussed on the examples of Belarus, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, the German Democratic Republic and Ukraine.

In the Mayan rural communities in the Yucatan peninsula alternative social projects have been implemented by different actors, which focus on the promotion and production of the local pork species known as cerdo pelón. This represents an alternative to the conventional industrialized pork breeding, mainly for profitability. Through a feminist political ecology lens, and an ethnographic methodology, findings reveal that these alternative projects have given way to an active resistance with positive results in the inclusion, in food security among participants and in the revaluation of traditional practices. The article recommends that social projects prioritize the inclusion of women and the promotion of local biocultural heritage.

This chapter shows how citizens, immigration authorities, and legislators created and institutionalized the deportation machine's interrelated expulsion mechanisms during the 1900s. It discusses how the deportation machine did not always run efficiently or coherently and how immigrants' active resistance to deportation or officials' executive decisions to halt removals caused breakdowns. It also mentions the new means of expulsion that expanded the fledgling immigration service's authority and instilled low-level and high-level bureaucrats with the power to shape ideas about what it meant to be American. The chapter tries to confirm how far immigration officials' authority extend and whether their considerable discretionary power allow them to act autonomously. It also talks about how immigration officials cared most about maximizing the number of expulsions and how it was done was only of secondary importance.
