Abstract Nontrivial diffeomorphisms act on the horizon of a generic 4D black holes and create distinguishing features referred to as soft hair. Amongst these are a left-right pair of Virasoro algebras with associated charges that reproduce the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for Kerr black holes. In this paper we show that if one adds a negative cosmological constant, there is a similar set of infinitesimal diffeomorphisms that act non-trivially on the horizon. The algebra of these diffeomorphisms gives rise to a central charge. Adding a boundary counterterm, justified to achieve integrability, leads to well-defined central charges with cL = cR. The macroscopic area law for Kerr-AdS black holes follows from the assumption of a Cardy formula governing the black hole microstates.

We study the entropy of extremal warped black hole obtained from the topologically massive gravity with a negative cosmological constant of Λ = -1/l2. We compare the entropy Se = πα/3G from the Wald formalism with Sw = πl u /3G from the entropy function approach. These are the same if α = l u. Also we obtain the same Cardy formula when Je = l3 q with Je the angular momentum and q the conserved quantity.

In this paper, we compute the corrections to the Cardy–Verlinde formula of four-dimensional Kerr black hole. These corrections are considered within the context of KKW analysis and arise as a result of the self-gravitational effect. Then we show that one can take into account the semiclassical corrections of the Cardy–Verlinde entropy formula by only redefining the Virasoro operator L0 and the central charge c.

We study the problem of construction of global isometric embedding for spherically symmetric black holes with negative cosmological constant in various dimensions. Firstly, we show that there is no such embedding for 4D RN-AdS black hole in 6D flat ambient space, completing the classification which we started earlier. Then we construct an explicit embedding of non-spinning BTZ black hole in 6D flat ambient space. Using this embedding as an anzats, we then construct a global explicit embedding of d-dimensional Schwarzschild-AdS black hole in a flat ( d + 3 ) -dimensional ambient space.

We construct analytical charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes surrounded by perfect fluids in four dimensional Rastall gravity. Then, we discuss the thermodynamics and phase transitions of charged AdS black holes immersed in regular matter like dust and radiation, or exotic matter like quintessence, ΛCDM type, and phantom fields. Surrounded by phantom field, the charged AdS black hole demonstrates a new phenomenon of reentrant phase transition (RPT) when the parameters Q, Np, and ψ satisfy some certain condition, along with the usual small/large black hole (SBH/LBH) phase transition for the surrounding dust, radiation, quintessence, and cosmological constant fields.

In this note, we study on extended thermodynamics of AdS black holes by varying cosmological constant. We found and discussed pressure and volume of both bulk and boundary physics through AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular, we derive the relation between thermodynamic volume and a chemical potential for M2 brane dual to four dimensional AdS space. In addition, we show that thermodynamic volume of hyperbolic black hole is related to ‘entanglement pressure’ coming from a generalized first law of entanglement entropy.

We study microscopic entropy of the near-extremal rotating black hole in four-dimensional (4D) 𝒩 = 2 supergravity with four charges set pairwise equal from AdS2/CFT1 correspondence. This correspondence is realized in terms of asymptotic symmetries of the AdS2 geometry and a two-dimensional near-horizon effective quantum theory of residual fields from a dimensional reduction proposed by Robinson and Wilczek. We compute the relevant central charge and derive the microscopic entropy of this near-extremal black hole by Cardy formula. Our results can be extended to more general near-extremal rotating black holes in 4D supergravity. They further support the notion that black hole entropy is generally controlled by near-horizon conformal symmetry.

We explore the Hawking evaporation of two-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS2), dilatonic black hole coupled with conformal matter, and derive the Page curve for the entanglement entropy of radiation. We first work in a semiclassical approximation with backreaction. We show that the end-point of the evaporation process is AdS2 with a vanishing dilaton, i.e., a regular, singularity-free, zero-entropy state. We explicitly compute the entanglement entropies of the black hole and the radiation as functions of the horizon radius, using the conformal field theory (CFT) dual to AdS2 gravity. We use a simplified toy model, in which evaporation is described by the forming and growing of a negative mass configuration in the positive-mass black hole interior. This is similar to the “islands” proposal, recently put forward to explain the Page curve for evaporating black holes. The resulting Page curve for AdS2 black holes is in agreement with unitary evolution. The entanglement entropy of the radiation initially grows, closely following a thermal behavior, reaches a maximum at half-way of the evaporation process, and then goes down to zero, following the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy of the black hole. Consistency of our simplified model requires a non-trivial identification of the central charge of the CFT describing AdS2 gravity with the number of species of fields describing Hawking radiation.

We investigate the Kerr–Newman–NUT black hole solution obtained from Plebański–Demiański solutions with several assumptions. The origin of the microscopic entropy of this black hole is investigated using the conjectured Kerr/CFT correspondence which is originally proposed for extremal Kerr black holes. The isometry of the near-horizon extremal Kerr–Newman–NUT black hole shows that the asymptotic symmetry group may be implemented to compute the central charge of the Virasoro algebra. Furthermore, by assuming the Frolov–Thorne vacuum, the conformal temperatures can be obtained. Then by using the Cardy formula, the microscopic entropy is gained which matches the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy. We also employ the Cardy prescription to find the logarithmic correction of the entropy. Then at limit [Formula: see text], the extremal Reissner–Nordström–NUT solution is recovered and by enhancing with the fibered coordinate we find the five-dimensional (5D) solution. The second dual CFT is applied to this black hole to gain the entropy. Finally, the microscopic entropy is still in agreement with the area law of 5D black hole solution. Hence, the extremal Reissner–Nordström–NUT solution is holographically dual to the CFT.

In this paper, we have extended and deepened the study on fractional order phase transition (FPT) of a charged AdS black hole. We have carried out a detailed analysis of FPT for several AdS black hole prototypes: black hole surrounded by quintessence background, 5D Gauss-Bonnet, D dimensional RN-AdS BH, and lastly Kerr black holes. We have shown that the 4/3 order FPT at critical points holds for the first three black holes systems, while for Kerr black holes, the fractional order is rather 1/3. These results suggest two remarkable features: Firstly 4/3 order phase transition can be assumed for asymptotically AdS black holes spherical solutions; secondly the fractional order is not universal and can be affected by the geometric symmetry.
