Abstract In this paper, the process mineralogy, such as the composition and content of elements and minerals, and the chemical composition of main minerals, was studied by the method of mineral liberation analyser. The results show that the ore is limonite bearing-zinc ore, the content of the main mineral limonite is 95.982%, most of limonite is monomeric, a few limonite is associated with pyrite and muscovite, with quartz, with sericite and quartz, limonite contains sericite, synbiote of limonite and sericite. Zinc occurs mainly in limonite, a small amount of zinc in the form of sphalerite, smithsonite and hemimorphite. This study will lay a mineralogical foundation for the follow-up development and utilization of this type of ore.

The process mineralogy of potassium-rich shale from Chaoyang of Liaoning, China, was studied. Research results showed there are much less variety and smaller quantities in mineral compositions. Calculated mineral composition by means of chemical composition analysis combined with XRD, MLA, IR and TG-DSC analyses showed that main minerals with were Potassium-feldspar, muscovite, biotite and illite, and gangue minerals were quartz and small amounts of hematite. Potassium-rich minerals such as potassium-feldspar and muscovite contact smoothly with quartz respectively, and there was the direction arrangement among potassium-feldspar, quartz and muscovite in the shale. And quartz and hematite were main cement in the shale. The influences of the research results on the potassium extraction from potassium-rich shale were distinct.

To identify the process mineralogical properties of kyanite from Heibei so as to provide a mineralogical basis for its chemical composition, mineral constituent, ores texture and structure and so on . The results show that: the kyanite Al2O3 21.50%, SiO2 52.87%, using high intensity magnetic separation —gravity separation— flotation folwsheet. Experiments show that, the grinding fineness of -0.074mm 65%, with strong intensity magnetic separation, magnetic concentrate by shaking the low intensity magnetic separation,we can get magnetite, garnet, biotite and phlogopite four concentrates, strong magnetic ore tailings consolidated by a rocking bed mud thrown first, refined through a coarse fine two shake, shake in after a rough featured a parted, won the 60.38% grade of Kyanite concentrate and 85% grade quartz ore.

Pterocarpus indicus was extracted by three organic solvents: ethanol, ethanol/ benzene (1:2), and ethanol/methanol (1:1). The extracts was analyzed by FT-IR, GC-MS, TG, Py-GC-MS, and TDS-GC-MS. Abundant bioactive ingredients in the Pterocarpus indicus extracts included alkanes, phenols, alcohols, esters, carboxylates, alkenes, acids, and aromatic compounds. The main active ingredients was Cinnamaldehyde, (E)-.This study of the chemical composition of Pterocarpus indicus provides a scientific basis for the development and utilization of the plant, with potential applications in the fields of biomedicine, the chemical industry, cosmetics, skin care products, and spices.

Over the last 5 years there have been a large number of transmission pipelines installed with much of the pipe procured and manufactured outside of North America — many from non-integrated pipe manufacturers. Over this same period there have been a significant number of pre-operation field hydrostatic testing pipe failures as a consequence of low and variable pipe strength, and chemical composition variations. A strong, structured and effective pipe procurement and manufacturing process following the proven “plan–do–check–act” quality assurance model can minimize such issues. Further, such a process can properly manage the inevitable process and product deviations ultimately minimizing project timeline disruptions and reducing project costs. A practical outline of the key features of such a system are discussed from the specification and bid package development through vendor qualification, bid contract review, slab, plate and pipe manufacturing (and the process control documentation and verification), manufacturing surveillance, and follow-up activities.

AbstractDuring the last decade the X-ray observations ROSAT and ASCA have made it possible to distinguish between photospheric (thermal) and (nonthermal) magnetospheric radiation of single neutron stars. The next generation of X-ray satellites (Chandra, XMM and Astro-E) and the follow-up mission Constellation and XEUS- will allow spectroscopic and timing studies with much higher sensitivity and resolution. Primary future goals are to determine the chemical composition of neutron star photospheres and to measure the gravitational redshift of spectral features.

Foreign body ingestion by a child is not an uncommon occurrence. Alkaline disc battery presents special hazards because of its small size, rounded shape and chemical composition. A total of 154 cases of foreign body ingestion were documented in five year long study. Out of these 9(5.85%) children had ingested alkaline disc batteries. One (1.12%) could be removed endoscopically from oesophagous. Two (22.23%) boys underwent laparotomy as the battery cases were broken. Rest of the 6 (66.66%) could be treated conservatively. In two cases (22.23%) laxative use enhanced the process of recovery. Emphasis is made on the careful follow up approach for this benign but potentially dangerous condition in contrast to a more radical approach propagated by many.

The natural bamboo fiber is a green environmental protection type fiber material extracted from bamboo. Compared with other fibers, it has better permeability, unique resilience, transient water absorption, antibacterial activity, deodorant activity, and a strong lateral and longitudinal strength. This paper reviews the structure of natural bamboo fiber and its characteristics, physical morphology, chemical composition, hygroscopicity and moisture liberation, antibacterial activity, anti-ultraviolet function, spinning performance of the development and utilization status of bamboo fiber, which provides reference for the research and utilization of natural bamboo fiber.

A refractory phosphate ore obtained from Guizhou, China, contains high amounts of detrimental metal impurities (e.g., Fe, Al, and Mg) which affect the deep wet processing of phosphorus products before use. In this study, mineralogy parameters of the ore such as mineral composition, disseminated particle size, mineral liberation degree, and intergrowth relationship were investigated using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD), and advanced mineral identification and characterization system (AMICS). The mechanism for flotation separation was also discussed. The results showed that the ore was a fine-grained calcareous-siliceous collophanite with high P2O5 grade. The gangue minerals such as quartz, sericite (muscovite), pyrite, and dolomite were finely disseminated and encapsulated by fluoroapatite particles in a rather complex relationship. A double reverse flotation process was carried out based on the separation principle of less flotation and more inhibition. A phosphorous concentrate with a P2O5 grade of 35.53%, SiO2 content of 5.88%, MgO content of 0.91%, sesquioxide (Fe2O3+Al2O3) content of 1.98%, MER value of 8.13%, and phosphorus recovery of 75.04% was obtained. Based on the flotation test results and the analysis of process mineralogy parameters, we concluded that the main causes of difficulty in separation of collophanite are fine disseminated particle size, poor mineral liberation degree, and serious argillization. The selection of foam-controlled collectors, efficient dispersing inhibitors and classified desliming process will be necessary for improving flotation index. These results provide a technical reference for subsequent development and utilization of collophanite resources.
