Mycotic aneurysm of popliteal artery is a very rare condition, most commonly caused by gram positive organisms. This term was coined by William Osler describing aneurysms associated with bacterial endocarditis. Though cases of peripheral vessel mycotic aneurysm are very rare, it is a dangerous condition as it can go for rupture/ thrombosis. The treatment of choice is resection and revascularization, preferably by using autologous vein graft along with antibiotics. A 35-year-old female who presented with features of cerebrovascular accident, during the course of stay was diagnosed to have mycotic aneurysm of the left popliteal artery. We describe the clinical course, investigation findings and challenges faced in management of the case.

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a dangerous condition that threatens life because of immune system dysregulation caused by an infection resulting in organ failure. One of the most common resistant strain bacteria that can cause sepsis is Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Vancomycin is the first-line therapy for treating sepsis infection caused by MRSA, but recently there have been some MRSA strains that are resistant to vancomycin therapy. AIM: This study aimed to review comparison between vancomycin and daptomycin for sepsis infection antibiotics therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research was a systematic review using three databases such as PubMed, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect. The journal articles included in this study were about randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies published from 2011 to 2020. RESULTS: This research included seven RCT studies, but none of them discuss the usage of daptomycin for sepsis treatment caused by MRSA. They discuss more the effect of dose, method of administration, and side effects of vancomycin therapy in relation to the outcome of the patient. CONCLUSIONS: Because of the lack of RCT articles that conducted experiments of daptomycin usage for sepsis treatment caused by MRSA infection, this research could not compare the effectiveness between vancomycin and daptomycin. However, from some case reports included in this research, there was evidence that the usage of daptomycin base after vancomycin treatment failure will cause another treatment failure.

At present, cultural heritage is in a dangerous condition and it is all influenced by several factors such as natural disasters and man-made disasters. For example, in Indonesia in March 2018 there was a destruction of the Dayak Indigenous Sites whose cases were damaged due to human factors, not to mention talking about the destruction of damaged cultural sites such as in several countries such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan & Indonesia. The use of technology-based Virtual Reality (VR) in maintaining cultural heritage is very important because the identity that is in cultural heritage is the foundation of evidence of human life in the past. Threats in the form of human behavior and natural disasters have an impact of erasing historical and cultural traces which could threaten a nation in relation to the main national interests of a country. Maximizing the benefits of technological advancements by using Virtual Reality as an alternative to preserve cultural heritage & cultural exploration, this utilization can lower the cost of study of cultural exploration such as exploration of cultural heritage locations that are far especially in transport costs.

Abstract Background Retropharyngeal abscess (RPA) is a life-threatening, dangerous condition and uncommon in adults. The coexistence of RPA, cervical spinal epidural abscess (CSEA), and spondylodiscitis is extremely rare. Case presentation We present a case with a retropharyngeal and epidural abscess caused by spondylodiscitis. A 61-year-old man was referred to our clinic with the complaints of sore throat, limitation in neck range of motion, numbness, and weakness in the left arm and the left ear for one month. The airway was not obstructed. Neurological deficits were detected in his left arm. Cervical computed tomography revealed a 50 × 30 × 15 mm retropharyngeal abscess. Cervical magnetic resonance imaging showed abscess, C5–6 spondylodiscitis and epidural abscess, and myelopathic signal changes in the C3–7 spinal cord. The abscess was drained, and C5–6 discectomy was performed. The patient was discharged with cervical collar and antibiotics. Conclusions Multidisciplinary approach that consists of otolaryngologist, neurosurgeon, and infectious disease specialist is needed to avoid complications and any delay.

Abstract Human adaptation and surface sensations to environmental and climate change during outdoor exercise are often not fully consistent with the true responses of body organs. Body surface sensations may be adaptive and insensitive due to prolonged outdoor activity. This causes the body surface to be insensitive or under-responsive to rapid changes in the external environment, when the internal organs of the body are sometimes working at abnormal indications, and if this unhealthy condition continues for a long time and progresses to a dangerous condition, the danger is approaching and the body may enter a state of paralysis at this time without knowing it. This is where a wearable system that monitors environmental and physiological indicators in real time and analyzes the measured data to broadcast early warnings is needed. This system adds a certain degree of safety to outdoor sports, and the data can be used as a reference for the scientific validity of the exercise.

The article contains an overview of new trends in Ukrainian literary and colloquial language development in historical retrospect and dynamics. In particular, changes in the lexical structure of language, new phenomena in word formation, morphology and syntax, innovative shifts in styles, etc., in the context of communicative strategies and tactics, rhetorical, stylistic, and linguistic norms and techniques adopted in various spheres of communication are considered. The article is aimed at forming ideas and gaining knowledge in the field of the theory of the modern Ukrainian language in those sections that are distinguished by the greatest significance of the theoretical approach (grammar, syntax), as well as skills and abilities in those parts that require an applied application (culture of oral and written communication, stylistics, rhetoric, genre studies, the principles of spelling). With the dominant idea of the pluralism of norms and an orientation towards their non-rigid codification, there is also an idea of the loosening of the norms of the literary language, of the grave and even dangerous condition experienced by the modern Ukrainian literary language.

Small bowel intussusceptions are much less common than the ileocolic type, with jejunoileal intussusceptions among the rarest [1].Gangrenous Intussusception is a dangerous condition requiring immediate revival, early exploration, and resection of the affected bowel to lessen mortality and morbidity. Jejunal polyps causing such pathology are uncommon and noteworthy. Here we present one such case.

Abstract Background Hyperhidorsis is a condition in which sweat production exceeds that which is needed for thermoregulation, and can affect the hands, feet, axiall, face, back, grain, and legs. It is adisabling condition that affect, both children and adults, with in audience rate of 1-3% and onset usually during childhood or adokscne. Although not a dangerous condition, hyperhidrosis can cause social and occupational impairment and emotional distress and facilitate the development of secondary morbidity. Objectives So our aim to study the efficacy and safety of photodynamic therapy in management of primary palmar hyperhidrosis using two photosensitizers [MB2% and eosin]. Patients and Methods Twenty patients with primary palmar hyperhidrosis were recruited from the outpatient clinic of the Dermatology and Venereology department, Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams University during the period from 2017 to 2018. The protocol was approved by Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University ethical committee (FWA000017585). An informed written consent was obtained from all patients prior to enrolment in the study. It is a right-left controlled study which included 20 patients with primary palmar hyperhidrosis. Results Our study showed that the PDT had positive treatment outcome in palmar hyperhidrosis with sustainable efficacy for at least twelve weeks after treatment stoppage. Conclusion Photodynamic therapy is an effective, safe and cheap method for management of primary palmar hyperhidrosis. Both eosin and methylene blue 2% can be used effectively as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy with good results for treatment of primary palmar hyperhidrosis with minimal tolerable side effects.

An abnormally invasive placenta (AIP) is a placenta that cannot be removed spontaneously or manually without causing severe bleeding. It is a dangerous condition associated with a high rate of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality due to the high rate of massive bleeding and visceral injuries. The standardized ultrasound diagnostic criteria have helped improve its early diagnosis, which is essential to plan coordinated actions to reduce associated morbimortality. We present a case report in which ultrasound diagnosis played a decisive role, enabling the coordination of a multidisciplinary team and improving the immediate care of both mother and newborn. Cesarean hysterectomy was performed with minimal blood loss and a good postsurgical recovery.
