Using normalized Hermite functions, we construct bases in the space of square integrable functions on the unit circle (L2(C)) and in l2(Z), which are related to each other by means of the Fourier transform and the discrete Fourier transform. These relations are unitary. The construction of orthonormal bases requires the use of the Gramm–Schmidt method. On both spaces, we have provided ladder operators with the same properties as the ladder operators for the one-dimensional quantum oscillator. These operators are linear combinations of some multiplication- and differentiation-like operators that, when applied to periodic functions, preserve periodicity. Finally, we have constructed riggings for both L2(C) and l2(Z), so that all the mentioned operators are continuous.

The eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of Dirac–Pauli equation have been obtained for a neutron with anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) in the presence of a strong magnetic field with cylindrical symmetry. In our calculations, the Nikiforov and Uvarov (NU) method has been used. Using the eigenfunctions and construction of the ladder operators, we show that these generators satisfy su(2) Lie algebra and computed the second-order Casimir operator of the lie algebra.

We bring to light an electroweak model which has been reappearing in the literature under various guises.[Formula: see text] In this model, weak isospin is shown to act automatically on states of only a single chirality (left). This is achieved by building the model exclusively from the raising and lowering operators of the Clifford algebra [Formula: see text]. That is, states constructed from these ladder operators mimic the behaviour of left- and right-handed electrons and neutrinos under unitary ladder operator symmetry. This ladder operator symmetry is found to be generated uniquely by [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Crucially, the model demonstrates how parity can be maximally violated, without the usual step of introducing extra gauge and extra Higgs bosons, or ad hoc projectors.

Abstract Two new photon-modulated spin coherent states (SCSs) are introduced by operating the spin ladder operators J ± on the ordinary SCS in the Holstein-Primakoff realization and the nonclassicality is exhibited via their photon number distribution, second-order correlation function, photocount distribution and negativity of Wigner distribution. Analytical results show that the photocount distribution is a Bernoulli distribution and the Wigner functions are only associated with two-variable Hermite polynomials. Compared with the ordinary SCS, the photon-modulated SCSs exhibit more stronger nonclassicality in certain regions of the photon modulated number k and spin number j, which means that the nonclassicality can be enhanced by selecting suitable parameters.

A fully canonical quantization of electromagnetic field in the presence of a bi-anisotropic absorbing magneto-dielectric cylindrical shell is provided. The mode expansions of the dynamical quantum fields, contained in the theory, is achieved and the ladder operators of the system are introduced. Using the Frobenius’s series technique, the Maxwell’s equations in the presence of the bi-anisotropic absorbing magneto-dielectric cylindrical shell are solved and the space–time dependence of the quantized electromagnetic field is obtained. Applying the conservation principle of the angular momentum, the net quantum vacuum torque exerted on the bi-anisotropic absorbing magneto-dielectric cylindrical shell is calculated. The net quantum vacuum torque exerted on the cylindrical shell is calculated in the vacuum state and the thermal state of the system. The quantum vacuum torque on the cylindrical shell identically vanishes when the bi-anisotropic absorbing magneto-dielectric cylindrical shell is converted to an isotropic one.

We use the recursion relations of the continuous [Formula: see text]-Hermite polynomials and obtain the [Formula: see text]-difference realizations of the ladder operators of a [Formula: see text]-oscillator algebra in terms of the Askey–Wilson operator. For [Formula: see text]-deformed coherent states associated with a disc in the radius [Formula: see text], we obtain a compact form in [Formula: see text]-representation by using the generating function of the continuous [Formula: see text]-Hermite polynomials, too. In this way, we obtain a [Formula: see text]-difference realization for the [Formula: see text]-oscillator algebra in the finite interval [Formula: see text] as a [Formula: see text]-generalization of known differential formalism with respect to [Formula: see text] in the interval [Formula: see text] of the simple harmonic oscillator.
