ABSTRACT Consistent with educational theory, research studies in accounting education substantiate claims of the benefits associated with active learning. This paper describes how I integrate research into an undergraduate accounting course using a pedagogical approach which fosters active learning. Throughout the course, students read and discuss excerpts from accounting journal articles related to class topics. These readings are intended to enhance students' understanding of the topics and develop their awareness of how accounting research and accounting practice are related. After becoming familiar with research articles and the research process, students are then challenged to complete a research study following the scientific method, in which they investigate research questions corresponding to the course content and test hypotheses using archival data. Results from a survey created to assess this research experience reveal that 94 percent of respondents indicated this project substantially improved their level of knowledge, skills, and abilities related to accounting. I supply instructional tools for faculty interested in implementing a similar program.

The mechanism of SWOT analysis of the socio-economic development of the municipality is disclosed. SWOT analysis is considered as a method of strategic planning, which consists in identifying the results of the interaction of factors internal and external environment of the socio-economic development of the municipality and their division into four categories: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The role of questioning and assessing the opinions of various respondents (population, entrepreneurs, authorities, public organizations) to confirm the authenticity of statistical data within the framework of identifying strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats at the meso level. The example of the formation of key problems and competitive advantages of the municipality, which are the basis for the development of the general goal and strategic priorities of the long-term development of the municipality based on the SWOT analysis of the socio-economic development of the municipality, is shown. In particular, the realization of the potential of the district through the development of the agricultural sector and the processing industry, the growth of the local budget and the improvement of the life of citizens was proposed as the general goal of the development of the studied municipality until 2035. The possibility and expediency of applying the results of the SWOT analysis in the development of strategies and the formation of three scenarios of socio-economic development of the studied municipal area: target (optimistic), basic (moderate) and inertial (pessimistic) characterizing the trajectory, prospects and quality of development are substantiated. The practical significance of the presented tool is manifested in the promising application of its results for the development of long-term strategies for the socio-economic development of regions, regions and the state. The research experience can become an example for assessing the socio-economic development of other municipalities of the Russian Federation.

The purpose of the study is to comprehend and highlight the key ones moments of the phenomenon of "new human rights", in particular the right to be forgotten. Method. The research methodology is a set of philosophical and general scientific methods. Determinants are the method of dialectics, comparative and hermeneutic, as well as sociocultural and axiological approaches. Results. It is shown that the twentieth and twenty-first centuries have a rich research experience in understanding the phenomenon of human rights, but it does not ground for claiming that humanity has a finite and complete human rights concept. It turns out that the list of human rights is there an open system that is supplemented by new rights that are determined by socio-cultural factors. Such factors of "new human rights" on the current stage of human progress are the rapid development of information technologies (IT), the Internet, the consequences of the fourth industrial revolution and the specifics of post-industrial society. The article pays special attention to the "right to be forgotten", which today is ambiguous for meaningful content and does not have a clear mechanism for ensuring and protecting, despite being effective in the EU. Scientific novelty. In the article, it turns out that the "right to be forgotten" in its content is close to the law protection of personal and private life, and by their ideological values – with tolerance. Practical significance. The results of the study can be used in further philosophical and theoretical and legal scientific research, preparation of special courses.

Subject. The article focuses on the phenomenon of innovative potential of socio?economic actors at different hierarchical levels (macro-, meso-, micro-) through the triple interaction of university, industry and government. Objectives. We devise our own toolkit by involving elements of vector calculus and field theory so as to analyze how innovation influences the development of the above actors, and test it from perspectives of defining the innovative potential of Russia as a macroactor. Methods. The research draws upon elements of vector calculus and field theory (gradient, divergence, continuity equation), method of analogies to adapt concepts of natural sciences to economics (dividing the above actors' characteristics into structural and dynamic by their substantive comparison), regression analysis to define components of the region’s innovative potential. Results. We devise the technique for defining the innovative potential of socio-economic actors at different hierarchical levels through the lens of the triple helix University–Industry–Government. The innovative potential is represented with three elements. The proposed tool kit was tested by examining trends in Russia's innovative potential during 2010–2015. As the analysis shows, the 'University' element makes the most valuable contribution. Conclusions and Relevance. Having tested the technique, we assured not only its practical significance, flexibility of the proposed toolkit, but also a method for handling official statistics irrespective of its quality. Domestic data processing is too difficult that it shall be compensated with a transparent and concise toolkit.

Proper preparative procedures are a prerequisite for the validity of the results of x-ray microanalysis of biological tissue. Clinical applications of x-ray microanalysis are often concerned with diagnostic problems and the results may have profound practical significance for the patient. From this point of view it is especially important that specimen preparation for clinical applications is carried out correctly. Some clinical problems require very little tissue preparation. Hair, nails, and kidney and gallbladder stones may be examined and analyzed after carbon coating. High levels of zinc or copper in hair may be indicative of dermatological or systemic diseases. Nail clippings may be analyzed (as an alternative to the more conventional sweat test) to confirm a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. X-ray microanalysis in combination with scanning electron microscopy has been shown to be the most reliable method for the identification of the components of kidney or gallbladder stones.A quantitatively very important clinical application of x-ray microanalysis is the identification and quantification of asbestos and other exogenous particles in lung.
