The role of the time factor in management is increasing. Change directs attention to the time factor from the point of view of the organisation, and management does the same from that of the person. I examined the time management practice of managers of organisations related to agribusiness, and the reaction time characterising the adaption ability of the organisations through a questionnaire survey. I analysed the collected data with scientifically established statistical methods. During studying resources, managing tasks, change, reaction time and effect I explored the features of time as resource, the significance of the time factor, the improvability of time efficiency in the different managing functions, the factors supporting and hindering the quick reaction of organisations, and what rearrangements can be seen in management work nowadays.

Bonfire became the earliest form in shaping space when people gathered around the fire. It was stated by Vitruvius and developed by many theoretician of architecture. Nowadays, the role of fire to the space (architecture) lessened and even disappeared along with technology development. Contrarily, the phenomenon in Tengger showed different result. The presence of hearth (pawon) in Tenggerese house became stronger. It could be seen from the increasing number of hearth there. This research shows, there was a close connection between society structure along with time factor and the number of hearth along with its use in Tenggerese house. The number of hearth in a house could be increased if the number of family members were increased as well. It is possible that the segmentation of hearth space in Tenggerese house could be affected by the influence of the number of family members to the changes of hearth. This possibility would be explored in the research. Interpretive-Historic research method was used in the research to explore the phenomenon found in the field. By exploring field data and historical data, it was finally shown the influence of the changes number in family members to the segmentation of hearth space in Tenggerese house, particularly those related to the marriage and mortality. Space segmentation, especially segmentation of the hearth space in Tengger successfully demonstrated a close link with the change in the numbers of family members.

managerial efficiency. The system of investigations is in accordance with the method elaborated and applied by the Department of Management Science of UD, CAS, Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Berde, 2003). This method involves questionnaire interviews and corporate data collection. The first part of the questionnaire contains data with respect to the company, while the second part focuses on the manager being interviewed. The third part is a closed, directed interview-based preference assessment. I aim to assess the sample at my disposal in order to test the research model. In the course of the assessment of questionnaires, I apply descriptive statistical methods for the assessment of the personal and professional features of the managers interviewed and the characteristics of the companies. In the case of questions substantively concerning the time factor – resource, managerial function, reaction time, and impact assessments – I carry out hypothesis testing. I draw up a zero hypothesis, whose appropriateness I test by means of statistical methods. I usually apply rank correlation for the evaluation of the relationship between the variables measured on an ordinal scale in my investigations. This can be applied if not the exact values of the given variables, but only their order in one respect or another is known. If the group building criterion is two-variable Mann-Whimey, if a multi-variable Kruskal-Wallis trial can be applied, which, after the rank transformation, gives information about the acceptance or refusal of the Ho hypothesis through the average of the ranks. The model also contains the managers’ evaluation of the time factor in management work.

The publication evaluates the applicability of John Boyd’s OODA Loop (observe-orient-decide-act) theory for the analysis of human error in the maritime industry. The predominant share of human error among the range of maritime safety issues is revealed. The interdependence between the different phases of the OODA Loop to achieve the desired state of maritime safety is studied, namely the correct actions in each of the implemented cycles. So, the paramount importance of situational awareness as a prerequisite for safety is proven. The mechanisms for manifestation of other factors endangering maritime safety are also analyzed, such as: lack of competence, fatigue, stress, etc. In conclusion, the role of the time factor in the realization of the OODA Loop is assessed and in this context, approaches are offered to increase the possibility for realization of a quality loop.
