Background: Nine years have passed since the Journal of Bone Metabolism (JBM) was launched as an English journal in 2012; it was finally included in Scopus in January 2019. Therefore, this study aimed to provide evidence of increased international recognition based on journal metrics and reflect on its efforts to be recognized as a top-notch journal.Methods: Databases, such as the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Korean Citation Index (KCI), and citation indicators, including the impact factor (IF) and SCImago journal rank (SJR) were reviewed and calculated according to years, and the results were drawn. Furthermore, country-wise contributions and top-cited articles were also investigated.Results: The JBM 2020 IF was 2.17 in the WoS. The 2020 SJR in Scopus was 0.334, with a ranking of 165/219 (75.3%) in the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism category. The 2020 KCI was 0.42. Of 263 articles, 260 were citable (98.9%), and of 176 original articles, 15 (8.5%) were supported by research grants. The total citation of JBM has increased from 16 in 2014 to 141 in 2020; however, its KCI remained stationary from 0.29 in 2015 to 0.42 in 2020.Conclusions: Currently, JBM is increasingly cited by international researchers than Korean researchers, indicating that the journal’s content is valued at an international level. Its inclusion in PubMed Central appears to have increased its international relevance; however, publishing English-only articles may hinder its use domestically. Therefore, efforts should be made to increase citation rates and enhance domestic readership.

Nowadays, multiple phenomena have promoted an impact on society, constituting in some cases, not only a contribution of benefits but also of risks. Among them, the fake news phenomenon is considered one of the most burning phenomena today due to the risk it poses to society. In view of this situation, the research community has carried out numerous studies that seek to address this issue from a multidisciplinary perspective. Based on this, the objective of this work was to analyze the productivity and, therefore, the impact of this topic in the research community. To this end, this work advocated a scientometric-type methodology, through scientometric laws, impact indicators, and scientific evolution of 640 publications of the web of science (WOS). The results showed the impact of the fake news discipline today, which is considered an emerging issue that is of interest to many knowledge disciplines around the world. Likewise, the results showed that the publications not only have a focus on analyzing the veracity or not of the news, but that it begins to vertebrate a new line of an investigation directed to the informational education and towards the prevention of the consumption of this type of news through the internet.

Aim This study charts the growth of the scientific journal literature on headache for 30+ years (1983–2014). Methods Using the Web of Science, articles published in four two-year periods (1983–1984, 1993–1994, 2003–2004, 2013–2014) from journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded database were retrieved and analyzed. Results From 1983–1984 to 2013–2014, the scientific literature on headache increased nearly fourfold (3.8) from 468 to 1776 articles; the number of participating countries more than doubled (26 to 67); and the two most prolific countries in each period were the USA and Italy. While several European countries (Italy, Germany, UK and Denmark) were among the top 10 in each period, the notable appearance of Turkey, China and Brazil among the top 10 in 2013–2014 indicates the growing geographic spread of publications on headache research. Meanwhile, the comet-like distribution of journals has not changed: two journals, Headache and Cephalalgia, persist throughout as the nucleus, with the tail increasing more than threefold from 141 journals in 1983–1984 to 462 in 2013–2014. Conclusion Our study follows the recent growth and spread of the scientific literature on headache research and should stimulate further bibliometric investigation in this field.

Se ha buscado analizar la producción científica sobre el término Open Government en la base de datos Web of Science durante el período de 2010 a 2016, usando como filtro de búsqueda los títulos de los artículos en todas las lenguas y considerando la dispersión de la producción intelectual internacional. La investigación seleccionó las revistas más relevantes del área de ciencias sociales aplicadas, observando el impacto de esas revistas en esta área de conocimiento. La investigación es de carácter cuantitativo, pues se analizó la producción científica a través del acceso en línea a la base de datos Web of Science que alcanzó hasta 3.165 registros totales. Para hacer el análisis de la dispersión de la literatura afectada se aplicó la ley bibliométrica de Bradford. Se empleó como herramienta de hoja de cálculo para analizar los datos obtenidos en la minería, así como para tabularlos y tratarlos. El trabajo revela que, a lo largo de los años, las publicaciones muestran una aparición no lineal, registrándose un aumento significativo en la producción relativa al contexto internacional. De acuerdo con el núcleo de la ley de Bradford, se demuestra que el término Open Government muestra calidad en las publicaciones científicas en las que se difunde, pero que aún se encuentra en una fase de lucha por su espacio en las publicaciones científicas dentro de una ciencia actual en transformación. The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific production of the term Open Government in the Web of Science database from 2010 to 2016, using as search filter the titles of articles in all languages, considering the distribution of international intellectual productions. The research retrieved the most relevant journals in the area of applied social sciences, observing the impact of these journals to this area of knowledge. The research has a quantitative character, as it was analyzed the scientific production with online access of the Web of Science database covering a total of 3,165 documents. The work reveals non-linearity in publications over the years recording a significant increase in production in an international context. Objetivou-se analisar a produção cientifica sobre o termo Open Government na base de dados Web of Science no período de 2010 a 2016, usando como filtro de busca os títulos dos artigos em todas as linguagens, considerando a distribuição das produções intelectuais internacionais. A pesquisa recuperou os periódicos mais relevantes da área de ciências sociais aplicadas, observando seu impacto para esta área de conhecimento. A pesquisa tem caráter quantitativo, pois analisou-se a produção cientifica com acesso online da base de dados Web of Scienceabrangendo um total de 3.165 registros. Aplicou-se uma das principais leis da bibliometria, a lei de Bradford para essa análise. Utilizou-se uma ferramenta de planilha para análise da mineração, tabulação e tratamento dos dados. O trabalho revela a não linearidade nas publicações ao longo dos anos registrando um aumento significativo na produção em um contexto internacional. Conclui-se que o termo Open Government tem qualidade em produções científicas conforme o núcleo da lei de Bradford demonstrada nesse estudo, porém, o termo ainda está ganhando espaço em publicações cientificas na atualidade em uma ciência em transformação.

IntroductionRecent advances in the field of medical imaging and minimal invasive surgery have improved the diagnosis and treatment of adrenal incidentalomas. Recent studies suggest increased morbidity and mortality among patients with obesity following laparoscopic adrenalectomy compared with patients without obesity. However, this claim remains to be ascertained. This review seeks to assess the outcome of patients with and without obesity after adrenalectomy.Methods and designWe will include cohort studies, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies and case series with more than 30 participants. EMBASE, Medline and Web of Science (Web of Science Core Collection, Current Contents Connect, KCI-Korean Journal Database, SciELO Citation Index, Russian Science Citation Index) will be searched for relevant abstracts of studies published between 1 January 2000 and 31 May 2019, without language restriction. The review will be reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines. After screening of abstracts, study selection, data extraction and methodological quality assessment, we shall assess the studies individually for clinical and statistical heterogeneity. Random-effect meta-analysis will be used to pool studies judged to be clinically homogenous. The Harbord’s test and visual inspection of funnel plots will be used to assess publication bias. Results will be presented by country and region.Ethics and disseminationSince primary data are not collected in this study, ethical approval is not required. This review is expected to provide relevant data on the impact of body mass index on the outcome of laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Sharing economy research has risen exponentially during the last 4 years. Although several theoretical revisions on this topic have been developed, a conceptual analysis based on bibliometric techniques and science mapping tools is lacking. Within this framework, this article has two aims: (i) to carry on a performance analysis to identify the outstanding themes and (ii) to visually present the scientific structure by topics of research in sharing-collaborative economy as well as its evolution to identify future directions. The resources in the Web of Science Citation Index were used. Intelligent techniques and, more specifically, the SciMAT tool (based on co-word analysis and h-index analysis) were applied using a sample of 940 indexed papers from 2010 to 2020 (with 10.652 global citations). Our results show that the new post-pandemic era requires the sharing economy industry to investigate alternative ways: to improve trust, to innovate, to search for authenticity and experiences, to attend tourist motivations based on sustainability, and to use big data and manage overtourism.

AbstractCitation analysis of a certain publication acknowledges its impact on the scientific community. This study conducted a multivariate analysis of the top 50 most cited articles published on the field of Bioactive Glass. A systemic search was performed using the “All database” section of the Web of Science to retrieve the top 50 most cited original publications. The selected articles were then manually cross-matched with Elsevier Scopus and Google Scholar Database. Parameters such as article title, authorship, institution, country of publication, year, citation count, citation density, current citation index, and journal name were retrieved from Web of Science. Different ranges of citation numbers were retrieved for these publications in which 197-913 are from Web of Science, 209-962 are from Elsevier Scopus, and 269-1225 are from Google Scholar. A total of 153 authors contributed to this marked list, where Professor L.L. Hench contributed the highest number of articles (n=21). Imperial College London published the highest number of articles (n=21). In summary, this study provides a good scientometric picture of bioactive glass related publications, which illustrate the trend of biomaterials development over the years and suggests future scopes to the scientific community.

This article is motivated by the work as editor-in-chief of the Austrian Journal of Statistics and contains detailed analyses about the impact of the Austrian Journal of Statistics. The impact of a journal is typically expressed by journal metrics indicators. One of the important ones, the journal impact factor is calculated from the Web of Science (WoS) database by Clarivate Analytics. It is known that newly established journals or journals without membership in big publishers often face difficulties to be included, e.g., in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and thus they do not receive a WoS journal impact factor, as it is the case for example, for the Austrian Journal of Statistics. In this study, a novel approach is pursued modeling and predicting the WoS impact factor of journals using open access or partly open-access databases, like Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Scopus. I hypothesize a functional linear dependency between citation counts in these databases and the journal impact factor. These functional relationships enable the development of a model that may allow estimating the impact factor for new, small, and independent journals not listed in SCI. However, only good results could be achieved with robust linear regression and well-chosen models. In addition, this study demonstrates that the WoS impact factor of SCI listed journals can be successfully estimated without using the Web of Science database and therefore the dependency of researchers and institutions to this popular database can be minimized. These results suggest that the statistical model developed here can be well applied to predict the WoS impact factor using alternative open-access databases.
