Twitter library account: highlights for the users and librarians

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the scholarly literature relating to the usage of Twitter in library settings. Various uses of Twitter and strategies used to promote effective utilisation of Twitter in the library are given. The library uses Twitter accounts to support various information services, interact with users and for collecting feedback from users for the services given. Design/methodology/approach The Google Scholar database was consulted to extract the desired data published in the five years (2015–2019). Then, the content analysis method was used to analyse the retrieved literature. Findings The findings revealed that Twitter is used by both the library and its users. The library uses Twitter accounts to support various information services, interact with users and for collecting feedback from users for the services given. Furthermore, the findings revealed different ways that can be implemented to improve the effective utilisation of Twitter in the library. Research limitations/implications The main limitation of this study is that the findings of the research are based on the data collected from Google Scholar in the five years only. Originality/value This study tries to explore how Twitter is used in the library settings and the strategies that when implemented can help to ensure that libraries reap the best from Twitter.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyse the disclosure of information on the fight against corruption in the sustainability reports of Portuguese companies. Design/methodology/approach – Anti-corruption disclosure in the sustainability reports for 2009 of Portuguese firms, published on the website of the Portugal’s Business Council for Sustainability Development, is analysed. Three hypotheses are tested about associations between such disclosure and firm-specific variables. Findings – Companies with a high visibility in terms of risk of corruption (companies in sectors with higher risk and government-owned companies) and companies that engage in association with the United Nations Global Compact seem to exhibit greater concern to improve the corporate image through disclosure. Research limitations/implications – There may be content analysis issues associated with subjectivity in the coding process and the use of a limited content analysis method. Originality/value – This paper adds to the scarce research on the fight against corruption in corporate social responsibility and the reporting thereof by providing new empirical data.

Purpose Bian embroidery is a cultural heritage at the national level in China. Evaluating its cultural value is an important step in determining the heritage value of Bian embroidery. Design/methodology/approach This paper elaborates on the connotation of the cultural value of Bian embroidery and tries to evaluate specifically the cultural value of the Bian embroidery heritage on the basis of a questionnaire survey. Findings The innovation is the construction of a complete evaluation system of cultural value that combines fuzzy comprehensive valuation with a content analysis method from which the cultural value of Bian embroidery heritage can be derived. Research limitations/implications The concept of evaluating cultural value put forward in this paper could be further used to evaluate other cultural heritage artifacts.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the conditions of the wajibah (obligatory) will under compilation of Islamic law (KHI) and the application and rationale of wajibah wills in religious justice. The wajibah will is a form of judicial wealth transition that can deliver an inheritance to an heir who is not otherwise eligible for it. It is implemented in some Islamic countries, including Indonesia, based on the KHI. Design/methodology/approach This is a descriptive qualitative study that uses documentation as a data-collection method. This study applies the content-analysis method to the data collected. Findings The results of study indicate that, under KHI, a wajibah will only be given to adopted children. Nevertheless, in the practice of religious justice, the wajibah will is also granted to heirs of faiths other than Islam and to illegitimate children. The rationale for the wajibah will involves historical factors and public considerations. Originality/value This paper provides information on the practice of the wajibah will in Indonesia in view of the plurality of the Indonesian people. Thus, the wajibah will is an appropriate instrument to attain justness in the well-being of the community. This paper also attempts to give a critical review of the practice based on five necessities.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the characteristics, as well as the purpose and posts of the COVID-19 Facebook groups. Design/methodology/approach A systematic search for COVID-19 Facebook groups was conducted on June 1, 2020. Characteristics of the groups were examined using descriptive statistics. Mann-Whitney test was used to study the differences between groups. The study of the most popular groups’ posts was also carried out using the content analysis method. Findings The groups had a combined membership of 2,729,061 users. A total of 147,885 posts were received. There were about approximately 60% public groups. A high percentage of the groups (86.5%) had descriptions. The results showed a significant relationship between the groups’ description status and the number of members (p-value = 0.016). The majority of COVID-19 Facebook groups (56%) were created to meet their members’ information needs. The highest number of studied posts were related to vaccination (35.2%), followed by curfew rules (19.6%) and symptoms (10.6%). Originality/value Translating these insights into policies and practices will put policymakers and health-care providers in a stronger position to make better use of Facebook groups to support and enhance public knowledge about COVID-19.

Purpose: In this article, Mr. Naseem Hijazi, a lesser-known hero of the Pakistan Movement, is highlighted. The primary purpose of this paper is to expose the hidden aspects of Mr. Naseem Hijazi's life. He was a well-known novelist and writer, as well as a freedom fighter. He was a member of the Pakistan Movement, but few people were aware of his involvement. He was a devoted Muslim and a firm believer in Islam. This research paper investigates and analyses the life of Naseem Hijazi to get a complete image of him. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research demonstrates that delving into individual biographies might provide a contextualized view of Naseem Hijazi's life, allowing for a complete picture of him. This study employed a qualitative content analysis method to examine Naseem Hijazi's biography during the Independence Movement. Findings: The finding shows that Naseem Hejazi had a passion for life that could enthrall any of his companions. During a radio interview, Syed Hashim Raza described his relationship with Naseem Hejazi, saying that the Muslim League was the only party working to establish Pakistan between 1940 and 1947. Naseem Hejazi was one of those who stood behind Quaid-e-Azam throughout those times and was respected by all. Naseem Hejazi, I believe, ran half of the pro-Muslim League propaganda effort in Baluchistan, while Mir Jaffer Khan Jamali ran the other half. Quetta's Pasban Fortnightly, June 15 (1939: 6). Implications/Originality/Value: In such a situation, history books about the Pakistan Movement should be rewritten to acknowledge Naseem Hejazi's work as one of the nation's benefactors.”

Purpose The purpose of the paper is to present a possible way of discourse analysis of the meaning giving processes in a therapeutic community (TC). Design/methodology/approach Presentation of a research project, which aim is to analyse the attitudes towards the large group within the TC, is based on analysing the conceptual metaphors in semi-structured interviews. Findings The findings delineate a possible discourse, namely, the TC’s hidden discourse of working through the mirror-transference at the community level. Practical implications The paper proposes a possible content analysis method for better understanding the deep processes of the TC by examining the large group. Social implications The paper emphasizes the matrix of a TC as a mentalizing scene. Originality/value The use of linguistic methods in understanding the hidden community level mentalizing processes.

PurposeAs one of the world's leading producers of energy resources, offering a large domestic market and workforce, Indonesia is susceptible to the issue of corporate social responsibility. As this research area is considered relatively new in the Indonesian context, the purpose of this paper is to provide useful information and describe early pictures of corporate social disclosure (CSD) practices in Indonesia.Design/methodology/approachThis study examines the extent of CSD in Indonesian listed companies. Content analysis method is applied to analyse the companies' annual reports. An exploratory study was also carried out to find the motivation of the companies in making CSD, as well as the perceived importance of CSD information by Indonesian stakeholders. Finally, some preliminary independent variables were selected to be examined in their relationships to the extent of CSD.FindingsThe results show that the most important information on CSD perceived by the stakeholders is about “products” while information about “community” is perceived as the least important. However, “community” is considered as the most influence party of CSD for the companies. Additionally, there are three main motives for the Indonesian listed companies in conducting CSD: “to create positive image”, to “act accountability” and to “comply with stakeholders' needs”. This study also indicates that the extent of CSD in Indonesian listed companies is very low. Further, the correlation examinations demonstrate that the majority of null hypotheses were accepted.Originality/valueThere is currently a level of research or invent CSD practices in developing countries. This paper helps to fill some of this gap.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore targets’ coping strategies in dealing with workplace bullying and to determine the possible contributing effects of these strategies to the escalation or de-escalation of bullying process. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a qualitative design, 20 self-reported targets were interviewed in-depth and data were analysed using the content analysis method. Findings – Five main themes were identified in the targets’ coping with workplace bullying: first, underestimation of the problem – avoidance; second, losing patience – confrontation; third, perceiving threats to personal health – seeking support; fourth, despair – destructive coping; and fifth, giving up – exit. The use of coping strategies both influenced the course of workplace bullying and were affected by the escalating nature of the bullying process itself. The most effective strategies included problem-solving strategies like coping collectively with colleagues, seeking support of managerial staff and filing complaints to management. Originality/value – The present study contributed to the workplace bullying research by describing workplace bullying as a process in which targets’ coping strategies and their consequences were evaluated and by providing data in a new national context (Turkey).

PurposeThe main objective of this study is identification of the key factors in planning digital content marketing (DCM) strategy in line with the corporate's main marketing objectives in the B2B sector.Design/methodology/approachIn order to identify the different content types and their corresponding marketing goals, content analysis method was served to analyze the content of Instagram pages of 24 top-ranked corporates from three different industries. SPSS version 22 was used to investigate the significant difference levels and the mean ranks of identified content types.FindingsThe findings uncovered the twelve content types which are commonly published by the corporates in line with their main marketing goals in the B2B sector. Furthermore, the results revealed the most valuable content types from the B2B audiences' viewpoint and the most efficient content types in persuading audiences to participate in conversations.Research limitations/implicationsThis study sheds some light on the ambiguous facets of DCM in the B2B sector, and its findings is useful as the starting point for the scholars who intend to investigate the various aspects of DCM and for the practitioners who work in the related fields.Originality/valueThis research offers a novel contribution to using Instagram as a DCM platform in the B2B sector. Also it contributes to identifying the main factors in communicating to B2B audiences through DCM.

Purpose: Negotiations between two parties always have newsworthiness. Results of the negotiations can be strongly influenced by the media coverage. Pakistan’s government was also involved in peace negotiation with Tahrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during January and February 2014. It was the most discussing issue in Pakistani media at that time. The aim of this research is to analyze the editorial policy of three Pakistani English language newspapers; Dawn, Nation and The News to check their favorable or unfavorable behavior regarding peace talks during January and February 2014. Design/Methodology/Approach: Agenda setting, priming and farming theories were used in this study. Qualitative content analysis method was used in this study to analyze the editorial policy of these three newspapers. Findings: The results revealed that all these three newspapers gave significant coverage to the peace talks issue but Nation gave more coverage to the issue. Findings also revealed that Dawn and The News, most of the time showed neutral behavior but tilted towards unfavorable position regarding peace talks. Nation showed strongly unfavorable behavior regarding peace talks. Implications/Originality/Value: So it is concluded that all these three newspapers were mostly against the peace talks and government and media were not on the same page on the issue of peace talks.
