Objective: To recommend metrics to qualify software production and to propose guidelines for the CAPES quadrennial evaluation of the Post-Graduation Programs of Medicine III about this issue. Method: Identification of the development process quality features, of the product attributes and of the software use, determined by Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), International Organization Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical (IEC), important in the perspective of the CAPES Medicine III Area correlate users, basing the creation proposal of metrics aiming to be used on four-year evaluation of Medicine III. Results: The in use software quality perception by the user results from the provided effectiveness, productivity, security and satisfaction that originate from its characteristics of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability (in use metrics quality). This perception depends on the specific use scenario. Conclusion: The software metrics should be included in the intellectual production of the program, considering the system behavior measurements results obtained by users' performance evaluation through out the favorable responses punctuation sum for the six in use metrics quality (27 sub-items, 0 to 2 points each) and for quality perception proof (four items, 0 to 10 points each). It will be considered as very good (VG) 85 to 94 points; good (G) 75 to 84 points; regular (R) 65 to 74 points; weak (W) 55 to 64 points; poor (P) <55 points.

Software measurement helps to quantify the quality and the effectiveness of software to find areas of improvement and to provide information needed to make appropriate decisions. In the recent studies, software metrics are widely used for quality assessment. These metrics are divided into two categories: syntactic and semantic. A literature review shows that syntactic ones are widely discussed and are generally used to measure software internal attributes like complexity. It also shows a lack of studies that focus on measuring external attributes like using internal ones. This chapter presents a thorough analysis of most quality measurement concepts. Moreover, it makes a comparative study of object-oriented syntactic metrics to identify their effectiveness for quality assessment and in which phase of the development process these metrics may be used. As reliability is an external attribute, it cannot be measured directly. In this chapter, the authors discuss how reliability can be measured using its correlation with syntactic metrics.

Software has become the core of organizations in different domains because the capacity of their products, systems, and services have an increasing dependence on software. This fact highlights the research challenges to be covered by computer science, especially in the software engineering (SE) area. On the one way, SE is in charge of covering all the aspects related to the software development process from the early stages of software development until its maintenance and therefore is closely related to the software quality. On the other hand, SE is in charge of providing engineers able to provide technological-base solutions to solve industrial problems. This chapter provides a research work path focused on helping software development organizations to change to a continuous software improvement culture impacting both their software development process highlighting the human factor training needs. Results show that the implementation of best practices could be easily implemented if adequate support is provided.

With the increase of the scale and complexity of software system software crowdsourcing development have gradually favored by the industry and scholars, to solve the large-scale, large system to develop effective solutions. In this background, this article first introduces the crowdsourcing the basic framework of the development process of software, the basic framework of crowdsourcing and then based on the software development process of put forward a comprehensive software Quality (Quality), the software task Cost (Cost) and software (Value) of a reward QCV model. Finally, this paper, by using data from the topcoder, the QCV process model is verified, it is concluded that the software quality, software cost and interaction relationship between reward.

Quality test is a crucial phase in the system development process to ensure that system work as its requirement. Therefore, the Portal Kukerta (Kuliah Kerja Nyata) Universitas Riau, an information system to manage data and activities of Kukerta, needs to assess. In this research, Portal Kukerta has been assessed using the McCalls software quality framework. The aspect that is focused on this research is product operation. Product operation consists of correctness, usability, integrity, reliability, and efficiency. The data collected by distributing questionnaires to 67 participants. The results show that users give a positive response to two aspects, namely  efficiency 99.90% and usability 64%. However, for the reliability factor 43%, correctness 48%, integrity 56% get a neutral value that there are aspects that are considered less by the user. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Kukerta portal is very efficient in managing the data of Kukerta University of Riau and can be easily used by users. However, in terms of reliability, correction, and integrity need to be improved. The implication of the research are (1) providing a reference in assessing quality of a software and (2) specifically providing a recommendation for Portal Kukerta Universitas Riau for their system improvements.

Abstract There is general agreement among the experts and practitioners that a crisis exists in Software Engineering. This crisis is in the area of software quality and schedules. How do we better predict product development progress on an ongoing basis? The quick answer is that all project managers need to know these things: • What are the requirements for functionality, cost, and schedule? • Do I have sufficient resources to meet those requirements? • Am I on target to meet those requirements? These questions are particularly critical for companies who produce complex software, such as real-time or process control products. There are ways to ensure that the requirements of schedule, functionality, and cost are met during project development. This paper will discuss project management activities, possible development process, and predictive measurements for project tracking and prediction for complex software products.

Agile practices are activities or procedures that are applied during the software development process in order to improve its quality and productivity. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of agile practices on software quality. For this purpose, a model composed of 4 groups of agile practices and 8 quality characteristics according to the ISO/IEC 25010 standard has here been proposed. The results of 146 questionnaires addressed to people involved in the software development process show that the application of agile engineering and project management practices have a significant positive influence on the quality attribute functionality. On the other hand, project management practices have a low impact on the quality characteristics of compatibility, portability, security, and usability.
