Agile practices are activities or procedures that are applied during the software development process in order to improve its quality and productivity. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of agile practices on software quality. For this purpose, a model composed of 4 groups of agile practices and 8 quality characteristics according to the ISO/IEC 25010 standard has here been proposed. The results of 146 questionnaires addressed to people involved in the software development process show that the application of agile engineering and project management practices have a significant positive influence on the quality attribute functionality. On the other hand, project management practices have a low impact on the quality characteristics of compatibility, portability, security, and usability.

The use of cutting-edge digital technologies and the realization of right project, program, and portfolio (3P) initiatives can trigger the intended company-wide change and the digital transformation. Today, organizations need to increase their agility for managing their information technology (IT) projects and transforming their business models. The integration of agile perspective and business analysis (BA) approach has a great potential to increase the success of digital transformation. This study aims to provide an overview of state-of-the-art in agile business analysis in scope of digital transformation. In accordance with the well-known frameworks, general principles and promising techniques of Agile BA are highlighted and discussed. The regarding agile practices provide valuable guidelines for researchers and practitioners that how they can assist continuous feedback, continuous learning, continuous improvement, and continuous integration capabilities of organizations; and also how to maximize value to the stakeholders in agile project lifecycles and agile business transformations.

Software engineering has been an active working area for many decades. It evolved in a bi-folded manner. First research and subsequently development. Since the day of its inception, the massive number of variants and methods of software engineering were proposed. Primarily, these methods are designed to cater the time-varying need of modern approach. In this connection, the Global Software Engineering (GSE) is one of the growing trends in the modern software industry. At the same time, the employment of Agile development methodologies has also gained the significant attention in the literature. This has created a rationale to explore and adopt agile development methodology in GSE. It gained rigorous attention as an alternative to traditional software development methodologies. This paper has presented a comprehensive review on the adaptation of modern agile practices in GSE. In addition, the strength and limitation of each approach have been highlighted. Finally, the open area in the said domain is submitted as one of the deliverables of this work.

Agile Software Development (ASD) can be considered the mainstream development method of choice worldwide. ASD are used due to features such as easy management and embrace of changes, where change in requirements should be taken as a positive feature. However, some domain verticals, such as medical-healthcare, are classified as critical-safety system, which usually requires traditional methods. This chapter presents a practical use case describing the evolution of a software product that was conceived as a wellness software for end-users in mobile platforms to a medical-healthcare product restricted to regulatory standard recommendations. It presents the challenges and how the ASD is compatible to standards such as ISO/IEC 82304-1.

This study investigates the influence of lean and agile practices on supply chain operational performance in Malaysia manufacturing industry. The lack of IT flexibility, little information sharing, poor delivery performance, and low product quality affect responsiveness, reliability, agility, and cost of supply chain operational performance Malaysia manufacturing industry. This study has utilized the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory to strengthen the framework of this study. The research objectives in this study are to investigate the effect of lean practices and analyzed the effect of agile practices on supply chain operational performance in Malaysia manufacturing industry. To achieve the research objectives, a quantitative research approach is necessitated. The population of this study is 3626 manufacturing companies in Malaysia. The minimum sample size is 107, suggested by a G-power statistical analysis software. Besides, the cluster random sampling technique is used in sample selection. Furthermore, a total of 550 online questionnaires was distributed by email to the manufacturing industry in Malaysia and received a return of 112 responses from respondents representing a 20.36% response rate. Besides, Smart-PLS 3.0 was chosen as the software used for data analysis. Based on research findings, all of the eight hypotheses were supported. The theoretical and practical implication was presented before, the limitations and recommendations were discussed. In conclusion, lean and agile practices play a significant role in improving supply chain operational performance in the Malaysia manufacturing industry.

Abstract Objective The Huntsman Cancer Institute Research Informatics Shared Resource (RISR), a software and database development core facility, sought to address a lack of published operational best practices for research informatics cores. It aimed to use those insights to enhance effectiveness after an increase in team size from 20 to 31 full-time equivalents coincided with a reduction in user satisfaction. Materials and Methods RISR migrated from a water-scrum-fall model of software development to agile software development practices, which emphasize iteration and collaboration. RISR’s agile implementation emphasizes the product owner role, which is responsible for user engagement and may be particularly valuable in software development that requires close engagement with users like in science. Results All RISR’s software development teams implemented agile practices in early 2020. All project teams are led by a product owner who serves as the voice of the user on the development team. Annual user survey scores for service quality and turnaround time recorded 9 months after implementation increased by 17% and 11%, respectively. Discussion RISR is illustrative of the increasing size of research informatics cores and the need to identify best practices for maintaining high effectiveness. Agile practices may address concerns about the fit of software engineering practices in science. The study had one time point after implementing agile practices and one site, limiting its generalizability. Conclusions Agile software development may substantially increase a research informatics core facility’s effectiveness and should be studied further as a potential best practice for how such cores are operated.

The aim of this document is to present a new teaching model in higher education focus on the student. The model develops an iterative and incremental learning system based on the fundamentals of agility and the organization of agile work, improving learning performance and the benefit of students. This model develops a system based on the Scrum methodology that allows continuous deliveries of value from the student to the teacher, adapted to the learning goals of the educational programs, approaching a cultural, organizational and structural change through the application of methods, Agile practices and dynamics within a framework that encourages innovation and continuous improvement of students.
