This paper presents the value proposition of blockchain for Port Community Systems (PCS) by dissecting the business processes in port logistics and unfolding functionalities of blockchain in lowering the transaction cost. This paper contributes to the research by a detailed technical assessment of the plethora of currently available blockchain platforms and consensus mechanisms, against the identified requirements in this specific use case. The results of this technical assessment highlight the central value proposition of blockchain for landlord ports, which is independency from a central authority as the controlling agent. Bridging between two research domains of Information Technology and Logistics, this paper proposes the preferred architectural design requirements of a blockchain-based PCS, including provisioning private sidechains, modular design with inter-chain interoperability, and encrypted off-chain data storage. Availability—the readiness for correct service, and reliability—the continuity of correct service, are heavily reliant on the right choice being made for blockchain design for such a complex use case. A preliminary comparative analysis among different decentralisation levels in this paper suggests that a permissioned public blockchain offers the best trade-off in performance measures for this use case. This technical review identifies six research agenda from a design perspective.

The article is devoted to the results of an actual study, the purpose of which was to develop and implement design solutions for adaptively supporting configurations of the “1C: Enterprise 8.3” platform for subsequent practical application in the development of typical configurations for solving applied problems of small and medium-sized enterprises. The relevance of the study is determined by several positions. Firstly, the introduction of information technologies in the most important sectors of the economy helps to increase labor productivity, improve the overall investment climate in Russia, and helps to reduce the dependence of the country’s economy on commodity exports. Secondly, the low degree of realization of the potential of boxed solutions is due to the fact that many enterprises relate to the implementation and subsequent maintenance of such solutions as technical projects, not taking into account their business component. Thirdly, in some cases, when purchasing a replicated solution, it needs to be adapted to business requirements and the new IT infrastructure. Adaptation is carried out at the implementation stage or at the stage of supporting the implemented solution. However, the success of such work depends not only on the implementation and support specialists, but also on the availability of descriptions of specific rules, actions, and work that must be performed. At the same time, a lack of logically structured recommendations on their adaptation after acquisition and implementation is noticeable. The study took place in two stages. At the theoretical and methodological stage, a study of the subject area was carried out. The use of structural and object-oriented analysis and design tools made it possible to analyze the business processes of transferring data from the existing BOSS-Kadrovik automated system (AS) to 1C: ZUP, as well as the process of writing off material balances from account 10 to “1C: Accounting 3.0”, identify problem areas (analysis of IDEF0 functional models) and formulate the image and boundaries of the project (requirements model in the form of a use case diagram – Use Case). Selected adaptive support options were determined in accordance with the support rules recommended by 1C when implementing standard implementation technology. For the “1C: Salary and Enterprise Management 3.1” configuration, it was decided to develop a configuration extension, for adapting the “1C: Accounting 3.0” configuration, the creation of external processing. The design phase of work on the topic of this study involved the development of design solutions for the adaptation of the indicated configurations. At the same time, data models were developed at the logical and physical levels, the requirements for information support in the form of database directories were formulated. In addition, the dynamic component of the solutions being developed was examined, namely, the transitions of some objects from one state to another when fulfilling the selected precedents and the results of the state change. For these purposes, a special type of UML diagram technique was used – activity diagrams. Implementation of design solutions for adaptive configuration support was carried out on the 1C: Enterprise 8.3 platform. Testing the implemented solutions yielded positive results. In addition, the cost of adaptive support was calculated. In the calculation, the time norms for the configuration stage proposed by 1C were taken into account.

New business processes are increasingly data driven as sensors have become ubiquitous. Sensor data could be a valuable new data source for official statistics. To study this presumption Statistics Netherlands conducted a small-scale use case in the area of agricultural statistics in collaboration with an innovative farmer. A selection of his sensor data was explored for overlap with current data demands in surveys. The aim of the study was to obtain insights in the available agricultural data, their data structure and quality, and explore new methods of data collection for agricultural statistics. The conclusion is that these data are valuable for replacing or pre-filling (parts of) certain agricultural surveys. However, many more challenges surfaced than we expected, to which the title of this paper refers. These challenges will be discussed in this paper.

AbstractThe approach presented in this paper provides effective protection of critical business processes by applying advanced SIEM technology in a rigorous fashion, based on the results of accurate risk assessment. The proposed SIEM tool advances the State of The Art of the technology along two axes, specifically: privacy and integrity. The advancements are achieved via combined use of two of the most promising technologies for trusted computing, namely: Trusted Execution Environment (TTE) and Homomorphic Encryption (HE). The approach is validated with respect to a real use case of a Smart Hospital (i.e., one where IT is massively used), with challenging security requirements. The use case is contributed by one of the major public hospitals in Italy. Experiments demonstrate that, by relying on continuous monitoring of security relevant events and advanced correlation techniques, the SIEM solution proposed in this work effectively protects the critical workflows of the hospital business processes from cyber-attacks with high impact (specifically: serious harm to or even death of the patient).

Advances in cloud-enabled service-oriented architectures (SOA) have caused a resurgence of industry interest in business process catalog as a vehicle for establishing shared references for collaborative business processes. With this paper, we start to explore the state of art and practice in business process catalog and classification scheme (BPCCS) development and use for the manufacturing industry. More specifically, this paper includes two major contributions. First, we identify a set of initial requirements for BPCCS. Second, we provide a use-case analysis based on the identified requirements. We end by comparing our BPCCS requirements with those being developed across other, BPCCS R&D groups.

SMA Negeri 9 Padang is one of the institutions engaged in the field of education, which requires the design of software to manage and run all school activities, one of which is the Academic Information System (SIA). SIA currently in SMA 9 Padang yet well integrated, so it still has many shortcomings in meeting the needs of the school or institution, in particular to deal with academic problems. Therefore, it needs to be implemented Academic Information System that can overcome the various shortcomings earlier. Implementation of this application starts with a preliminary study. Activities, the introduction of the school as a whole with interviews and observations, identify business processes academically at school is running and then make the proposed system as terkomputerisasinya, which is described by using the tools of Business Process Model Notation (BPMN), as well as the depiction of a working model of the system to be applied using use case diagram. The next stage is to study the literature of various books and journals to find the theoretical basis and related research. Then selecting software for SIA School, after the configuration and customization of the software modules, and the latter carry out the implementation and testing. These results indicate that the software SIA Schools that have been selected and applied that JIBAS applications, which can solve the problems on SMA Negeri 9 Padang
