Gravity-pour casting processes are simulated for both low and high Weber number flows. The validation problems examined are a symmetric side-fill problem and a more complex asymmetric top-fill problem with flow over and obstacle. A recently developed continuum surface force model was implemented within a transient three-dimensional software simulation tool and applied to the low Weber number problem. The resulting simulations are compared with experiments that were conducted in order to validate current and future gravity-pour casting simulations. The simulations are found to capture much of the qualitative behavior of the complex three-dimensional flows.

We have developed a three-dimensional dynamic simulation tool for tapered roller bearings using commercially available analysis software, ADAMS (MSC. Software). Cage motion in six degrees was analyzed with the simulation tool and was measured by experiments. The results showed the validity of the simulation tool. Regarding the cage behavior, as the traction forces between rollers and races grew, the amplitude of the cage whirl motion increased up to the radial guide clearance between the roller and its cage pocket.

A kind of new type three-phase magnetism valve type controllable reactor is proposed in this article, its structure and the principle are introduced. The article carried the electromagnetism analysis on the new type magnetism valve type controllable reactor, and established the three-phase magnetism valve type controllable reactor two-dimensional simulation model with Ansoft electric-magnetic field analysis software. Simulation results verified the feasibility of adjusting the reactor reactance smoothly by adjusting the thyristor's triggering angle. Lastly, it made an analysis about three-phase magnetism valve type controllable reactor's electromagnetism field distribution.

In zones separated by doors with many entrances and exits, it is crucial in terms of energy consumption to protect the conditioned air in the indoor environment from the effects of outside air. The increase in door dimensions and opening frequency make this effect even more evident. Various methods are used to prevent leakage of outside air into the indoor environment. In this study, we investigated the effects of using air curtains on energy consumption during the cooling season in a factory building. The door width and height in this building, which has a high story height, were also large. These 26 doors must remain open all the time because of the production process. With a transient model developed on Transient System Simulation Tool (TRNSYS) coupled with Contaminant Transport Analysis Software (CONTAM), we showed the effects of using the air curtains in different climate conditions. As a result, we demonstrated that using air curtains will provide great savings, especially in cities with high cooling requirements.
