A simple dynamics model is established based on the two-link flexible manipulator moving within the vertical plane, and a robust simple control scheme is put forward. The advantages of this scheme are simple and good robustness. Only the error signal is needed when designing the control scheme and the acquirement of control signal does not depend on the system model. The simulation results show that this method has a good robustness and stability.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to address a fractional order fuzzy PID (FOFPID) control approach for solving the problem of enhancing high precision tracking performance and robustness against to different reference trajectories of a 6-DOF Stewart Platform (SP) in joint space. Design/methodology/approach For the optimal design of the proposed control approach, tuning of the controller parameters including membership functions and input-output scaling factors along with the fractional order rate of error and fractional order integral of control signal is tuned with off-line by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. For achieving this off-line optimization in the simulation environment, very accurate dynamic model of SP which has more complicated dynamical characteristics is required. Therefore, the coupling dynamic model of multi-rigid-body system is developed by Lagrange-Euler approach. For completeness, the mathematical model of the actuators is established and integrated with the dynamic model of SP mechanical system to state electromechanical coupling dynamic model. To study the validness of the proposed FOFPID controller, using this accurate dynamic model of the SP, other published control approaches such as the PID control, FOPID control and fuzzy PID control are also optimized with PSO in simulation environment. To compare trajectory tracking performance and effectiveness of the tuned controllers, the real time validation trajectory tracking experiments are conducted using the experimental setup of the SP by applying the optimum parameters of the controllers. The credibility of the results obtained with the controllers tuned in simulation environment is examined using statistical analysis. Findings The experimental results clearly demonstrate that the proposed optimal FOFPID controller can improve the control performance and reduce reference trajectory tracking errors of the SP. Also, the proposed PSO optimized FOFPID control strategy outperforms other control schemes in terms of the different difficulty levels of the given trajectories. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, such a motion controller incorporating the fractional order approach to the fuzzy is first time applied in trajectory tracking control of SP.

This paper investigates concentrates on the trajectory tracking control problem of dynamic positioning (DP) ship, in the presence of the time-varying disturbance and input saturation. Firstly, a simplified mathematical model of three degrees of freedom is established. According to the characteristics of the DP ship, an adaptive backstepping controller which combine the prescribed performance function with disturbance observer is proposed. The control scheme can guarantee the transient and steady state performance of the trajectory tracking and meet the prescribed performance criteria. In addition, an auxiliary dynamic system is introduced into the controller to deal with the input saturation problem of the actuator, so that the DP ship can accomplish the task of trajectory tracking under the condition of actuator constraint. Subsequently, in combination of barrier Lyapunov function (BLF), it is proved that the DP system can stabilize and converge rapidly to the small neighborhood of the equilibrium point, which can achieve the prescribed performance. Finally, the effectiveness of the DP control law is demonstrated by a series of simulation experiments.

Hydraulic thrust system is a critical part of shield tunneling machine. Automatic trajectory tracking control is a significant task of thrust system during tunnel excavation. In this article, plane mechanical structure diagram of the thrust system and path planning method are illustrated at first. An integrated control system is proposed to achieve the automatic control of the thrust trajectory. The control system consists of one trajectory planning controller for both cylinders and an individual cylinder controller for each of hydraulic cylinders. Trajectory planning controller is used to generate respective displacement signals of double-cylinder in every thrust stroke and each of cylinder controllers is used to realize the precise control of the given thrust trajectory. Variable-gain PID control strategy applied to achieve the precise tracking control of thrust trajectory under several typical working conditions are done at last. The experimental results demonstrate that variable-gain PID control have good performances with short response time and small overshoot regardless of changes of working conditions.

The process of tobacco-redrying has the characteristics of lagging, uncertainty and being nonlinear, so it is unable to satisfy every performance target only by using the traditional PID controlling method. In response to this reality, this paper, by using the fuzzy inference ability of fuzzy control, proposes a fuzzy PID based control scheme to achieve the online adjustment of the PID parameters in tobacco-redrying process and to make them in the required range. Simulation results show that the controller can effectively control the process of tobacco-redrying.

Wheeled mobile robot (WMR) is usually applicable for executing an operational task around complicated environment; skidding and slipping phenomena unavoidably appear during the motion, which thus can compromise the accomplishment of the task. This paper investigates the trajectory tracking control problem of WMRs via disturbance rejection in the presence of wheel skidding and slipping phenomena. The kinematic and dynamic models with the perturbed nonholonomic constraints are established. The trajectory tracking control scheme at the dynamic level is designed so that the mobile robot system can track the virtual velocity asymptotically, and counteract the perturbation caused by the unknown skidding and slipping of wheels. Both simulation and experimental works are conducted, and the results prove the performance of the proposed control scheme is effective in terms of tracking precision and disturbance attenuation.

The issue of fixed-time trajectory tracking control for the autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) system with model uncertainties and external disturbances is investigated in this paper. Particularly, convergence time does not depend on initial conditions. The major contributions include the following: (1) An integral sliding mode controller (ISMC) via integral sliding mode surface is first proposed, which can ensure that the system states can follow the desired trajectory within a fixed time. (2) Unknown external disturbances are absolutely estimated by means of designing a fixed-time disturbance observer (FTDO). By combining the FTDO and ISMC techniques, a new control scheme (FTDO-ISMC) is developed, which can achieve both disturbance compensation and chattering-free condition. (3) Aiming at reconstructing the unknown nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances, a fixed-time unknown observer (FTUO) is proposed, thus providing the FTUO-ISMC scheme that finally achieves trajectory tracking of ASVs with unknown parameters. Finally, simulation tests and detailed comparisons indicate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Based on the previous research on the production line automation, this paper carries out further research and further design and development on the basis of the original production line automation equipment. In this paper, the overall design of the automatic production line is carried out, and the various systems in the automatic production line are optimized, and the backward instruments are eliminated, and then some more advanced and convenient instruments are applied. Then, the hardware and software of the automatic production line are studied respectively, and the human-computer interaction module and real-time main control circuit module are re developed, and the electric shaft is applied to the automatic production line. Finally, the fuzzy PID controller of the stepping motor is designed. The experiment shows that the fuzzy PID control scheme is better than the traditional PID control scheme. After the rationalization of the system, the quality robustness of proactive planning is improved obviously. Then, the temperature of motorized spindle was tested.
