Background: Nanofiber’s productivity plagues nanofibrous membranes’ applications in many areas. Herein, we present the needle-disk electrospinning to improve throughput. In this method, multiple high-curvature mentals are used as the spinning electrode. Methods: Three aspects were investigated: 1) mechanism elucidation of the needle-disk electrospinning; 2) parameter optimization of the needle-disk electrospinning; 3) productivity improvement of the needle-disk electrospinning. Results: Results show that high-curvature electrode evokes high electric field intensity, making lower voltage supply in spinning process. The needle number, needle length and needle curvature synergistically affect the spinning process and nanofiber morphology. Additionally, higher disk rotation velocity and higher voltage supply can also result in higher nanofiber’s productivity. Conclusion: Compared with previous patents related to this topic, the needle-disk electrospinning is featured with the merits of high throughput, low voltage supply, controllable spinning process and nanofiber morphology, benefiting the nanofiber practical industrial employment and further applications of nanofiber-based materials.

Background : Taxi sharing is an emerging transportation arrangement that helps improve the passengers’ travel efficiency and reduce costs. This study proposes an urban taxi sharing system. Methods: Considering each side congestion of the transport network, their corresponding reliability and failure probability are analyzed. Under the constraints of the number of passengers and their own time windows, the analysis is performed on passengers whose optimal path is inclusive. Results: According to the optimal strategy, the different passengers can be arranged into the same taxi to realize the taxi sharing. Then the shared taxi route can be optimized. Conclusion: Due to the reasonable vehicle route planning and passenger combination, these can effectively alleviate the traffic congestion, save the driving time, reduce the taxi no-load rate, and save the driving distance. At last, a numerical example is used to demonstrate the proposed method.

Abstract. Simulations of land-surface processes and phenomena often require driving time series of meteorological variables. Corresponding observations, however, are unavailable in most locations, even more so, when considering the duration, continuity and data quality required. Atmospheric reanalyses provide global coverage of relevant meteorological variables, but their use is largely restricted to grid-based studies. This is because technical challenges limit the ease with which reanalysis data can be applied to models at the site scale. We present the software toolkit GlobSim, which automates the downloading, interpolation and scaling of different reanalyses – currently ERA5, ERA-Interim, JRA-55 and MERRA-2 – to produce meteorological time series for user-defined point locations. The resulting data have consistent structure and units to efficiently support ensemble simulation. The utility of GlobSim is demonstrated using an application in permafrost research. We perform ensemble simulations of ground-surface temperature for 10 terrain types in a remote tundra area in northern Canada and compare the results with observations. Simulation results reproduced seasonal cycles and variation between terrain types well, demonstrating that GlobSim can support efficient land-surface simulations. Ensemble means often yielded better accuracy than individual simulations and ensemble ranges additionally provide indications of uncertainty arising from uncertain input. By improving the usability of reanalyses for research requiring time series of climate variables for point locations, GlobSim can enable a wide range of simulation studies and model evaluations that previously were impeded by technical hurdles in obtaining suitable data.
