Inner and outer expansions are used to formulate a systematic solution to the problem of the steady translation of a slender ship of arbitrary shape. Careful consideration is givien to finding the correct boundary conditions to be satisfied by successive terms in the expansions, and certain of the individual terms are determined partly or completely as functions of hull shape. Some results are given concerning the second approximations to the potential and wave resistance.

Dieser Beitrag stellt einen Algorithmus für das Job-shop-Scheduling-Problem vor, welcher den Lösungsraum indexiert und eine systematische Navigation zur Lösungssuche durchführt. Durch diese problemadäquate Aufbereitung wird der Lösungsraum nach bestimmten Kriterien vorzustrukturiert. Diese Problemrepräsentation wird formal beschrieben, sodass ihre Anwendung als Grundlage für ein navigationsorientiertes Suchverfahren dienen kann. Ein vergleichender Test mit anderen Optimierungsansätzen zeigt die Effizienz dieser Lösungsraumnavigation.   This paper presents an algorithm for the job-shop scheduling problem indexing the solution space and performing systematic navigation to find good solutions. By this problem-adequate preparation of the solution space, the solution space is pre-structured according to certain criteria. This problem representation is formally described so that its application can serve as a basis for a navigation-oriented search procedure. A comparative test with other optimization approaches shows the efficiency of this solution space navigation.

Recent WHO guidelines for antiretroviral therapy recommend switching to less toxic, but more expensive medicines for first-line and second-line ART, raising questions about the financial sustainability of many AIDS treatment programmes. At the same time, many key generic producing countries such as India now grant pharmaceutical product patents so competition between multiple manufacturers will not be able to play the role it has in bringing down the price of newer drugs. Overcoming these patent barriers will require a range of solutions, such as restricting patentability criteria, or compulsory licensing. One additional systematic solution is provided by the patent pool, a collective solution to the management of patent rights, initially presented by Médecins Sans Frontières to the French Foreign Ministry and subsequently the UNITAID Executive Board in 2006. A patent pool must not be implemented at any costs, but answer medical needs, be based on economic realities and meet the access needs of the developing world, including middle-income countries.

This aims to fused image registration and image fusion used to spatial resolution images by principle component analysis method. Digital image processing requires either the full image or a part of image. It will be processed from the user’s point of view like the radius of object. Wavelet technique will improve the spatial resolution to produce spectral degradation in output image. To overcome the spectral degradation, PCA fusion method can be used. PCA uses curve which represent edges and extraction of the detailed information from the image.PAN and MS images are used by individual acquired low frequency approximate component and high frequency detail components in this PCA. To evaluate the image fusion accuracy, Peak Signal to Noise Ratio and Root Mean Square Error are used. The advantages of using digital image processing are preservation of original data accuracy, flexibility and repeatability.

The spread of COVID-19 has created numerous challenges in the field of archive management. Limited in-house office space, furloughs of personnel, and inconsistency, has highlighted the potential for the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center Archives (Center) to develop and implement improved accessibility measures to thousands of linear feet of material. Addition ally, the Center has found unique opportunities to collaborate with multiple academic institutions to propose large-scale digitization program exhibitions using the Center’s remote workflow model. One of the largest, most complex collections the Center has worked with during this time is the Political Commercial Collection (the Collection), which holds 119,000 film, audio, and videotape recordings of commercials aired between 1936 and present. It is the largest collection of political commercials in the world. The Center has developed a working pilot digitization project that has currently resulted in access to 16,000 digital videos for public researchers and over 10,000 available for on-line streaming during the pilot phase between April 16, 2020, and December 1, 2020. This paper presents the practical application of the Center’s simplified “Linear Reciprocity Workflow Model” to provide a systematic solution for digital and long-term preservation of complex collections. The Center has proven that limited personnel and reduced resources need not interrupt continued access to archival repositories.

SUMMARYTensegrity mechanisms are composed of rigid and tensile parts that are in equilibrium. They are interesting alternative designs for some applications, such as modeling musculo-skeleton systems. Tensegrity mechanisms are more difficult to analyze than classical mechanisms as the static equilibrium conditions that must be satisfied generally result in complex equations. A class of planar one-degree-of-freedom tensegrity mechanisms with three linear springs is analyzed in detail for the sake of systematic solution classifications. The kinetostatic equations are derived and solved under several loading and geometric conditions. It is shown that these mechanisms exhibit up to six equilibrium configurations, of which one or two are stable, depending on the geometric and loading conditions. Discriminant varieties and cylindrical algebraic decomposition combined with Groebner base elimination are used to classify solutions as a function of the geometric, loading, and actuator input parameters.
