The fatty acid composition of date seed oil from two different date palm ( Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivars, locally known as Degla-Baïdha and Tafezouine, were investigated. GC analysis revealed the presence of five dominant fatty acids: oleic C18:1 (46.51; 39.15%), lauric C12:0 (22.1; 28.5%), myristic C14:0 (10.7; 11.4%), palmitic C16:0 (9.6; 8.7%) and linoleic C18:2 (6.9; 6.1%). The oils was characterised by a low content of tocopherols (0.53; 1.41 μg/g). The antioxidant activity of the oils was investigated using the DPPH•(1,1-di-phenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl) scavenging assay. The oils had a weak bleaching effect on DPPH• free radicals. This study showed that the qualities of the tested oils are highly comparable with those of some commercial seed oils of other plants. Furthermore, a statistical analysis using the hierarchy ascendant classification method was conducted in order to highlight the similarities and/or the differences regarding the contents of the main fatty acids found in some common plants and in the five most famous cultivars of Phoenix dactylifera of south eastern Algeria (Tafezouine, Degla-Baïdha, Deglet-Nour, Ghars, Tamdjouhert).

The aim of this study was to examine the chemical composition and correlation between two types of date palm seeds (Phoenix dactylifera L.) grown in the north (Al-Bakrari) and south (Tafsert) of Libya. The chemical composition of two local date seeds was measured biochemical parameters on commonly used. Results showed that protein and lipid contents (Based on dry matter) ranged between 3.25 and 3.50 g/100 g ` and between 4.81 and 6.64 g/100 g, respectively. Carbohydrates content was about 80.74 and 82.48 g/100g for both samples. The ash content was ranged (1.85 - 2.30 g/100 g dry matter, while the moisture content did not exceed 7.6 % in any trial samples. The statistical analysis showed that lipid content had a significant positive correlation with moisture, (R2 = 0.751; p = 0.05). Further analysis indicated that both moisture and lipid had a highly significant negative correlation with ash (R2 = - 0.902 and - 0.901; p = 0.05) respectively, while ash having a highly significant positive correlation with carbohydrate (R2 = 0.967; p = 0.05). Based on the outcome of the study, it appears that the chemical composition of date seeds, it is recommended to use these residues in animals feed to obtain the highest productivity economically and utilization of the wasted resources on the other hand.

The present study was designed to estimate the physicochemical & fatty acid profile of date palm Phoenix dactylifera L. grown at kech District,Baluchistan.the obtained oil yield was 9.77% by the soxhlet extraction.the  fat content in date seed was 9.15%,protein 5.33%,crude fiber 6.89%,ash 1.13%,moisture 9.78% total carbohydrate content was 73.32% and refractive index was 1.449%.the chemical properties such as Acid value,Saponification value,Iodine value and peroxide value was 1.89%,187.83%,56.568% and 1.244 respectively.while the mineral analysis was done by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer and results indicate that potassium was the most abundant mineral (247.32%)followed by the magnesium (63.73%), phosphorus  (43.07%)and calcium was (38.89%).whereas the fatty acid composition of date seed oil shows that it was a oleic-lauric acid being the abundant fatty acid found in it followed by the linoleic, stearic and palmitic acid. The all results showed that date seed oil is an excellent nutritional source and it would also play a vital role in cosmetics and neutraceutical industries.
