Textile industry in the nineteenth century of the British empire was one of the milestone industries which center around cotton mills. The development of this industry attracted many people who wished to increase their life’ standard to migrate to area near the factories located in order to work there. As much as giving revenue for the country, these factories also gave impact to the environment as well as people living and working in it. There were three things behind the environmental impact during the Victorian era of textile industry, fire hazard, mills’ poor conditions and factory bill. Flammable materials, like raw cotton which mainly used in this industry, and high temperature room caused the factories engulfed in fire. The lacked protection from fire of the factories’ construction then led to a new building method being introduced and applied called the “Fireproof Construction”. Poor health condition of the workers who worked in high humidity and temperature of cotton mills brought a creation of factory bill (Factory Act) being passed.  However, the act that was supposed to act as a regulation for factories owners to offer their worker a much more suitable place to work was hardly fully implied during this time. The writer used literature review method in collecting data. This article therefore intended to deliver the reader about the environment situation in the cotton factories while also giving the idea on how hardly an ideal comfort was achieved.

<p>Fire is an important environmental and ecological process in northern high latitude environments. It is currently unclear how fire regimes will change in response to current environmental change in this region and the implications this may have for ecosystem processes and human societies. We reconstruct changes in biomass burning since the Last Glacial Maximum in the northern extratropics (>45°N), using data from the Global Charcoal Database complemented by new records from Canada, Beringia and Russia. A clustering machine-learning algorithm (K-means) is used to delimit regions that show similar burning histories. Comparison of the regional trajectories of change in biomass burning provides insights into the environmental drivers of fire. Generalised linear modelling is then used to explore the independent roles of climate, vegetation changes and human activities on changes in fire regimes for each region and for the northern extratropics as a whole. This study provides quantitive information about the differential importance of the drivers of changes in fire regimes in different regions and at different timescales since the Last Glacial Maximum, and provides insights about how these may influence future fire regimes across this region.</p><p> </p>

ABSTRACTFires determine vegetation patterns, impact human societies, and provide complex feedbacks into the global climate system. Empirical and process-based models differ in their scale and mechanistic assumptions, giving divergent predictions of fire drivers and extent. Especially, the role of anthropogenic drivers remains less understood. Taking a data-driven approach, we use an artificial neural network to learn region-specific relationships between fire and its socio-environmental drivers across the globe. As a result, our models achieve higher predictability than previously reported, with global spatial correlation of 0.92, temporal correlation of 0.76, interannual correlation of 0.69, and grid-cell level correlation of 0.6, between predicted and observed burned area. Our analysis reveals universal global patterns in fire-climate interactions, coupled with strong regional differences in fire-human relationships. Given the current socio-anthropogenic conditions, Equatorial Asia, southern Africa, and Australia show a strong sensitivity of fire extent to temperature whereas northern Africa shows a strong negative sensitivity. Overall, forests and shrublands, show a stronger sensitivity of burned area to temperature compared to savannas, potentially weakening their status as carbon sinks under future climate-change scenarios.

This research was conducted to determine the Effectiveness of Jakarta Siaga 112 Emergency Services in Fire Management by UPT. Disaster Data & Information Center of BPBD DKI Jakarta Province by paying attention to aspects contained in the Effectiveness of the Jakarta Siaga Emergency Service Program 112. The research method was carried out with a case study method with data collection techniques using interview methods and document review. Interviews were conducted on 10 (ten) key informants, document review focused on documents related to the Jakarta Emergency Alert Service 112 Effectiveness research in Fire Management. The results showed that the Effectiveness of Jakarta Siaga 112 Emergency Services in Fire Management by UPT. The Center for Disaster Data & Information BPBD DKI Jakarta Province Its effectiveness is still low, due to the Implementation of Emergency Services Jakarta Standby 112 in Fire Management implemented by UPT. Disaster Data & Information Center of BPBD DKI Jakarta Province in terms of the Target Group Understanding of the Program, the Achievement of the Program Objectives aspects, and the Program Follow-up aspects. It is recommended to continue to disseminate this Emergency Service to the public, it is necessary to increase the firm commitment of the Head of 8 SKPD related to fire management so that all units play a role in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Fire Management and the evaluation and follow-up of program services that are held periodically 3 once a month.Keywords: Effectiveness, Emergency Services, Fire Handling
