ASME PTC 46 Performance Tests in Digital Plant Context

ASME PTC46 is nowadays a well known widely used Performance Test Code for Plant thermal performances. The Code — originally published in 1996, revised in 2015 — delivers all required guidance and methods for determination of the thermal performances in optimum precision conditions. Present paper considers going a step further in the performance test methodology in the modern context, ie specifically for Plants supported by Digital methods. Although a PTC46 test will deliver valuable information, this information — ie the test result — is valid solely at the point of time of the test on site, after which Plant Operator will not necessarily again have a very sharp vision of the level of Performances. Recent Digital tools and methods are a major change in this context and at present Operators of Digitalised Plants have access to a methodic systematic continuous measurement of the gaps between on-line performances and ideal “as should” status. Availability of such advanced functionalities is now opening the door to a radical change of the guarantees definitions, delivering to Plant developers better inputs without arbitrary assumptions as well as methodic and transparent measurement of the actual performance over significant periods of time, in opposition to the few hours of a PTC46 traditional test. Present paper addresses the possible definition of such new guarantees, as well as updates of the correction approach that are needed in order to make use of the Code principles in the modern Digital context. Pro and cons of both methods are discussed in detail , as well as analogy with other Power Plant areas.

A new method is suggested for the accurate determination of the incident beam direction K, crystal thickness t and the coordinates of the basic reciprocal lattice vectors V1 and V2 (Fig. 1) of the ZOLZ plans in pixels of the digitized 2-D CBED pattern. For a given structure model and some estimated values Vest and Kest of some point O in the CBED pattern a set of line scans AkBk is chosen so that all the scans are located within CBED disks. The points on line scans AkBk are conjugate to those on A0B0 since they are shifted by the reciprocal vector gk with respect to each other. As many conjugate scans are considered as CBED disks fall into the energy filtered region of the experimental pattern. Electron intensities of the transmitted beam I0 and diffracted beams Igk for all points on conjugate scans are found as a function of crystal thickness t on the basis of the full dynamical calculation.

This chapter examines the difference between John Locke's definition of a person [P], considered as a kind of thing, and his definition of a subject of experience of a certain sophisticated sort [S]. It first discusses the equation [P] = [S], where [S] is assumed to be a continuing thing that is able to survive radical change of substantial realization, as well as Locke's position about consciousness in relation to [P]'s identity or existence over time as [S]. It argues that Locke is not guilty of circularity because he is not proposing consciousness as the determinant of [S]'s identity over time, but only of [S]'s moral and legal responsibility over time. Finally, it suggests that the terms “Person” and “Personal identity” pull apart, in Locke's scheme of things, but in a perfectly coherent way.

The concept of failed state came to the fore with the end of the Cold War, the collapse of the USSR and the disintegration of Yugoslavia. Political violence is central in these discussions on the definition of the concept or the determination of its dimensions (indicators). Specifically, the level of political violence, the type of political violence and intensity of political violence has been broached in the literature. An effective classification of political violence can lead us to a better understanding of state failure phenomenon. By using Tilly’s classification of collective violence which is based on extent of coordination among violent actors and salience of short-run damage, the role played by political violence in state failure can be understood clearly. In order to do this, two recent cases, Iraq and Syria will be examined.

The paper purpose is the effectiveness estimation in the technological equipment use, taking into account its reliability and productivity for defective transmission units of buses. The problem consists in the determination of time to be spent on repair of bus transmission units taking into account technological equipment reliability. In the paper there is used a probabilistic method for the prediction bus transmission units, and also a method of the dynamics of averages which allow ensuring minimum of costs for units downtime during repair and equipment cost. The need for repair of transmission units (gear box) arises on an average after 650 hours, the average productivity of the bench makes 4.2 bus / hour. The bench fails on the average after 4600 hours of work, the average time of the bench makes 2 hours. In such a way the solution of the problem specified allows analyzing the necessity of time decrease for transmission unit repair to avoid long downtimes of buses in repair areas without negative impact upon high repair quality and safety during the further operation.
