The assessment of the limiting state of high-speed machine-manual taps in the processing of structural steel billets is considered. A general multi-parameter dependence is developed for calculating the criterion of allowable wear, which makes it possible to rationally use the tool life and normalize the cut amount during regrinding. Keywords thread cutting, tap, angle of the cutting part, criterion, high-speed steel, wear, failure, life, service life. [email protected]

With excellent properties, high-temperature superalloys have become the main application materials for aircraft engines, gas turbines, and many other devices. However, superalloys are typically difficult to machine, especially for the thread cutting. In this article, an ultrasonic vibration–assisted turning system is proposed for thread cutting operations in superalloys. A theoretical analysis of ultrasonic vibration–assisted thread cutting is carried out. An ultrasonic vibration–assisted system was integrated into a standard lathe to demonstrate thread turning in Inconel 718 superalloy. The influence of ultrasonic vibration–assisted machining on workpiece surface quality, chip shape, and tool wear was analyzed. The relationship between machining parameters and ultrasonic vibration–assisted processing performance was also explored. By analyzing the motion relationship between tool path and workpiece surface, the reasons for improved workpiece surface quality by ultrasonic vibration–assisted machining were explained.

In this study, piezoelectric actuator, Flexure guide, Power transmission element and control method and considered for Nano-positioning system apparatus. The main objectives of this thesis were to develop the 3-axis Ultra-precision stages which enable the 3-axis control by the manipulation of the piezoelectric actuator and to enhance the precision of the Ultra-Precision CNC lathe which is responsible for the ductile mode machining of the hardened-brittle material where the machining is based on the single crystal diamond. Ultra-precision CNC lathe is used for machining and motion error of the machine are compensated by using 3-axis Ultra-precision stage. Through the simulation and experiments on ultra-precision positioning, stability and priority on Nano-positioning system with 3-axis ultra-precision stage and control algorithm are secured by using NI Labview. And after applying the system, is to analyze the surface morphology of the mold steel (SKD61)

This study developed a method called non-axisymmetric curved surface turning (NACS-Turning) for a CNC lathe composed of a turning axis and two translation axes. The NACS-Turning method controls the three axes synchronously. This new machining method can reduce the lead time for non-circular shapes such as cam profiles or pistons for internal combustion engines. In our previous report, we presented an outline of a machining principle and a CAM system for NACS-Turning. However, at the same time, we found the problem that the X-axis slide exceeds the allowable acceleration. Therefore, it is preferable that the acceleration is verified during the cam application, and the tool path is generated within the allowable acceleration range. Therefore, this paper first describes the determination method of machinable conditions for NACS-Turning in the cam application. Next, based on the result, relationships between the acceleration of the X-axis slide and machining conditions are clarified. Finally, the experimental procedure showed that our proposed method does not exceed the allowable acceleration of the X-axis slide.

The scarcity and imperfection of power tool rest noise detection method have seriously limited the development of the industry of CNC lathe, lathe and milling composite machining center. A noise detection system based on LabVIEW is developed. The developed system adopts a noise sensor as noise detection component to test the noise information of the power tool rest. To enhance the anti-interference ability of this system, the sampled signals are amplified and adjusted by the signal disposal instrument. Through the spectrum transformation and spectrum analysis of the sampled noise signals, the noise causes of the power tool rest can be inquired and the concerned measurements can be taken to reduce the noise effectively. Finally, the sampled data is stored by the data saving function.
