AbstractWe present the new class of the far infrared photodetectors based on the lead-tin tellurides doped with the group III impurities. The persistent photoconductivity effect appearing in these materials provides an internal signal integration resulting in a considerable increase in the signal-to-noise ratio. The techniques of the photomemory quenching are discussed. In some regime of quenching the effect of giant quantum efficiency stimulation has been observed. The possibility of generation of the photoinduced spatially nonequilibrium states provides the physical evidence for the construction of an integrating “continuous” focal-plane array based on Pb1−xSnxTe(In).

Far-infrared radiation (FIR) possesses various promising properties that are beneficial to an individuals’ health. Exploring the interaction between fiber shapes and FIR performance is thought to be a significant means to develop highly-efficient FIR textile products. In this study, a non-additive triangular polyamide (PA) fiber showed excellent FIR properties in both theoretical simulation and experimental verification aspects. The triangular PA fiber affords a higher probability to facilitate large optical path difference, improving both FIR absorption and emission. Textiles woven with the specific triangular PA fiber achieved a remarkable emissivity of 91.85% and temperature difference of 2.11 Celsius, which is obviously superior to the reference circular fiber (86.72%, 1.52 Celsius). Considering the low cost, environmental stability, facile fabrication, as well as being environmentally friendly, this non-additive triangular PA fiber has great potential for high-performance and cost-effective FIR textiles in the future.

We propose a roll-to-roll process for vitamin D3 patch production. A solution of 7-dehydrocholesterol is applied to a plastic film by roll-to-roll slot-die coating and dried by a far-infrared lamp. Upon exposure to ultraviolet B irradiation, these films are converted to previtamin D3 films. After heat-treating the previtamin D3 film, high-performance liquid chromatography measurements are performed using commercial vitamin D3 as a standard sample. The results confirm that vitamin D3 can be produced by large-area coating and post-treatment processes. Specifically, 3.16 ± 0.746 mg of vitamin D3 is obtained through ultraviolet B irradiation and heat-treatment of 24.8 ± 1.44 mg of coated 7-dehydrocholesterol.

AbstractThe optical spectra of PbTe:In,Ga samples were studied in the Far Infrared region at temperatures T=11 K–3 50K. Anomalous behavior of the temperature dependence of the plasma frequency at 65K–80K was observed for the first time. This is explained by means of a model of localized changes in the lead telluride lattice structure near impurity centers.
