Streptococcus agalactiae serotypes Ia and III were isolated from infected tilapia in cage and pond culture farms in Thailand during 2012 to 2014, in which pathogenicity analysis demonstrated that serotype III showed higher virulence than serotype Ia. Here, we report the draft genome sequencing of piscine S. agalactiae serotypes Ia and III.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus sequence type 72 (ST72) is prevalent in South Korea and has shown resistance to multiple antimicrobials. ST72 isolates display different levels of resistance to the antistaphylococcal lysostaphin. Draft genome sequencing of ST72 human isolates exhibiting lysostaphin resistance or susceptibility was performed to better understand the mechanism of lysostaphin resistance using subtractive genomics.

This report describes the draft genome sequences of Lactobacillus salivarius A3iob and Lactobacillus johnsonii CRL1647, probiotic strains isolated from the gut of honeybee Apis mellifera workers. The reads were generated by a whole-genome sequencing (WGS) strategy on an Illumina MiSeq sequencer and were assembled into contigs with total sizes of 2,054,490 and 2,137,413 bp for the A3iob and CRL1647 strains, respectively.

Here, we report the draft genome sequences of 16 nontyphoidal Salmonella enterica isolates obtained from locally produced meats in Tamale, Ghana, which are commonly consumed by most natives as an important protein source. The draft genomes will help provide a molecular snapshot of Salmonella enterica isolates found in these retail meats in Tamale.

ABSTRACT Whole-genome sequencing and annotation have allowed planetary protection engineers to assess the functional capabilities of microorganisms isolated from spacecraft hardware and associated surfaces. Here, we report draft genomes of six strains isolated from the InSight mission, determined using Oxford Nanopore- and Illumina-based sequencing.

Streptococcus agalactiae is a major pathogen and is the leading cause of neonatal infections in industrialized countries. The diversity of strains isolated from two pregnant women was investigated. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of strains W8A2, W8A6, W10E2, and W10F3, obtained in order to ascertain their phylogenetic affiliation.

A clinical isolate of extended-spectrum-β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella quasipneumoniae subsp. similipneumoniae 06-219 with hypermucoviscosity phenotypes obtained from a urine culture of an adult patient was used for whole-genome sequencing. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of this strain, consisting of 53 contigs with an ~5.6-Mb genome size and an average G+C content of 57.36%. The annotation revealed 6,622 coding DNA sequences and 77 tRNA genes.

Some smut fungi of the family Ustilaginaceae produce itaconate from glucose. De novo genome sequencing of nine itaconate-producing Ustilaginaceae revealed genome sizes between 19 and 25 Mbp. Comparison to the itaconate cluster of U. maydis MB215 revealed all essential genes for itaconate production contributing to metabolic engineering for improving itaconate production.
