ABSTRACT Strains of the ciprofloxacin-resistant (Cip r ) Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kentucky sequence type 198 (ST198) have rapidly and extensively disseminated globally to become a major food safety and public health concern. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a Cip r S. Kentucky ST198 strain, PU131, isolated from a human patient in Washington State (USA).

Streptococcus agalactiae is an important causal pathogen of neonatal and obstetric sepsis, and it may be involved in invasive infection in immunocompromised and elderly individuals. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Streptococcus agalactiae serotype III strain HU-GS5823, which was isolated from a patient in Japan with an invasive infection.

Salmonella enterica is a highly important foodborne pathogen worldwide. We report the complete genome sequence of a sequence type 14 Salmonella enterica serotype Senftenberg strain carrying the mcr-9 gene in a plasmid isolated from broken chicken eggshells in Trinidad and Tobago, obtained by using a combination of long- and short-read sequencing.

ABSTRACT In 2015, plasmid-mediated colistin resistance was reported to be caused by a mobilized phosphoethanolamine transferase gene (mcr-1) in Enterobacteriaceae. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the earliest d-tartrate-fermenting Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Paratyphi B isolate harboring mcr-1 from the collection of the German National Reference Laboratory for Salmonella.

The recent emergence and dissemination of mobilized colistin resistance ( mcr ) genes have triggered extensive concerns globally. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a colistin-susceptible Salmonella enterica serotype Minnesota strain (named SA18578), belonging to sequence type 548 (ST548) and carrying the mcr-9 gene on an IncHI2/IncHI2A plasmid, that was isolated from chicken meat in Saudi Arabia in 2020.

ABSTRACT Here we report the complete genome sequence of Streptococcus agalactiae strain 874391. This serotype III isolate is a member of the hypervirulent sequence type 17 (ST-17) lineage that causes a disproportionate number of cases of invasive disease in humans and mammals. A brief historical context of the strain is discussed.

Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa is defined as a “critical” priority pathogen for the development of new antibiotics. Here we report the complete genome sequence of an extensively drug-resistant, Verona integron-encoded metallo-β-lactamase-expressing isolate belonging to the high-risk sequence type 233.

We present here the complete genome sequence of Lactococcus lactis strain 14B4, isolated from almond drupes in northern California. This strain was observed to inhibit the growth of Salmonella enterica serotype Poona strain RM3363 in vitro.

ABSTRACT Staphylococcus aureus JH4899, a community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) isolate collected from a patient with systematically disseminated infection, is classified as sequence type 8 and carries the staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec type IVl (SCCmecIVl). It produces TSST-1, SEC, a newly discovered enterotoxin (SE1), and epidermal cell differentiation inhibitor A (EDIN-A). Here, we present the complete genome sequence of the chromosome and a plasmid harboring the se1 and ednA genes.

Sequence type 1 (ST1) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) type IV[2B] has become one of the most common community-associated MRSA clones in Australia. We report the complete genome sequence of one of the earliest isolated Australian S. aureus ST1-MRSA-IV strains, WBG8287, isolated from an Indigenous Australian patient living in the remote Kimberley Region of Western Australia.
