ABSTRACT Nocardia wallacei is one of the members of the N. transvalensis complex which possess a highly unique susceptibility pattern. Here, we describe the closed complete genome sequence of the multidrug-resistant strain N. wallacei FMUON74, which was obtained using a hybrid approach combining Nanopore long-read sequencing and Illumina and DNBseq short-read sequencing.

The complete genome sequence of Streptococcus pneumoniae strain Rx1, a Hex mismatch repair-deficient standard transformation recipient, was obtained by combining Nanopore and Illumina sequencing technologies. The genome consists of a 2.03-Mb circular chromosome, with 2,054 open reading frames and a GC content of 39.72%.

Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 12F rarely colonizes the nasopharynx but commonly causes invasive pneumococcal disease. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a sequence type 4846 (ST4846) S. pneumoniae serotype 12F strain isolated from a cluster of invasive pneumococcal disease patients in Japan.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative bacterium that is a major cause of nosocomial infections worldwide. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of TK421, a clinical bacteremia isolate containing a hypervirulence plasmid carrying tra-associated conjugation machinery genes. Emergence of conjugative hypervirulence plasmids could portend rapid dissemination of hypervirulence among multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae strains.

May is a newly isolated myophage that infects multidrug-resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a pathogen that is associated with antibiotic-resistant infections in humans. The genome of May has been shown to be similar to that of phage Vi01.

Streptococcus agalactiae is an important causal pathogen of neonatal and obstetric sepsis, and it may be involved in invasive infection in immunocompromised and elderly individuals. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Streptococcus agalactiae serotype III strain HU-GS5823, which was isolated from a patient in Japan with an invasive infection.

Antimicrobial resistance is a major problem worldwide. Understanding the interplay between drug-resistant pathogens, such as Acinetobacter baumannii and related species, potentially acting as environmental reservoirs is critical for preventing the spread of resistance determinants.

Multidrug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus cause serious human disease worldwide. Bacteriophages offer a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics. Here, we announce the 141,712-bp genome of S. aureus phage Maine. A myophage with 9,019-bp predicted terminal repeats and high similarity to other Staphylococcus phages, Maine falls into the Twort-like group.

The carbapenem resistance gene bla NDM-5 was identified in an Escherichia coli strain isolated from a dog. We report here the complete genome sequence of this E. coli strain; the bla NDM-5 gene was present on a large IncFII multidrug-resistant plasmid. This is the first bla NDM-5-carrying E. coli strain from an animal in the United States.
