We report the first draft genome sequence of an acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND)-causing Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain isolated from a Penaeus vannamei sample from the Philippines. The strain carries the genes encoding the Pir-like toxin pair PirAvp and PirBvp.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the draft genome sequence of an isolate of Vibrio parahaemolyticus , VP14, recovered from the gut of Penaeus vannamei shrimp farmed in southern India. The genome of VP14 comprised 5,224,046 bp with a GC content of 45.3% and contained 5,326 genes, including 4,972 coding sequences.

We report the first draft genome sequence of a Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain (Vp AHPND), which causes acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in Penaeus monodon. The strain has a pVA1-like plasmid carrying pirAvp and pirBvp genes.

ABSTRACT We report here the genome sequence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain M1-1, which causes a mild form of shrimp acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND). Compared to other virulent strains, the M1-1 genome appeared to express several additional genes, while some genes were missing. These instabilities may be related to the reduced virulence of M1-1.

ABSTRACT Bowmanella denitrificans strain JL63 was isolated from a whiteleg shrimp ( Litopenaeus vannamei ) and was determined to have antibacterial activity against an acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus . Here, we report the draft genome sequence of this strain and identify genes that are potentially involved in its antibacterial activity.

We sequenced the genome of Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain ST17.P5-S1, isolated from Penaeus vannamei cultured in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The strain contains several antibiotic resistance genes and a plasmid encoding the Photorhabdus insect-related (Pir) toxin-like genes, pirAvp and pirBvp, associated with acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND).

ABSTRACT Vibrio parahaemolyticus carrying the toxin genes pirA and pirB causes acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease in shrimp. A genome sequence of V. parahaemolyticus strain R13 was determined that showed deletions of the entire pirA gene and the 5ʹ end of the pirB gene and does not cause the disease in experimental challenge.

We sequenced Vibrio owensii strain SH-14, which causes serious acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in shrimp. Sequence analysis showed a large extrachromosomal plasmid, which encoded pir toxin genes and shared highly sequence similarity with the one observed in AHPND-causing Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains. The results suggest that this plasmid appears to play an important role in shrimp AHPND.

A strain of Vibrio (KC13.17.5) causing acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in shrimp in northern Vietnam was isolated. Normally, AHPND is caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus , but the genomic sequence of the strain indicated that it belonged to Vibrio harveyi . The sequence data included plasmid-like sequences and putative virulence genes.

Proteus mirabilis CKTH01 is a pathogenic bacterium isolated from raw chicken meat. The genome sequence of P. mirabilis CKTH01 contains genes encoding multidrug efflux pumps, which are the virulence factors of the antibiotic-resistant bacterium. This 3.98-Mb draft genome sequence of P. mirabilis CKTH01 will contribute to the understanding of the distribution of multidrug-resistant P. mirabilis in raw chicken meat at the open markets.
