The emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains in diverse settings has been reported globally. In the Philippine shrimp aquaculture industry, antibiotics are used for the treatment of bacterial diseases during the production cycle. We report the draft genome of Vibrio parahaemolyticus PH698, a multidrug-resistant strain isolated from a Philippine shrimp farm.

ABSTRACTAfter the introduction of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in Malaysia in recent years, the emergence of nonvaccine serotypes is of concern, particularly the antibiotic-resistant strains, with an increase specifically in serotype 15A. Here, we report the draft genome sequence ofStreptococcus pneumoniaestrain SS40_16, isolated from the blood sample of a 19-month-old female in 2016. SS40_16 is a multidrug-resistant strain with resistance to penicillin (MIC, ≥2 µg/ml), tetracycline, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. The strain belongs to serotype 15A and sequence type 1591 (ST1591).

ABSTRACT Pathogenic microorganisms associated with avian nests may detrimentally impact parental health and nest success for the nest primary users, potentially neighboring avian or terrestrial species, including humans. Here, we report the genome sequence of Enterococcus faecalis strain PM01, isolated from a failed nest of American bushtits, Psaltriparius minimus.

ABSTRACT In this work, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of the multiply antibiotic-resistant Citrobacter portucalensis strain MBTC-1222 isolated from the uziza leafy vegetable in Nigeria. Sequence analysis showed the assembled genome size to be 4,881,935 bp, containing 4,603 protein-coding genes, 131 pseudogenes, 7 rRNAs, 74 tRNAs, and 9 noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs).

Here, we report the genome sequence of PA291, a nonmucoid, multidrug-resistant strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from cystic fibrosis sputum. Short reads were de novo assembled into 190 contigs and scaffold assembled to a length of 6.26 Mbp. PhiSpy predicts that PA291 is free of prophages.

ABSTRACT Providencia stuartii is frequently associated with nosocomial outbreaks and displays intrinsic resistance to many commonly used antimicrobials. We report here the draft genome sequence of a P. stuartii strain carrying acquired resistance genes conferring panresistance to cephalosporins (bla SHV-5 and bla VEB-1), carbapenems (bla VIM-1), and aminoglycosides (rmtB) involved in an outbreak in Greek hospitals.

ABSTRACT Streptococcus agalactiae is a bovine pathogen that causes intramammary infections. For humans, S. agalactiae is a leading cause of neonatal death and an emerging pathogen in adults. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of S. agalactiae TA B490, a multidrug-resistant strain isolated from bovine mastitis in Argentina.
