Escherichia coli is a Gram-negative bacterium often found in animal intestinal tracts. Here, we present the genome of the Guernseyvirinae-like E. coli 4s siphophage Snoke. The 44.4-kb genome contains 81 protein-coding genes, for which 33 functions were predicted. The capsid morphogenesis gene in Snoke contains a large intein.

Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) bacteria are one of the main problems of the poultry industry. An effective way to combat colibacillosis is to use a phage preparation that lyses the bacteria. Here, we report the isolation of an E. coli-infecting phage, CEC_KAZ_2018, isolated from soil.

The carbapenem resistance gene bla NDM-5 was identified in an Escherichia coli strain isolated from a dog. We report here the complete genome sequence of this E. coli strain; the bla NDM-5 gene was present on a large IncFII multidrug-resistant plasmid. This is the first bla NDM-5-carrying E. coli strain from an animal in the United States.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of Escherichia coli J53, which is used as a recipient in conjugation experiments and is a laboratory strain derived from E. coli K-12. This genome sequence will help in the development of a comprehensive genetic analysis of conjugative elements.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of Escherichia coli ME8067, an azide-resistant laboratory strain used for conjugation experiments. The ME8067 genome was closely related to E. coli strain K-12 substrain W3110. This genome sequence will support further genetic analysis of conjugative elements.

ABSTRACT Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the Escherichia coli myophage vB_EcoM_Alf5 belonging to the genus Felixo1virus, whose members have not been comprehensively studied at the molecular level. Phage vB_EcoM_Alf5 infects E. coli K-12-derived laboratory strains and therefore is well suited for functional studies.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli SE15 (O150:H5) is a human commensal bacterium recently isolated from feces of a healthy adult and classified into E. coli phylogenetic group B2, which includes the majority of extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli. Here, we report the finished and annotated genome sequence of this organism.

Neonatal meningitis E. coli (NMEC) is the second leading cause of sepsis and meningitis in neonates worldwide. Here, we report the genome sequence of NMEC15, belonging to serotype O18:K1, isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of an infant with neonatal bacterial meningitis (NBM) in the Netherlands.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli sequence type 131 (ST131) is the most frequent antimicrobial-resistant lineage of E. coli, propagating extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) worldwide. Recently, an alarming rate of increase in isolates of the sublineage C1/H30R-bla CTX-M-27 of ST131 in geographically distant countries was reported. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of the ST131 sublineage C1/H30R E. coli isolate harboring bla CTX-M-27 from Germany.

ABSTRACT Bacteriophage OSYSP is a new anti-Escherichia coli O157:H7 phage isolated from municipal wastewater in Ohio. OSYSP is potent against enterohemorrhagic E. coli and is a candidate biocontrol agent for food and therapeutic applications. In this paper, we present the important genetic features of this phage based on its complete genome sequence.
