ABSTRACT Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Staphylococcus aureus strain 834, which was isolated from a septic patient in Japan and showed strong virulence and methicillin resistance. The complete genome consists of a 2,838,668-bp chromosome and a 24,653-bp plasmid. Genome annotation predicts 2,670 coding sequences, 16 rRNAs, and 61 tRNAs.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the high-quality complete genome sequence of Staphylococcus aureus EDCC 5398, which was isolated from a patient with implant-associated bone infection. The assembled genome consists of 2,843,534 bp, with a G+C content of 33%; it has 2,739 coding sequences, belongs to sequence type 22, and contains mecA and balz genes, which contribute to methicillin resistance.

The hospital-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (HA-MRSA) strain WCUH29 has been intensively and widely used as a model system for identification and evaluation of novel antibacterial targets and pathogenicity. In this announcement, we report the complete genome sequence of HA-MRSA WCUH29 (NCIMB 40771).

ABSTRACT A potentially therapeutic Twort-like myophage, Esa1, with specificity toward Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from lake water. We report the complete genome sequence of ESa1, assembled using both MinION and Illumina MiSeq reads, consisting of 153,106 bp, with 30.3% GC content, 253 protein coding sequences, 4 tRNAs, and 10,437-bp direct terminal repeats.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important opportunistic pathogen with strong virulence and an invasive nature. Here, we report the complete genome of strain XN-1, which was isolated from the sputum of a severe pneumonia patient. The complete genome consists of one chromosome with 6,340,573 bp. Genome annotation predicts 5,974 coding sequences, 64 tRNAs, and 12 rRNAs.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is increasingly becoming resistant to most antibiotics and consequently has become a challenging public health problem in Sudan. The present study documented the first complete genome sequence of strain SO-1977, isolated from a contaminated wound in Sudan.

Staphylococcal pathogens, especially multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, are responsible for various clinical infections. Multilocus sequence type 630 (ST630) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has been shown to have augmented pathogenicity in humans. In this announcement, we report the complete genome sequence of community-acquired methicillin-resistant strain RJ1267 of Staphylococcus aureus ST630.

Severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is relatively rare and is usually associated with rapid progression to death. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the MRSA strain JMUB3031, which was isolated from a patient with fatal CAP.

ABSTRACT Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of an exfoliative toxin-producing strain of Staphylococcus aureus sequence type 582 (ST582), isolated from a case of staphylococcal scalded-skin syndrome. The genome consists of a single circularized unitig with a total length of 2,792,190 bp carrying 2,699 genes. The genome is the basis for future epidemiological and genomic studies.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the first complete genome sequence of the Staphylococcus aureus strain Wood 46. Wood 46 has played an important role in understanding the virulence and pathogenesis of S. aureus infections. This report will assist efforts in vaccine development against methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infections.

Lactobacillus brevis strain 100D8 was isolated from rye silage and showed rapid acidification ability in vitro and antifungal activity against mycotoxin-producing fungi. We report here the complete genome sequence of L. brevis strain 100D8, which has a circular chromosome (2,351,988 bp, 2,304 coding sequences [CDSs]) and three plasmids (45,061 bp, 57 CDSs; 40,740 bp, 40 CDSs; and 39,943 bp, 57 CDSs).
