Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol–Protein Conjugates
The syntheses of four distinct derivatives of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), intended for subsequent coupling to proteins and for use as hapten–protein conjugates for the production of anti-THC antibodies, are described. Three of these THC derivatives were coupled to proteins with the aid of the water-soluble carbodiimide, 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride, and the fourth in the form of THC-isocyanate was conjugated directly to proteins.
