We examine the possibility that heavy lepton (L) pair production can be significantly enhanced by the existence of a new neutral gauge boson Z′ in hadron collisions. We find that in several E6-type models, the [Formula: see text] production cross section far exceeds that expected in the standard model. This may allow for the observation of [Formula: see text] pairs above the large W+W− background.

We examine the possibility that heavy lepton pair production can be significantly enhanced by the existence of a new neutral gauge boson, Z’, at SSC energies. We find that in some models, the heavy lepton production cross section resulting from this mechanism exceeds that from production via other scenarios.

We explore the sensitivities of e+e− colliders (LEP, CLIC) and hadron-hadron colliders (CERN [Formula: see text], FNAL [Formula: see text], LHC pp and SSC pp) to the indirect effects of virtual scalar particles with superstring-inspired leptoquark and diquark couplings. We find that e+e− colliders have better sensitivities via total cross section measurements of [Formula: see text] than via asymmetry measurements, and that LEP 2 is much more sensitive than LEP 1. Hadron-hadron colliders are sensitive via lepton-pair production cross sections ( [Formula: see text]μ+μ−, τ+τ−).

A measurement of the [Formula: see text] production cross-section at [Formula: see text] with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, based on the application of a multivariate topological method is presented. The integrated luminosity corresponds to 143.9 pb-1 in the μ+jets and 141.2 pb-1 in the e+jets channel. The preliminary cross-section is measured to be [Formula: see text].

Data collected with the DELPHI detector at centre-of-mass energies up to the highest values explored by the LEP collider of about 206 GeV have been used to extract preliminary values of the cross-section for the process e+e- → W+W-. The branching ratios of the W decay were also measured; from them the value of |Vcs| was extracted. The results are compared with the most recent calculations in the framework of the Standard Model.

We apply Bogoliubov compensation principle to the problem of forward–backward asymmetry in [Formula: see text] production at TEVATRON. The nontrivial solution of compensation equation for anomalous four-fermion effective interaction of doublets of heavy and light quarks leads to possibility of existence of [Formula: see text] vector bound states (resonance). The coupling of the bound state to [Formula: see text], u pair is calculated. With this result we obtain satisfactory description of totality of data on the effect of FB asymmetry including slope of effect dependence on invariant [Formula: see text] mass. Predictions for the resonance mass and production cross-section at LHC are presented.

Data collected with the DELPHI detector at [Formula: see text] up to LEP2 highest energies (i.e. exceeding 205 GeV) have been used to extract preliminary values of the cross-sections for quark-antiquark pair-production in e + e - annihilations. The values found were used to test the Standard Model predictions and to seek for physics beyond it.

Measurements of the [Formula: see text] production cross-section at [Formula: see text] in proton-antiproton collisions were performed by the CDF and DØ collaborations using [Formula: see text] final states where both W's decay hadronically. Each experiment uses luminosity of about 160 pb-1 of data collected during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Beside kinematical observables both experiments take advantage of identifying b jets based on lifetime tagging. While CDF counts the number of b-tags over background after a cut based analysis, DØ counts the excess of events after a neural network based kinematical selection and requiring a b-tagged jet. CDF obtains [Formula: see text]; [Formula: see text].

We report a measurement of the [Formula: see text] production cross section using dilepton events with jets and missing transverse energy in [Formula: see text] collisions at [Formula: see text]. Using 197 pb-1 of data recorded by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II), we use two complementary techniques to select candidate events. The combined result yields a [Formula: see text] production cross section of [Formula: see text] which is consistent with the Standard Model.
