Fundamental problems of periodicity and transient process to periodicity of chaotic trajectories in computer realization with finite computation precision is investigated by taking single and coupled Logistic maps as examples. Empirical power law relations of the period and transient iterations with the computation precisions and the sizes of coupled systems are obtained. For each computation we always find, by randomly choosing initial conditions, a single dominant periodic trajectory which is realized with major portion of probability. These understandings are useful for possible applications of chaos, e.g., chaotic cryptography in secure communication.

Significant research efforts have been invested in recent years to export new concepts for secure cryptographic methods. Many mathematicians are attracted by Chaos functions as it has sensitive nature toward its initial conditions and their colossal suitability to problems in daily life. Inspired by new researches, a new chaotic cryptography algorithm is proposed in this paper. The key feature of this approach is that instantaneous key is generated at host independently that is used to determine the type of operations on each pixel. The information available in images is 24 bit RGB these value are modified mathematically using eight reversible operations. Also during encryption, the control parameter of the chaotic system is updated timely.

Many of the insights of economics seem to be qualitative, with many fewer reliable quantitative laws. However a series of power laws in economics do count as true and nontrivial quantitative laws—and they are not only established empirically, but also understood theoretically. I will start by providing several illustrations of empirical power laws having to do with patterns involving cities, firms, and the stock market. I summarize some of the theoretical explanations that have been proposed. I suggest that power laws help us explain many economic phenomena, including aggregate economic fluctuations. I hope to clarify why power laws are so special, and to demonstrate their utility. In conclusion, I list some power-law-related economic enigmas that demand further exploration. A formal definition may be useful.

Abstract Many studies have been introduced in the literature showing that two identical chaotic systems can be synchronized with different initial conditions. Secure data communication applications have also been made using synchronization methods. In the study, synchronization times of two popular synchronization methods are compared, which is an important issue for communication. Among the synchronization methods, active control, integer, and fractional-order Pecaro Carroll (P-C) method was used to synchronize the Burke-Shaw chaotic attractor. The experimental results showed that the P-C method with optimum fractional-order is synchronized in 2.35 times shorter time than the active control method. This shows that the P-C method using fractional-order creates less delay in synchronization and is more convenient to use in secure communication applications.

Recently, with the development multimedia technologies and wireless telecommunication, Voice over Internet Protocol, becomes widely used in communication between connecting people, VoIP allows people that are connected to the local network or the Internet to make voice calls using digital connection instead of based on the analog traditional telephone network. The technologies of Internet doesn’t give any security mechanism and there is no way to guarntee that the voice streams will be transmitted over Internet or network have not been intercepted in between. In this paper, VoIP is developed using stream cipher algorithm and the chaotic cryptography for key generator. It is based on the chaotic maps for generating a one-time random key used to encrypt each voice data in the RTP packet. Chaotic maps have been used successfully for encryption bulky data such as voice, image, and video, chaotic cryptography has good properties such as long periodicity, pseudo-randomness, and sensitivity to initial conditions and change in system parameters. A VoIP system was successfully implemented based on the on ITU-T G.729 for voice codec, as a multimedia encoding of Real-time Transport Protocol payload data, then, apply a proposed method to generate three-mixed logistic chaotic maps [1] and then analysis the encryption/ decryption quality measures for speech signal based this method. The experimental work demonstrates that the proposed scheme can provide confidentiality to voice data with voice over IP performance quality, minimum lost in transmitted packet, minimum average delay, and minimum jitter.

Undesired vibrations in structures, buildings, and machines lead to reduction in the life of the system and greatly affects the safety of the occupying or operating personnel. In addition, economic and time losses could result from needed repairs or reconstruction. Many control techniques, active and passive, have been devised over the years to reduce/eliminate the vibrations in the aforementioned systems. Passive vibration control techniques are favorable over the active ones due to their simplicity, ease of implementation, cost, and power consumption. In dynamic structures, such as large buildings, passive control techniques are favored over their active counterparts. The most common types of passive control devices are tuned mass and impact dampers. The advocates of each of these devices boasts advantages of the others; however, there have been no systematic studies to compare and quantify the effectiveness of each of these types of devices as well as their suitability for specific applications. In this paper, a comparative study between the tuned mass dampers and impact dampers is conducted. A one-story structure is used to show the effectiveness of each of these devices in absorbing the vibrations of the structure. The coupled systems are modeled and simulated under free vibrations. The time responses are acquired using the same geometric parameters, excitation, and initial conditions. The comparisons are based on the settling time and amplitude decay rates of the primary system using each damper type. The numerical results show that both dampers can produce similar dampening effects if the parameters are optimized; however, correlating the dampers parameters is a challenging problem in the field of vibration and control.

Abstract We investigate the apparent power-law scaling of the pseudo-phase space density (PPSD) in cold dark matter (CDM) haloes. We study fluid collapse, using the close analogy between the gas entropy and the PPSD in the fluid approximation. Our hydrodynamic calculations allow for a precise evaluation of logarithmic derivatives. For scale-free initial conditions, entropy is a power law in Lagrangian (mass) coordinates, but not in Eulerian (radial) coordinates. The deviation from a radial power law arises from incomplete hydrostatic equilibrium (HSE), linked to bulk inflow and mass accretion, and the convergence to the asymptotic central power-law slope is very slow. For more realistic collapse, entropy is not a power law with either radius or mass due to deviations from HSE and scale-dependent initial conditions. Instead, it is a slowly rolling power law that appears approximately linear on a log–log plot. Our fluid calculations recover PPSD power-law slopes and residual amplitudes similar to N-body simulations, indicating that deviations from a power law are not numerical artefacts. In addition, we find that realistic collapse is not self-similar; scalelengths such as the shock radius and the turnaround radius are not power-law functions of time. We therefore argue that the apparent power-law PPSD cannot be used to make detailed dynamical inferences or extrapolate halo profiles inwards, and that it does not indicate any hidden integrals of motion. We also suggest that the apparent agreement between the PPSD and the asymptotic Bertschinger slope is purely coincidental.

In this paper a variety of uncertainty phenomena in chaos synchronization, which are caused by the sensitive dependence on initial conditions and coupling strength, are numerically investigated. Two identical Chua's circuits are considered for both mutually- and unidirectionally-coupled systems. It is found that initial states of the system play an important role in chaos synchronization. Depending on initial conditions, distinct behaviors, such as in-phase synchronization, anti-phase synchronization, oscillation-quenching, and bubbling of attractors, may occur. Based on the findings, we clarify that the systems, which satisfy the standard synchronization criterion, do not necessarily operate in a synchronization regime.

We consider star networks of chaotic oscillators, with all end-nodes connected only to the central hub node, under diffusive coupling, conjugate coupling and mean-field diffusive coupling. We observe the existence of chimeras in the end-nodes, which are identical in terms of the coupling environment and dynamical equations. Namely, the symmetry of the end-nodes is broken and coexisting groups with different synchronization features and attractor geometries emerge. Surprisingly, such chimera states are very wide-spread in this network topology, and large parameter regimes of moderate coupling strengths evolve to chimera states from generic random initial conditions. Further, we verify the robustness of these chimera states in analog circuit experiments. Thus it is evident that star networks provide a promising class of coupled systems, in natural or engineered contexts, where chimeras are prevalent.

In this research, novel M-truncated fractional derivatives with three orders have been proposed. These operators involve truncated Mittag–Leffler function to generalize the Khalil conformable derivative as well as the M-derivative. The new operators proposed are the convolution of truncated M-derivative with a power law, exponential decay and the complete Mittag–Leffler function. Numerical schemes based on Lagrange interpolation to predict chaotic behaviors of Rucklidge, Shimizu–Morioka and a hybrid strange attractors were considered. Additionally, numerical analysis based on 0–1 test and sensitive dependence on initial conditions were carried out to verify and show the existence of chaos in the chaotic attractor. These results showed that these novel operators involving three orders, two for the truncated M-derivative and one for the fractional term, depict complex chaotic behaviors.

The close relationship between chaos and cryptography makes chaotic encryption a natural candidate for secure communication and cryptography. In this manuscript, we prove that a class of maps that have been proposed as suitable for scrambling signals possess the property of sensitive dependence on initial conditions (s.d.i.c.) necessary for chaos and cryptography. Our result can also be used for generating other maps with s.d.i.c., through a suitable semiconjugacy between their input and output parts. Using the condition of semiconjugacy we also establish for this class of maps rigorous criteria for the existence and stability of their fixed points and limit cycles.
