We investigate the role of suspected resonance states, that are yet to be confirmed experimentally, on different thermodynamic quantities as well as the higher-order fluctuations and the correlation between conserved charges using ideal hadron resonance gas (HRG) model. We have discussed the temperature dependence of the various thermodynamic quantities and compared them with the lattice QCD result. We observe that the values of the bulk thermodynamic variables such as pressure, energy density, entropy density and second-order susceptibilities are increased by the inclusion of the additional resonances. Further, we find that the hadronic phase of lattice QCD result of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] can be described well in ideal HRG model with the additional resonances. We have also studied the [Formula: see text] dependence of the fluctuation observables of net-proton, net-kaon and net-charge. Proper experimental acceptance cuts have been used in the model to compare with the data from experimental measurements. It has been observed that the experimental data of lower-order fluctuation observable can be described well by the ideal HRG model. However, higher-order fluctuation observables cannot be described by ideal HRG model for all [Formula: see text] studied here, which indicates the possibility of presence of critical or nonequilibrium physics for those energies. The effect of additional resonances on fluctuation observables of net-charge at different [Formula: see text] has also been studied. Finally, the chemical freeze-out parameters have been extracted from the experimental data of [Formula: see text] of net-proton and net-charge using two different sets of hadronic spectra. We find that for both the sets, the extracted temperature is slightly lower than those obtained from the hadronic yields. Moreover, it is observed that the extracted temperature of the system gets further reduced with addition of more resonances.

The standard implementation of the HRG model has been shown to be unable to describe all the available data on QCD matter. Here we show the balance of repulsive and attractive hadronic interactions on QCD thermodynamics through observables both calculated by lattice simulations and measured in experiment. Attractive interactions are mediated by resonance formation, which are here implemented through extra states predicted by the Quark Model, while repulsive interactions are modelled by means of Excluded Volume (EV) effects. Informations on flavour dependent effective sizes are extracted. It is found that EV effects are present in lattice QCD thermodynamics, and are essential for a comprehensive description of higher order fluctuations of conserved charges.

In this work, we consider extended irreversible thermodynamics in assuming that the entropy density is a function of both common thermodynamic variables and their higher-order time derivatives. An expression for entropy production, and the linear phenomenological equations describing diffusion and chemical reactions, are found in the context of this approach. Solutions of the sets of linear equations with respect to fluxes and their higher-order time derivatives allow the coefficients of diffusion and reaction rate constants to be established as functions of size of the nanosystems in which these reactions occur. The Maxwell-Cattaneo and Jeffreys constitutive equations, as well as the higher-order constitutive equations, which describe the processes in reaction-diffusion systems, are obtained.

When comparing lattice calculation to experimental data from heavy ion collision experiments, the higher order fluctuations of conserved charges are important observables. An efficient way to study these fluctuations is to determine them from simulations at imaginary chemical potential. In this talk we present results up to the six order derivative in μB (with up to eighth order included in the fit), calculated on a 483 × 12 lattice with staggered fermions using different values of μB while μS = μQ = 0.

I will describe the latest results from lattice QCD pertaining to a potential flavour hierarchy in the hadronic freeze-out from the QCD crossover region. I will compare these results to a variety of improved hadronic resonance gas calculations and to experimental data of fluctuations of net-charge, net-proton and net-kaon multiplicity distributions, which serve as a proxy for the susceptibilities of conserved quantum numbers on the lattice. I will conclude that there is intriguing evidence for a flavour dependent freezeout, and I will suggest expansions to the experimental program at RHIC and the LHC that could potentially demonstrate the impact of a flavour separation during hadronization.

Natural flavor and fragrance market size is expected to grow steadily due to the rising consumer demand of natural ingredients. This market request is guided by the general opinion that the production of natural compounds leads to a reduction of pollution, with inherent advantages for the environment and people’s health. The biotransformation reactions have gained high relevance in the production of natural products. In this context, few pieces of research have described the role of microalgae in the oxidation of terpenoids. In this present study, we questioned the role of microalgal based oxidation in the synthesis of high-value flavors and fragrances. This study investigated the role of three different microalgae strains, Chlorella sp. (211.8b and 211.8p) and Chlorococcum sp. (JB3), in the oxidation of different terpenoid substrates: α-ionone, β-ionone, theaspirane and valencene. Unfortunately, the experimental data showed that the microalgal strains used are not responsible for the substrate oxidation. In fact, our experiments demonstrate that the transformation of the four starting compounds is a photochemical reaction that involves the oxygen as oxidant. Even though these findings cast a shadow on the use of these microorganisms for an industrial purpose, they open a new possible strategy to easily obtain nootkatone in a natural way by just using an aqueous medium, oxygen and light.

Abstract We investigate rotating effect on deconfinement phase transition in an Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) model in bottom-up holographic QCD approach. By constructing a rotating black hole, which is supposed to be dual to rotating strongly coupled nuclear matter, we investigate the thermodynamic quantities, including entropy density, pressure, energy density, trace anomaly, sound speed and specific heat for both pure gluon system and two-flavor system under rotation. It is shown that those thermodynamic quantities would be enhanced by large angular velocity. Also, we extract the information of phase transition from those thermodynamic quantities, as well as the order parameter of deconfinement phase transition, i.e. the loop operators. It is shown that, in the T − ω plane, for two-flavor case with small chemical potential, the phase transition is always crossover. The transition temperature decreases slowly with angular velocity and chemical potential. For pure gluon system with zero chemical potential, the phase transition is always first order, while at finite chemical potential a critical end point (CEP) will present in the T − ω plane.
