The way pages are ranked in search results influences whether the users of search engines are exposed to more homogeneous, or rather to more diverse viewpoints. However, this viewpoint diversity is not trivial to assess. In this paper, we use existing and novel ranking fairness metrics to evaluate viewpoint diversity in search result rankings. We conduct a controlled simulation study that shows how ranking fairness metrics can be used for viewpoint diversity, how their outcome should be interpreted, and which metric is most suitable depending on the situation. This paper lays out important groundwork for future research to measure and assess viewpoint diversity in real search result rankings.

The accuracy of search result using search engine depends on the keywords that are used. Lack of the information provided on the keywords can lead to reduced accuracy of the search result. This means searching information on the internet is a hard work. In this research, a software has been built to create document keywords sequences. The software uses Google Latent Semantic Distance which can extract relevant information from the document. The information is expressed in the form of specific words sequences which could be used as keyword recommendations in search engines. The result shows that the implementation of the method for creating document keyword recommendation achieved high accuracy and could finds the most relevant information in the top search results.

<p>The research work is about to test the quality of the website and to improve the quality by analyzing the hit counts, impressions, clicks, count through rates and average positions. This is accomplished using WRPA and SEO technique. The quality of the website mainly lies on the keywords which are present in it. The keywords can be of a search query which is typed by the users in the search engines and based on these keywords, the websites are displayed in the search results. This research work concentrates on bringing the particular websites to the first of the search result in the search engine. The website chosen for research is SRKV. The research work is carried out by creating an index array of Meta tags. This array will hold all the Meta tags. All the search keywords for the website from the users are stored in another array. The index array is matched and compared with the search keywords array. From this, hit to count is calculated for the analysis. Now the calculated hit count and the searched keywords will be analyzed to improve the performance of the website. The matched special keywords from the above comparison are included in the Meta tag to improve the performance of the website. Again all the Meta tags and newly specified keywords in the index array are matched with the SEO keywords. If this matches, then the matched keyword will be stored for improving the quality of the website. Metrics such as impressions, clicks, CTR, average positions are also measured along with the hit counts. The research is carried out under different types of browsers and different types of platforms. Queries about the website from different countries are also measured. In conclusion, if the number of the clicks for the website is more than the average number of clicks, then the quality of the website is good. This research helps in improvising the keywords using WRPA and SEO and thereby improves the quality of the website easily.</p>

Thanks to the existence of Search engines, all of informations and datas could be easily found in the internet, one of the search engine that users use the most is Google. Google still be the most popular search engine to provide any informations available on the internet. The search result that Google provide, doesn't always give the result we wanted. Google just displayed the results based on the keyword we type. So sometimes, they show us the negative contents on the internet, such as pornography, pornsites, and many more that seems to be related to the keyword, whether the title or the other that makes the result going that way. In this paper, we will implement the "DNS SEHAT" to pass along client's request queries so the Google search engine on the client's side will provide more relevant search results without any negative contents.

Search engines are popularly utilized for extracting desired information from World Wide Web by users.  Efficiency of these search engines are dependent on how fast search results can be retrieved and whether these results reflects the desired info or not. For a particular query, vast amount of relevant information is scattered across the multiple web pages. Search engines generate multiple web links as a output. It has been a jigsaw puzzle for users to identify and select relevant links to extract further desired information. To address this issue, we are proposing an approach for Query Recommendation for getting relevant search results from web using facet mining techniques. Facets are the semantically related words for a query which defines its multiple aspects. We are extracting these aspects of a query from Wikipedia pages which is considered to be a trustworthy resource on the web. Our proposed system uses various text processing techniques to refine the results using lexical resource like WorldNet. In this paper we are discussing our approach and its implementation and results obtained. In the paper , Discussion on future research direction is included to conclude.

: The Existing studies have already revealed that the information on the web is increasing rapidly. Ambiguous queries and user’s ability to express their intention through queries have been one of the key challenges in retrieving the accurate search results from the search engine. This paper in response explored different methodologies proposed during 2005-2019 by the eminent researchers for recommending better search results. Some of these methodologies are based on the users’ geographical location while others rely on re- rank the web results and refinement of user’s query. Fellow researchers can use this literature, to define the fundamental literature for their own work. Further a brief case study of major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. along with the techniques used by these search engines for personalization are also discussed. Finally, the paper discusses some current issues and challenges related to the personalization which further lays the future research directions.

The new European right to be forgotten (Art. 17 of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants EU citizens the right to demand the erasure of their personal data from anyone who processes their personal data. To enforce this right to erasure may be a problem for many of those data processors. On the one hand, they need to examine any claim to remove search results. On the other hand, they have to balance conflicting rights in order to prevent over-blocking and the accusation of censorship. The paper examines the criteria which are potentially involved in the decision-making process of search engines when it comes to the right to erasure. We present an approach helping search engine operators and individuals to assess and decide whether search results may have to be deleted or not. Our goal is to make this process more transparent and consistent, providing more legal certainty for both the search engine operator and the person concerned by the search result in question. As a result, we develop a model to estimate the chances of success to delete a particular search result for a given person. This is a work in progress.

Purpose Many search engines in digital libraries are restricted to the terms presented in users’ queries. When users cannot represent their information needs in terms of keywords in a query, the search engine fails to provide appropriate results. In addition, most search engines do not have the ability to visualize search results for users to help them in their information journey. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new approach for search result visualization in digital libraries. The visualization approach enables subject-based visualization of search results and search queries. Design/methodology/approach To enable subject-based visualization of search results in digital libraries, new subject-based document retrieval is proposed in which each document is represented as a vector of subjects as well. Then, using a vector space model for information retrieval, along with the subject-based vector, related documents to the user’s query are retrieved, whilst each document is visualized through a ring chart, showing the inherent subjects within each document and the query. Findings The proposed subject-based retrieval and visualization approach is evaluated from various perspectives to amplify the impact of the visualization approach from users’ opinions. Users have evaluated the performance of the proposed subject-based retrieval and search result visualization, whilst 67% of users prefer subject-based document retrieval and 80% of them believe that the proposed visualization approach is practical. Research limitations/implications This research has provided a subject-based representation scheme for search result visualization in a digital library. The implication of this research can be viewed from two perspectives. First, the subject-based retrieval approach provides an opportunity for the users to understand their information needs, beyond the explicit terms in the query, leading to results, which are semantically relevant to the query. Second, the simple subject-based visualization scheme, helps users to explore the results easily, whilst allowing them to build their knowledge experience. Originality/value A new vectorized subject-based representation of documents and queries is proposed. This representation determines the semantic and subject-based relationship between a given query and documents within a digital scientific library. In addition, it also provides a subject-based representation of the retrieved documents through which users can track the semantic relationship between the query and retrieve documents, visually.

Indexed search engine is one of most commonly used information retrieval tools in the novelty retrieval, but in practice there are some problems: search results are too complex, precision rate is not high, the way of indexing is not uniform, and poor compatibility. In this paper, we have examined the performance evaluation of the characteristics of commonly used search engines in novelty retrieval and proposed some search strategy countermeasures.
