Memory cells, composed of PC and EL thin film elements, have been utilized to designing of a display with picture storage. Such a picture storing electroluminescent display may prove competitive with used now picture storing methods in the digital form. A mathematical model suitable for analysing the properties of a PC-El system is proposed and the preparation of PC and EL thin film elements is described. For a single pixel the dependences of output signal on the time for various values of amplitude and frequency of supplying voltage are presented.

ABSTRACTChemical bath deposition is a thin film technique in which semiconductor thin films of typically 0.02 – 1 μm thickness are deposited on substrates immersed in dilute baths containing metal ions and a source of sulfide or selenide ions. Many I–VI, II–VI, IV–VI, and V–VI semiconductors are included in the list of materials deposited by this technique, II–VI compounds CdS, CdSe, ZnS and ZnSe being the most investigated. However, a mathematical model describing the growth mechanism of these films still remains to be established. The deposition process consists of a nucleation phase, growth phase, and a terminal phase, each of which depends on the concentration of the ions in the deposition bath, its temperature, dissociation constants of the metal complex ions, etc. In this paper we propose a mathematical model, which can qualitatively account for most of the features of the experimental growth curves of chemically deposited semiconductor films.

Optoelectronic AND, OR and NOT logical gates were composed of thin film photoconducting and electroluminescent elements, made of cadmium sulphide and zinc sulphide, respectively, doped with copper, chlorine and manganese. The gates consisted of several photoconducting elements and one electroluminescent element suitably connected and supplied with a sinusoidal voltage. In such circuits the functions of product, sum and negation for input light signals illuminating the photoconducting elements were realized, and the output signal was the light emitted by the electroluminescent element.

Linear encoder as an important displacement measurement device has been widely used in manufacturing industry. The accuracy of linear encoder is based on the precision of its scales. In this article, the manufacturing process of the scales based on photolithography process and etching process was discussed in order to explain the opening ratio variation. A mathematical model was derived to analyze the effects of opening ratio variation on the waveform of output signal. The result shows that the waveform of the signal is cut off in comparison with the ideal waveform, and the magnitude of the output signal is changed.
