We have numerically explored the scalar field condensate baryogenesis model for numerous sets of model’s parameters, within their natural range of values. We have investigated the evolution of the baryon charge carrying field, the evolution of the baryon charge contained in the scalar field condensate, and the final value of the generated baryon charge on the model’s parameters: the gauge coupling constantα, the Hubble constant at the inflationary stageHI, the massm, and the self-coupling constantsλi.

By explicit solution of the one-loop finiteness conditions for all dimensionless coupling constants (i.e. the gauge coupling constant as well as Yukawa and quartic scalar-boson self-interaction coupling constants), two classes of grand unified theories characterized by renormalization-group beta functions which all vanish at least at the one-loop level are constructed and analyzed with respect to the (suspected) appearance of quadratic divergences, with the result that without exception in all of these models the masses of both vector and scalar bosons receive quadratically divergent one-loop contributions.

A natural generalization of the notion of the gauge coupling constant appearing in the covariant derivation operator is obtained by replacing it with a field Γ which takes values in the linear hermitian invertible mappings [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text] is the Lie algebra of the gauge group G equipped with a G-invariant inner product). In this case the eigenvalues of Γ(x) for each point x from the space-time take the role of the usual single gauge coupling constant.

Asymptotically Euclidean regions connected by a wormhole may differ by their associated gauge coupling constants. This idea is realized in a field-theoretical manner using a conformally coupled scalar field in five dimensions. An SO (4) × U (1) e.m. -symmetric configuration is derived, describing a Kaluza–Klein bottle coupled to a Tolman–Hawking wormhole.

We discuss how the evolution of gauge coupling constants is affected by a thermal bath, the existence of which is natural to assume in a cosmological context. The temperature dependent renormalization prescription induced by the thermal bath can cause sizeable effects, and the unification scale is shifted from the value computed from the coupling constant evolution in vacuum.

We consider the nonminimally kinetic coupled version of DGP brane model, where the kinetic term of the scalar field is coupled to the metric and Einstein tensor on the brane by a coupling constant [Formula: see text]. We obtain the corresponding field equations, using the Friedmann–Robertson–Walker metric and the perfect fluid, and study the inflationary scenario to confront the numerical analysis of six typical scalar field potentials with the current observational results. We find that among the suggested potentials and coupling constants, subject to the e-folding [Formula: see text], the potentials [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] provide the best fits with both Planck+WP+highL data and Planck+WP+highL+BICEP2 data.

AbstractIn this paper we study Lorentz-violation (LV) effects on the thermodynamics properties of a real scalar field theory due to the presence of a constant background tensor field. In particular, we analyse and compute explicitly the deviations of the internal energy, pressure, and entropy of the system at thermal equilibrium due to the LV contributions. For the free massless scalar field we obtain exact results, whereas for the massive case we perform approximated calculations. Finally, we consider the self interacting $$\phi ^4$$ ϕ 4 theory, and perform perturbative expansions in the coupling constant for obtaining relevant thermodynamics quantities.
