Condylar fractures are among the most frequent fractures in the context of traumatic lesions of the face. The management of condylar fractures is still controversial, especially when fractures occur in children: if overlooked or inappropriately treated, these lesions may lead to severe sequelae, both cosmetic and functional. The therapy must be careful because severe long-term complications can occur. In this case report, the authors present a case of mandibular fracture in which the decision between surgical therapy and functional therapeutic regimen may be controversial due to the particular anatomy of the fracture line and the age of the patient.

Smile is the jewel of the face, which not only enhances the beauty of the person but also influences self-confidence. Dental esthetic is composed of white and pink component. The long-term periodontal disease results in the destruction of the pink component leading to gingival recession in some cases, which results in elongated tooth with black triangle and unesthetic smile. When severe destruction is present in the maxillary anterior region surgical reconstruction is unpredictable. This destruction can be masked with a prosthesis like gingival mask after the control of periodontal disease. This case report describes the use of the gingival mask as a conservative treatment modality for recession, achieving optimum esthetics and patient satisfaction.

Background: Erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) is a disease rarely encountered in Canada. It is characterized by multiple remissions and recurrences, often requires long-term treatment, and can result in debilitating sequelae. Objective: To promote rapid recognition and adequate therapy for ENL. Methods: Case report of a 39-year-old man diagnosed with an ENL. The clinical and histopathologic features, treatment provided, and response to treatment are detailed in this article. Results: ENL presented itself as painful cutaneous lesions on the face and limbs, bilateral paresthesia of the fourth and fifth fingers, and systemic symptoms. Prednisone 40 mg daily for a week and then 60 mg daily for another week reduced the lesions by 80% and the pain by 50%. Although prednisone 60 mg daily was continued for one more week and then stopped, thalidomide was started at a dose of 300 mg daily for 4 weeks and then reduced gradually, which led to complete resolution. Conclusion: At the 7½-month follow-up, the patient remained completely asymptomatic.

Introduction. Frequency of pediatric mandibular fractures is relatively uncommon. Apart from rare exceptions, there is minimal invasive access in the treatment of those injuries in order to avoid the future developmental disorders. Case report. During the game with a colt, a 6-year-old boy was kicked by hoof in the chin. The child did not lose consciousness and did not experience nausea or vomiting. According to clinical examination and radiological analysis, diagnosis was assigned as dislocated mandibular fracture in the parasymphysis part of the jaw and luxation injury of teeth 31 and 72. The surgical treatment under general anesthesia encompassed reduction and bimanual manipulation of bone fragments up to the optimal restoration of the dental occlusion, along with osteosynthesis with titanium miniplates. Luxated deciduous tooth 72 at the fracture line was extracted and luxated permanent tooth 31 was fixed to tooth 41 with wire. The patient was given antibiotic therapy. Additional immobilization of the luxated tooth 31 and mandibular fracture was performed after surgery by composite resin splint. During five-month follow-up period there were no signs of pathological movements in the fracture line, no luxation of tooth 31 and no restriction in mouth opening. Conclusion. Osteosynthesis with miniplates is adequate and very efficient treatment method in dislocated mandibular fracture that is recommended in children with both deciduous and mixed dentition. It is necessary to remove miniplates after fracture consolidation.

One of the severe complications of ovariohysterectomy is the incomplete removal of one or two ovaries, which is also known as ovarian remnant syndrome. This condition is usually followed by uterine stump pyometra, which can be described as the infection of uterine body tissue remaining after the operation. However, both conditions may also be encountered separately. In this study, the clinical findings, therapies and long term postoperative conditions of five ovarioectomized bitches with uterine stump pyometra that were brought to the clinic with symptoms like lethargy, loss of appetite, purulent or sero-sanguinous vaginal discharge, polydipsia, polyuria within a four year period, were presented.

Mandibular condylar fractures in a growing child may cause long-term consequences. A conservative approach has been recommended to permit the remodelling of the condyles as well as to re-establishing the mandibular dynamics and oral functions. This case report presents a bilateral mandibular condylar fracture in an 11 years old girl treated with myofunctional appliances in combination with exercises. The successful results from this clinical case support a conservative approach when treating mandibular condylar fractures in a growing child instead of an open surgical approach.

Objective: To explain the management of symphysis mandibular fracture in pediatric using erich arch bar. Methods: A 12 years old boy has fracture in mandible due to the accident occurred when his chin hit the touching motorcycle tank. Clinically a deformity at the anterior of mandible and malocclusion has occurred. Patient also complained a pain with swelling and bleeding at the region of fracture and lip. Suturing had been done in wound area for both intra and extra oral area followed by the application of arch bar in maxilla and mandible. Doing evaluation at the third day, a vague fracture line was found in panoramic radiograph. Results: The following treatment done was the application of erich arch bar for mobility reducing the fracture of mandibular symphysis. A good healing act management to symphysis mandibular fracture of 12 years old children with full eruption of teeth has been given to the teeth to develop retention and to stabilize the erich arch bar. Conclusion: Management of pediatric symphysis mandibular fracture for 12 years old children with full eruption of teeth using erich bar revealed a healed fracture.
