In order to obtain motion with large travel and high precision, the micro-drive system is used to compensate for the motion error of the macro-drive system in the macro/micro dual-drive system. The research on the micro-drive rotary system lags behind the micro-drive linear system, so it is of great significance to study the designing and error compensation performance of a precision micro-drive rotary system. In this paper, a precision micro-drive rotary system is designed, the error compensation scheme of the system is proposed, and the system feasibility in design and error compensation is tested by FEM simulation analysis and performance experiments. Firstly, a precision micro-drive rotary system is designed to provide high-precision rotary motion, which consists of a micro rotary mechanism and PZT. In the system, the micro rotary mechanism is developed based on the compound motion principle of flexure hinge, which can accurately transform an input of linear motion into an output of rotary motion according to a certain relationship. Secondly, for finishing the error compensation scheme of the system, the maximum compensation modifier θ max ′ is proposed based on the analysis of error compensation equations of point-to-point motion and continuous motion. Finally, in order to facilitate the use of engineering, the driven voltage equation of error compensation is derived by the error compensation performance experiment. The simulation and experiment results indicate that both the design and error-compensation-range of the system satisfy the needs of practical application.

The system of route correction of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is considered. For the route correction the on-board radar complex is used. In conditions of active interference, it is impossible to use radar images for the route correction so it is proposed to use the on-board navigation system with algorithmic correction. An error compensation scheme of the navigation system in the output signal using the algorithm for constructing a predictive model of the system errors is applied. The predictive model is building using the genetic algorithm and the method of group accounting of arguments. The quality comparison of the algorithms for constructing predictive models is carried out using mathematical modeling.

Error measurement of a rotary axis is the key to error compensation and to improving motion accuracy. However, only a few instruments can measure all the motion errors of a rotary axis. In this paper, a device based on laser collimation and laser interferometry was introduced for simultaneous measurement of all six degrees-of-freedom motion errors of a rotary axis. Synchronous rotation of the target and reference rotary axes was achieved by developing a proportional–integral–derivative algorithm. An error model for the measuring device was established using a homogeneous transformation matrix. The influences of installation errors, manufacturing errors, and error crosstalk were studied in detail, and compensation methods for them were proposed. After compensation, the repeatability of axial and radial motion errors was significantly improved. The repeatability values of angular positioning error and of tilt motion error around the y axis and x axis were 28.0″, 2.8″, and 3.9″. The repeatability values of translational motion errors were less than 2.8 μm. The comparison experiments show that the comparison errors of angular positioning error and tilt motion error around the y axis were 2.3″ and 2.9″, respectively. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and the error compensation model.

This paper investigates the interfacial slip between the forming tool and workpiece in a relatively new metal forming process, cross-wedge rolling. Based on the finite elements method, three-dimensional mechanical model of cross wedge rolling process has been developed. Examples of numerical simulation for strain, stress distributions and rolling load components have been included. The main advantages of the finite element method are: the capability of obtaining detailed solutions of the mechanics in a deforming body, namely, stresses, shapes, strains or contact pressure distributions; and the computer codes, can be used for a large variety of problems by simply changing the input data.
