A computer program has been developed, which calculates any adjustable thin film resistor from simple input data (electrical, geometrical, positional, orientational), punched on “input cards”. The “output cards”, which contain the coordinates, are fed to a numerically controlled draughting machine, which produces either an intermediate ink-on-paper drawing or the final cut-and-strip artwork. Our CAD method proceeds in several steps, offering all the permitted solutions and providing for designer's options.

Geneva mechanism is used as a mechanism for transforming rotary motion into intermittent motion and is able to achieve a precise movement and its lock, which makes it usable in many areas, particularly in timer devices, measurement devices, feed mechanisms, positioning mechanisms, pick-up and transport machinery, textile machinery etc. The studied literature showed that, although it has long been known, this mechanism is still interesting for contemporary researchers. The present paper proposes a method of synthesis and a computer-aided kinematic and dynamic analysis for this mechanism. Based on input data, it was developed a computer program that computes the dimensions of components of Geneva mechanism and determines velocity acceleration and displacement of Geneva wheel. The dimensional calculated data were also used to obtain 3D model of the mechanism.

In Part II, a computer program that aids in the design of a twist drill is described, based on the analysis presented in Part I. A true drill and a “computer-designed” drill having identical design and grinding parameters are compared in orthogonal cutting planes. The effects of the design parameters on drill geometry are investigated utilizing the computer program.

Abstract Wolfrom type planetary speed reducers are complex planetary transmissions, formed of three simple planetary mechanisms that have the same carrier H. The main characteristic of this kind of reducers is the large transmission reduction ratio (usually by a factor of 100 ... 300), obtained with a relatively small sized reducer. Generally, high transmission ratio reducers have the capability to output high torque. Considering the fact that their physical size is small, there are high normal loads between the teeth of the component gears and in the bearings, increasing the internal losses of the system. The object of this paper is to help the designer of this type of speed reducers to find the limits of the transmission ratio corresponding to an acceptable mechanical efficiency and size. We have expressed all the relations as functions of only three variables (z1, a and δ), that best define the integer type of relations involved in this paper. Based on these relations, we have created a computer program to optimize the value of the total mechanical efficiency of the planetary train.

Abstract One of the most effective transportation systems especially for bulk materials is continuous conveyors. They enable to transport materials quickly, economically and with rather simple means of handling. On the other hand for transportation needs involving steep grades and elevations, bucket type elevators are suitable especially for granular materials. In this study a computer program has been developed in order to provide a computer aided design tool for both bucket type elevators and belt conveyors. Operation of the program is interactive. Thus, some critical decisions during the design can be made by the designer, himself. The program has been written in BASIC programming language for Macintosh Plus personal computers. It can be also used in Macintosh II computers. The computer program standardizes all design results and the design conforms the relevant TSE, DIN and ISO standards. All standard tables used in the program, are available in the database. The database can be easily edited and updated. A design report can also be obtained at the end of the design as well as the screen output of the design session.

In this paper, TaN thin film were deposited on ceramic substrates by D.C. magnetron sputtering. The surface morphology of two types of TaN thin film resistors were investigated by SEM. The characteristics of the TaN thin film resistor was also studied. The key point was put on the TCR of the TaN thin film resistors. The resistors were trimmed by the autoxidation process and the anodic oxidation process, and the TCR values of about +21ppm/°C and-137.3ppm/°C in average have been achieved respectively.
