<p>Home automation system is one of the intelligent systems meant to create new opportunities for industry and business, as well as new experiences for users and consumers. This project is about designing, developing and testing a web-based intelligent home automation system called i-Home. The main users will be residents in any residential area i.e. gated community, terrace housing area, condominium and others. Its function is to ease residents in controlling the lights, fans, air conditioning, the house temperature and monitoring their CCTVs through online. For the hardware component Raspberry Pi was used due to its low cost, credit card-sized single-board computer that includes a processor, GPU, RAM and MicroSD as the server. Raspberry Pi primarily uses Linux-kernel-based operating system. It also requires PHP, JavaScript, Python and MySQL. The prototype of the system was built and performed most of the functions of home automation system. Usability and functional testing were carried out and both results showed that all functions worked perfectly.</p>

A desired technology in 21st century for home automation is an intelligent system. An objective of any automated system is to reduce human labor, efforts, time and errors. Commonly Home Automation is a system where various home appliances like air conditioner, TV, Refrigerator, etc are capable to communicate with each other and they can be remotely controlled. Here is presented a paper which discuss a home automation system through virtual personal assistant’s capability of speech recognition and through raspberry pi to automate home devices such as air cooler, lights, fans, TV etc. This system is a combination of various different technologies such as voice recognition, voice analysis and voice processing. A device microphone is used to receive voice requests while the speaker gives voice output.. The system also uses Artificial intelligence techniques which can solve various human queries through web search and can also control the home appliances.


This paper presents the intelligent Home Automation System (HAS) for disabled people, since still now facilities for disabled people are insufficient around the world. Numerous researchers developed different technologies considering Bluetooth technology, ZigBee system, and Wifi technology. However, these topologies lack efficient support for disabled people. Therefore, to engage the disabled people with the modern technology and make their life safe, secure and comfortable, authors have introduced the Rasberry Pi 3 Model B with Blynk application which is able to control the home appliances from their smart android phone. In this research, the motion of the intruder has been considered as the key parameters and HOG method is used to detect the motion. Experimental validation of the proposed model implies that this process is more secure and user-friendly for disabled people compare to other existing technology. Therefore, the main contribution of this research is to develop a secured automated system, which will enable the disabled people to control the home appliances and thus overcome the limitation of the existing technology

The home automation system is indeed a system that offers a mobile application to monitor it through the smartphone or tablet. It can control home appliances like light, fans, air conditions, and smart security locks, etc. Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is used for remote control of things. Smart home is essentially how it looks: automating with such an easy touch of a button or a voice command the ability to manage things across the home. Several operations were both simple and extremely low-cost, such as setting up a light to turn on and off at the time of your moment. Others need much more money and resources, including advanced spy cameras. Some people thought that technology is taking a really huge part of our lives. It does! we’re living in a modern generation where smart and intelligent systems are necessary to be there wherever we are to make our lives easier and much better, for example, we can do many things faster, better, and more accurate.

This paper proposes the design of Inter of Things (IoT) based home automation system using Raspberry pi. Currently in day today’s life we can hardly find a house without a home automation system. This project is intended to construct a home automation system that uses any mobile device to control the home appliances. This home automation system is based on IoT. Home automation is very exciting field when it uses new technologies like Internet of Things (IoT). Raspberry pi is credit card size computer. Raspberry pi supports large number of peripherals. Raspberry pi is having different communication media like Ethernet port, HDMI port, USB port, Display Serial Interface, Camera Serial Interface, Bluetooth, Bluetooth low energy. It allows controlling number of home appliances simultaneously. Here local server is created on Raspberry pi. User required to use different mobile devices like smart phones, Laptops, Tablets to operate the home appliances with the help of UI created on web page.

Home automation has achieved a lot of popularity in recent years, as day-to-day life is getting simpler due to the rapid growth of technology. Almost everything has become digitalized and automatic. In this paper, a system for interconnecting sensors, actuators, and other data sources with the purpose of multiple home automations is proposed. The system is called qToggle and works by leveraging the power of a flexible and powerful Application Programming Interface (API), which represents the foundation of a simple and common communication scheme. The devices used by qToggle are usually sensors or actuators with an upstream network connection implementing the qToggle API. Most devices used by qToggle are based on ESP8266/ESP8285 chips and/or on Raspberry Pi boards. A smartphone application has been developed that allows users to control a series of home appliances and sensors. The qToggle system is user friendly, flexible, and can be further developed by using different devices and add-ons.

ABSTRAK Cody App Academy adalah sebuah tempat kursus berbasis teknologi di Bintaro, Jakarta Selatan. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan penulis, Cody masih menerapkan cara manual untuk menyalakan dan mematikan listrik. Selain itu, hasil dari wawancara oleh pengelola Cody, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hal ini berdampak terhadap efisiensi penggunaan arus listrik yang ada di Cody, yang berkaitan langsung dengan besar atau kecilnya tagihan listrik yang harus dibayarkan oleh pengelola Cody. Maka penulis mengusulkan sebuah solusi berupa prototipe Sistem Pengendali Ruangan dengan teknologi motion berbasis mobile web yang merupakan aplikasi yang dapat merubah sistem manual menjadi sebuah sistem home automation. Aplikasi ini akan secara otomatis mematikan arus listrik ketika ruangan sedang kosong, dilihat dari tidak terdeteksinya gerakan dalam rentang waktu lebih dari 10 menit. Metode pengumpulan data yang yang penulis gunakan adalah pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder yang terdiri dari observasi, wawancara dan studi literatur sejenis. Sedangkan untuk metode pengembangan aplikasi adalah prototipe evolusioner dengan 4 tahap yang mencakup analisis kebutuhan pengguna, membuat satu prototipe. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah  penerapan home automation yang berupa Sistem Pengendali Ruangan dengan teknologi motion  selama jangka waktu 2 bulan berbasis mobile web terbukti membuat penggunaan listrik di Cody lebih efisien berdasarkan perbandingan tagihan listrik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan sistem yang penulis usulkan. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari perubahan signifikan pada biaya listrik yang harus dibayarkan Cody per bulan yakni sejumlah 20% lebih efisien dibandingkan tanpa menggunkan sistem yang penulis usulkan.   ABSTRACT Cody App Academy is a technology-based course place in Bintaro, South Jakarta. Based on observations made by the author, Cody is still applying the manual way to turn on and turn off the electricity. In addition, the results of interviews by Cody's managers, it can be concluded that this impacts on the efficiency of the use of electric current in Cody, which is directly related to the large or small bill of electricity that must be paid by the manager of Cody. So the author proposed a solution in the form of prototype Space Control System with motion technology based mobile web which is an application that can change the manual system into a home automation system. This application will automatically turn off the power when the room is empty, judging from the detection of movement in the span of more than 10 minutes. Data collection methods that the author uses is the collection of primary and secondary data consisting of observations, interviews and studies of similar literature. The method of application development is an evolutionary prototype with 4 stages that includes user needs analysis, making a prototype. The result of this research is the implementation of home automation in the form of Room Control System with motion technology for 2 months based on mobile web proved to cause the use of electricity in Cody more efficient based on the ratio of electric bill before and after using the system that the author proposed. This can be seen from the significant change in the cost of electricity that Cody has to pay per month which is 20% more efficient than without using the proposed system. How To Cite : Bahari, A.M. The general Latin American population with a physical disability or limited mobility has faced the daily basis challenge of having autonomy in home activities, with low-income or almost no-income. Needy Brazilian communities are examples of poor populations suffering from the lack of autonomy at home, aggravated by scarce financial resources. The authors developed a low-cost home automation system, aiming to assist people who live in Palmeira dos Indios city and Arapiraca city, needy communities located in the Northeast of Brazil. The system is composed of hardware and software components. The hardware comprises of microcontrollers used to actuate over electrical devices at home, while an Android application provides a simple graphical user interface (GUI) to control the devices using touch and voice commands by Bluetooth communication. They evaluated the system by implementing a home model and providing the home for four physical disability persons and one limited mobility person. They considered the system`s effectiveness, the system`s usability, and users` perceptions during the evaluation.
