AbstractSeven new species in three genera are described and illustrated from the Neotropical region. New species include: Docalidia argutiae from Brazil, D. testa, D. acus, D. filamenta from Peru, D. lamina from Ecuador, Perulidia lobata from Ecuador and Stalolidia curta from Brazil. A revised key to species in the genera Perulidia and Stalolidia is also presented. Five species are briefly discussed and illustrated to show intraspecific variation in relation to geographic distribution.

Two new species of Bohayella Belokobylskij, 1987 from Costa Rica are described: Bohayella geraldinae Kang, sp. nov. and Bohayella hansoni Kang, sp. nov. These are new distribution records for the genus in the Neotropical region. In addition, a key to species of the genus Bohayella of Costa Rica is presented. The current work elevates the number of species included in Bohayella from nine to eleven.

A New Species

Spathipheromyia Bigot is a small group of predaceous muscids endemic of the Neotropical region. Currently, the genus includes 14 species of which only Spathipheromyia atra Malloch, 1934, S. magellani Malloch, 1934 and S. guttipennis (Thomson, 1869) are listed for Argentina. We present a new species Spathipheromyia goliat sp. nov. for Argentina and registered S. albiceps Malloch, 1934 for the first time for Argentina. Also we present a more detailed description of male and female terminalia of S. albiceps, S. atra, and S. guttipennis, notes on their habitat, new records, a key to species, and a discussion on structure of male terminalia.

Species of Marphysa belonging to the Aenea-group have compound falcigers as the subacicular chaetae along the entire body. Around 30 species belong to this group, among these, two have originally been described based on Australian specimens, M. bifurcata and M. sessilobranchiata. Here, we redescribe both species based on type and non-type material and describe a species new to science, M. pseudosessiloa n. sp., including intraspecific variation. Informative features for the identification of these species are relative length of prostomial appendages in relation to prostomium, shape of notopodial cirri, left MxIV plate, left and right MxIV attachment lamellae and placement of branchial stem. A taxonomic key to species of Marphysa currently reported from Australia is also provided.

Umbyquyra gen. nov., a new Theraphosinae genus with stridulatory bristles on the palpal trocanther of pedipalp trochanter and first leg, is proposed. The genus differs from the other genera with stridulatory bristles on the same segments, Acanthoscurria Ausserer, 1871, Cyrtopholis Simon, 1892, Longilyra Gabriel, 2014 and Nesipelma Schmidt & Kovarik, 1996, by having a palpal bulb with a very short and acuminate embolus and four short keels; separated tibial apophysis; and female spermathecae resembling those of Cyrtopholis, with two seminal receptacles with elongated ducts emerging from a common area. Cyrtopholis palmarum Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1945 and C. schmidti Rudloff, 1996 from Brazil and Acanthoscurria acuminata Schmidt & Tesmoingt in Schmidt, 2005 from Bolivia are transferred to the new genus. The female of Umbyquyra palmarum (Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1945) gen. et comb. nov. and the male of U. schmidti (Rudloff, 1996) gen. et comb. nov. are described for the first time. Cyrtopholis zorodes Mello-Leitão, 1923 is considered a junior synonym of Acanthoscurria gomesiana Mello-Leitão, 1923 and Cyrtopholis meridionalis (Keyserling, 1891) is considered a nomen dubium. Eight new species from Brazil are described: Umbyquyra paranaiba gen. et sp. nov., U. cuiaba gen. et sp. nov., U. araguaia gen. et sp. nov., U. sapezal gen. et sp. nov., U. belterra gen. et sp. nov., U. caxiuana gen. et sp. nov., U. tucurui gen. et sp. nov. and U. tapajos gen. et sp. nov. Data and maps on the geographic distribution are provided.

The genus Phasmotaenia Navás, 1907 (type-species: Taeniosoma sanchezi Bolívar, 1897) is currently known only from the Philippine Islands and Taiwan, but here shown to extend eastwards as far as to the Solomon Islands, Northern New Guinea and even Fiji. A taxonomic review of the genus, and updated keys to the species are presented. The type-species of Phasmotaenia Navás, 1907, P. sanchezi (Bolívar, 1897) from Luzon, Philippines is shown to have been misinterpreted by previous authors. This has resulted in the description of the here revealed junior synonym Phasmotaenia elongata Zompro & Eusebio, 2000 (n. syn.). A survey of the intraspecific variation of P. sanchezi (Bolívar, 1897) is provided along with illustrations of the holotype. Phasmotaenia australe (Günther, 1933) from the Solomon Islands is removed from synonymy with Phasmotaenia godeffroyi (Redtenbacher, 1908) n. comb. from Micronesia and shown to be a distinct and valid species (rev. stat.). Both species are transferred to Phasmotaenia Navás, 1907. Examination of the paratypes of P. australe (Günther, 1933) has revealed these to represent two different species distinct from the holotype, one of which is described as new herein (P. guentheri n. sp.). The identity of many Neotropical species of Pseudisobrachium Kieffer, 1904 is currently unreachable, mostly because the available descriptions and illustrations are not sufficiently accurate to allow precise identifications. To help solve the problem, 115 valid species and their junior synonyms were examined. Twelve nomenclatural acts are made, and 110 valid species are recognized for the Neotropical region. Two lectotypes are designated: Pristocera crassicornis Westwood and Pristocera haemorrhoidalis Westwood. Seven new species-group synonyms are proposed: Pseudisobrachium retusum Evans syn. nov. for P. pauxillum Evans; P. cunco Perez syn. nov. for P. erythrocephalum Evans; P. navajo Evans, P. rectangulatum Evans, P. emarginatum Evans and P. foutsi Evans syn. nov. for P. flavinervis Fouts; P. acuminatum Waichert & Azevedo syn. nov. for P. latum Waichert & Azevedo. The following new genus-group synonym is established: Parisobrachium Kieffer syn. nov. for Dissomphalus Ashmead. The following new combination and reinstated name are proposed: Dissomphalus albipes (Kieffer) comb. nov. and nom. rev. from Pseudisobrachium paraguayense Kieffer.

The following species of the genus Obrium Dejean, 1821 are currently listed for Argentina: O. bifasciatum Martins and Galileo, 2003; O. cantharinum cantharinum (Linnaeus, 1767); O. cicatricosum Gounelle, 1909; O. multifarium Berg, 1889; O. trifasciatum Bosq, 1951; O. vicinum Gounelle, 1909. Two new species are described: O. mimicum and O. trilobatum. The species are illustrated; a key to species of the genus occurring in Argentina is provided. The geographic distribution and the host plants in the country are mentioned.
